This is a great hike away from the crowds at Twin Falls. We only encountered a few people on our 1-hour hike. That makes sense since there's only enough parking for about a half dozen cars. It's a rugged hike over uneven tree roots and rocks. There are great bamboo paths and scenic outlooks. The trail ends at a small creek. Unfortunately, there's no way to access the streams unless you can scale up and down some concrete structures (not recommended and dangerous). Overall, this is a nice hike for people who want to experience some of that Maui rainforest without the crowds.

We were last here 20 years ago. My how things have changed. Beautiful place with great views of the ocean. When I was going through cancer treatments and procedures it was suggested to me to imagine in my head a beautiful place where I felt safe and my mind went to the point overlooking the ocean. It was kind of emotional to go back. A bit different than I remembered but still a good choice for ‘a healing spot’ if anyone needs one.

There are not many parking spaces. I think it holds 6-8 cars, but it is easy to pull into. The trail is an easy walk. The rain forest is very thick, so it is hard to get a good view of the ocean. I was the driver for our family. I found this to be a great first stop on the Road to Hanna. Gave me a little time to appreciate what the next 20 or so miles of roadway would be like.

Loved this trail - happy we got a parking spot. If you start with the fork to the left, your climb up is the trail made of dirt and tree roots. The climb down is all steps. I liked this route!

We stopped because we saw a few cars parked on the side and this was a great hike. The tree roots cover the entire trail but it is a moderate hike. There is a shorter path as well as a longer hiking path. It is a beautiful view from the top of of the hike across the forest.

It was a fun and easy hike, some of the nature views were absolutely gorgeous. However, it is probably something you could skip if you’re trying to do the whole road to Hana and only have limited time. We did the whole hike, including up to the upper picnic area (which isn’t much of anything and not really worth going) and it took us about an hour. Could definitely do this much quicker by only going to the nearest lookout.

This is another stop my Wife and I made during our trip to Hana. We almost did the trailhead walk but we realized we didn't have walking shoes and sufficient water. So ... we went a little bit inside the trail, came back out and left. There's no bathroom here that I remember.

The walk loop is okay. The nature is calm and the green is relaxing, but the view is quite limited for a lookout. The picknick area on the top of the hill/end of trail would need a hand to repair things.

Yelp
This is about a 0.9 mile loop trail near the beginning of the Road to Hana. We were recommended to stop here as one of our first stops, and it's a short and sweet hike with some elevation that shows you the beautiful greenage and foliage of the area. Trees are very grown, so you won't be able to see the ocean, and there were no super nice overlook spots. Be careful if there were recent rains as some of the trails gets really muddy and slippery. Super small little pull-out area for parking - fits maybe 6-7 cars, and that's it. Compared to all the hikes and stops we did on the Road to Hana, this was probably our least favorite stop. You have the option to do much better hikes and have better views farther down the road, especially if you make it to Haleakala National Park. I'd recommend skipping this stop unless you're just doing a short little drive and this would be one of your only stops.

Yelp
Waikamoi Nature Trailhead and Parking Area has a tiny section for five to six cars, if it's packed you can skip this place. No waterfalls and no restroom here, though the forest hiking itself is quiet and beautiful.

Yelp
Not many stop here. It was a quick 1.1 mile loop. Thick vegetation. Tarzan vines. Muddy elevation changes. Slippery. The many roots that protrude on the path help with footing. Tons of eucalyptus. Torch Ginger. Pretty early stop on the Road to Hana. I thought it was worth it to get the blood flowing and get out of the car for a bit. There are really only a handful of parking spots. We nabbed one and decided to do the hike. If you don't get a spot when driving by, keep going, no use holding up traffic to get out st this spot.

Yelp
It is a pretty and short trail. However it does not lead to any stream or waterfall. You can loop around and walk on trail here to admire the local tall beautiful trees and local flora. Just a nice stop and easy short trail walk to explore. From there We drove about 3-5 min further down pass the first bridge; where a small parking is also available and walk back towards the bridge where you will find a nice waterfall to swim and cool down in nature (enjoy! What makes this one unpleasant is the large groups of people in vans rather than families just exploring)-but nice to enjoy a natural waterfall on the road.

Yelp
If you're the type who just likes "long walks". This is the place for you. Although I do feel like it is a pretty gorgeous area with tons of green plants and trees. Its pretty much a long stretch of seeing the same plants over and over again. Just for the ones who like a nice stroll, not for the adventure seekers.

Yelp
It's an interesting short hike. What you won't see is a nice view or hanging above a coastline, but what you do see is some preserved look at the islands forest that hasn't been touched. Crazy staircase of tree roots breaking out of the ground. It's a loop trail that will end in little over 1/2 a mile. There is a vine to swing on, but pull and tug it a few times before u do. Easy for kids to enjoy

Yelp
Waikamoi Trail on the road to Hana was in several lists of top 10 so we did it ... but kept waiting for the 'wOW moment that never came. Sure are neat plants but we didn't see anything we hadn't seen in other walks. There is so much to see and do on the way to Hana .. we wish we had skipped this one. It's between mile marker 9 and 10.

Yelp
This trail and the connecting "Picnic Area" trail are very short (under a mile) and moderate in difficulty. There's very little incline on this hike but it is in East Maui where it rains a lot and there's a LOT of tree roots (more than half the trail is covered in roots) so that's what makes it moderate in difficulty. Definitely take the time to go on the "Picnic Area" trail (just look for the "Picnic Area" sign leading off the trail) as that's the best part of the trail and one that most tourists don't do. All in all this is a nice little hike if you need a quick dose of jungle green.

Yelp
I am giving it a 2 star because it is in Maui. If not, it would definitely be a 1 star. I would not do this trail again though. As it is usually wet on the Road to Hana, the trail was really muddy and super slippery. I bet many people have slipped and fallen on this trail and probably hurt themselves. Not any good views either. The mosquitos are prevalent, too. Bug spray is a must.

Yelp
Trail is very muddy and slippery as it's raining now. A tree has fallen about half the way. Don't go and waste time.
