Waialua Surf Shop

There is no place like the Waialua Surf shop... it's an experience unique to the island of Oahu and the North Shore. From meeting the leopard-spotted shop dog named "Rocky" to watching in-house resident artist Andrew Miller "Drew Toonz" play piano on the shop's grand piano, there's always something happening in the Mill. The shop's extensive board room carries Third Stone, Lost, DHD, Owl Chapman, surfboards- where the Waialua Surf Shop is home Third Stone Surfboard Factory right inside. With years of history between shapers like Owl Chapman, Matt Yerxa of Third Stone, and glassers like owner Steve Matthews, the Waialua Surf Shop and Third Stone stay true to being "Gathering Place" of the North Shore and the surfing community.

Walked in to look at shirts and future fins. Was in for 2 minutes, was told “I just cleaned the floor, can you not get the sand from your feet everywhere?!?” You work in a surf shop get used to it. Walked out

Best place to drop in, admire the selection, hear the tunes, and take in a wave… enjoyed seeing all the original shirt designs, learning about Third Stone, and seeing dedications to Eddie.

Amazing surf shop. I loved the sign they have for satire humor. People just can't seem to take a joke anymore - trade in your tesla for a surfboard. Go cry harder in your safe space tesler lovers 🤣

Feels almost holy to gaze at the rack of Pyzel boards within a stones-throw from where they were formed. Great local threads and warm staff bring this shop over the top!

There is no better surf shop :). Amazing selection, always great customer service, fair prices and it’s like a little slice of history in a tucked away spot. We go every time we are in the north shore and visit multiple times. They’re always kind to our kids and always helpful with any questions :).

Stopped in for a shirt for our son. Good selection, reasonable prices. Proprietors were polite, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good selection of short boards and Van's. Give them a try--we liked them.

I always appreciate a store with a vibe and this place definitely has it. From the too notch equipment to cute fashion and art! We also got a great recommendation for a place to eat around and got help with charging a low phone battery that was actually so sweet of them! What? Only one other review written almost a year ago? Do no other Yelpers come here? Well you should! And you should check in with Yelp and get 10% off while you're at it! LOCATION: In Waialua near Haleiwa Town. Old sugar mill location. Dirt parking lot, free parking. ATMOSPHERE: Very local, rural feel to this place. It used to be the home to hundreds of sugar workers back in the days when they used to grow cane in Wailua and Mokuleia. STORE: has all sorts of apparel, boards, wet suits. Dressing room is the bathroom. Hilarious art work scattered throughout the store. My favorite one was: LIVE FREE, DELETE INSTAGRAM. So funny. PRICE: standard pricing here, not much cheaper than the mall, but that's probably set by the vendor, for instance, men's Van's shirt $25.00, but still a good price, especially if it's a design you really want. RETURN FACTOR: Yes, for more shirts. Especially around XMAS time.

Great people, awesome surf shop, and great piano playing!! Got to tour the shop and where they make surfboard's. A must see for anyone!!!

Wailua surf shop is the best surf shop on the north shore. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about because I worked at 2 of the biggest surf shops on the north shore. The staff at wailua surf shop are all super nice and helpful. The board selection there is incredible. The vibe is on point. I ordered a custom third stone surf board from them. I needed it done on short notice because I was leaving on a trip. They not only got it done on time, but it turned out absolutely perfect. I am ecstatic with the board, and how it rides. It is my favorite board in the line up. It also was super reasonable on price. If your looking for touristy surf shops with cookie cutter boards then go some where else. If your looking for a true authentic surf shop, with an incredible selection of hand shaped boards then wailua surf shop is the spot for you.

Recently bought a Lost board at the shop and was pleasantly surprised by helpful and knowledgable staff. Board had small ding near tail which they repaired on the spot. Overall the experience was great. Been there two other times and had similar experiences. Will be buying my next board from them and would recommend to anyone looking for surf gear.

Waialua surf shop is such a great place, genuine staff and an authentic Surfshop. Coming from NC to Oahu, was surprised there weren't that many "authentic" surf shops here. I've bought many boards from them and will continue to do so. Highly recommend to get board from them or a custom!
