Went in with a request for a secret Santa gift ($50) Was welcomed by lovely staff. Wish I could remember names. They understood my mission. Gift wrapping my purchases. Promoting local art and products. Call in. Good people.

While the gallery may be small, it showcases a unique and special selection of New Zealand art. The carefully curated collection ensures you will discover something truly distinctive. The staff are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. A hidden gem that's definitely worth a visit.

I went there with a little box of jewellery - earrings and finger rings - to have exhibited there, plus a little selection from the archives of my handmade eyewear, from strangely normal sterling silver "Looking Glasses" to optical absurda Italian acetate frames one of which I dyed lenses and frame together and called it "Rare Fruit". All are able to have your own prescription lenses fitted at Island Eyes along the road.

What an amazing Gallery 👏 Not only does the art on display excel, but also the helpful ushers who gave of her time to share what exhibition were on offer/ display on the island. I also purchased some lovely earrings from the gift shop. If you haven't been, but plan to visit the art installation, make it a priority. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful public gallery servicing Waiheke's artists and art-lovers. The Waiheke Art Gallery skillfully serves the aspirations of Waiheke's emergent artists while also showcasing the work of established contemporary New Zealand artists. A real treat for visitors to the island.

Yelp
One of my favourite places in Auckland, the Waiheke Community Art Gallery is truly special. It seems to capture everything that's magical about the Island in just four rooms. The last time I went was for the opening of the Off The Wall sculpture exhibition, and it was as stimulating and well put together as any exhibition I've seen. The Gallery always seems to attract and foster distinctly fresh perspectives, and the variety of pieces was terrific. One of the great things about this gallery is that it attracts a great mix of people too, from hippy creative types to some of the posher, newer residents of the Island. It always has a distinctly relaxed, island vibe so you don't need to feel out of place if you pop in from the beach in your jandals, but at the same time, there's plenty to be serious about in the quality of the art. I'll admit I have a weakness for art gallery shops and Waiheke is the best I know of - it's a tempting collection of jewellery, ceramics, paintings, prints, and small sculptural pieces.
