How Panama City Came to Have Some of the Best Dim Sum in Latin America

"Wah Kee offers a wide variety of Cantonese dim sum delicacies, served from a traditional push cart. The dim sum includes juicy shrimp har gow, meatballs with watercress, and rice paper rolls with char siu pork. The dim sum service is typically available only during brunch hours, followed by a seafood-forward menu featuring Cantonese banquet-style dishes."

The restaurant is located on the second floor, requiring the use of stairs to access it. A diverse menu was available, featuring options such as soup, fried rice, and duck, among others. The wait time was approximately 10 to 20 minutes. While the dishes were exceptional and demonstrably fresh, the rice presented a minor textural issue; it was somewhat firm. Nevertheless, the server readily replaced the rice without hesitation. In summary, the dining experience and service were outstanding.

Wahkee – Dorado is located on the second floor, and there’s no elevator. The space is large, making it a great venue for big gatherings. Despite it being mid-afternoon, the place was quite busy. Unfortunately, the service was minimal. We sat for a long time without being attended to and had to actively seek out the waitstaff to get any service. We ordered a few small dim sums, which were quite authentic. We would have ordered more if the service had been more responsive, but didn’t want to deal with the hassle. Overall, it’s a place to visit for the food, not the service. There seems to be little incentive to improve the service, as the restaurant was still full even in the afternoon.

This is the most luxurious dim sum restaurant around. Once upstairs, you will see an interior built for royalty. Statues, carpeted floor, uniformed staff, all inside a professionally designed environment. The food is classic dim sum ushered around in push carts. They also serve specialty dishes a la cart. Prices are very reasonable. Our table had five people, four of which were seniors. After the senior discount, our total cost was just over forty dollars. We had mostly classic dim sum dishes from the push carts. The downstairs also includes tables but those are primarily meant for diners of the bakery which shares a space with the restaurant. It is an incredibly clever design. A separate business on the main floor in the form of a premium bakery and the beautiful restaurant upstairs. As a result, both businesses attract a trendy crowd. No one will ever blame this place of being understaffed because there are a ton of employees. Even the bakery downstairs is overstaffed but that makes sure that customers are served fast. As a result, service is top notch. This place elevates the visual dim sum dining experience.

One of our favorites, great dimsum! Go at an odd time for no wait, but not too odd otherwise the service will be slow. If no or slow cart service, can order off menu on their site. They don't always have everything but consistently great. Service can be slow/need to advocate. Parking is very tight. And a really nice place to sit, nicely decorated, we took out of town guests there often.

I loved the food in this Asian restaurant, the servers very helpful. We ordered some very tasty calamari and the delicious house fried rice, they have a honey-based sauce that is a success. under the restaurant they have a very interesting pastry shop

Chinese restaurant, they offer a very good variety of Dim Sum / Chinese breakfast from Monday to Sunday. You may order at any time of the day, only could take some time for chef to have them ready. In house prepared roasted duck every day. Peking Duck is also available on the menu. Restaurant is very nicely decorated, looks very high end Chinese restaurant, price is similar to other similar major Chinese restaurants. Wahkee is located on the 2nd floor, downstairs is MISAWA bakery of El DORADO area. You can order anything from the bakery, they will bring to you at Wahkee. Very convenient.
