Free roaming camels, endless sand dunes, no modern architecture or buildings for miles on end. A great escape, do spend the night. The place is loveliest around sunset and sunrise as it does get unbearingly hot in the afternoons

Gorgeous part of the country and the world! Easily accessed, expansive, loads to explore, great to spend the night so you can enjoy a peaceful sunset, a sky full of stars, and sunrise. Spectacular.

Amazing place. Well worth the visit. If you are oman you at least need to spend a few hours in the desert. Would highly recommend.

Our trip here was part of a Full-Day Wahiba Desert and Wadi Bani Khalid Group Tour. We returned to the car and drove a short distance to Bidiyah to get the tyres deflated ready for the desert. There then followed some driving to show us what angles the 4*4 could drive out and how to take the steep ridges without launching over the top. We passed several small camp sites, some hobbled camels and a few other 4*4s before stopping so we could get out and have a wander. The sand was amazingly fine but a lot easier to walk on than expected and it was beautiful to see actual sand dunes. It was also rather hot! We spent maybe 15 minutes walking up and down dunes and taking photos before returning to the car. After reinflating the tires we drove back to Muscat. It was a long way to go for 15 minutes but the overnight options were very expensive and it gave me the photos I wanted.

Terrific day at seemingly endless stretch of sand in Oman desert. We went into the desert in four wheel drives and the drivers performed amazing and thrilling manoeuvres on the sand as if we were riding on a rollercoaster. In addition, we visited a Bedouin camp whose inhabitants have been living in this challenging terrain for several thousand years.

great experience in doing a dessert crossing with the guide Oman team. Always suggest to go with a team those who thoroughly know the dessert.
