"That night, we went down to Waikiki, which is about 30 minutes away, and walked around. It’s super touristy and more of a city. There are tall buildings and malls galore. Even though it’s really touristy, there’s lots of traditional stuff like the Royal Hawaiian hotel. There’s also really good shaved ice and a really good view of Diamond Head. You can get a lot of those postcard-looking beach photos."

Yelp
The food was delicious and it had a cool atmosphere! We will for sure be back next time we are in Oahu!!

Yelp
Our server was Josh, in the outdoor patio. We had dinner two nights in a row and he performed exquisitely. With many customers at tables & waiting, he was efficient but patient with a great attitude and it was easy to see that he was a great part of a great team. The food was fantastic- rib&chicken, chilled shrimp salad, fish&chips, popcorn shrimp and signature drinks. I asked him to check with the bartenders to see if any knew how to make a Keoke coffee and he found one who made it perfectly. He made two wonderful evenings in Waikiki even better! The music on both nights was amazing creating a great ambiance.

Yelp
Visited in May 2025, we had the best waiter named Blaze. He made our evenings so fun for dinner, we stopped by a few times that week. The food and drinks were delicious and services was amazing. Loved the views, live music and weather....couldn't be more perfect.

Yelp
Came on a Tuesday for their lunch buffet. It's located in the Outrigger Waikīkī Beach Resort. We did make reservations. It was pretty busy. Has a spectacular oceanfront view. Service- Above and Beyond! I mentioned that I had an adverse effect with black pepper. Next thing you know, a staff member by the name of Jeff came out to address this challenging allergy. He brought out a big binder that listed every ingredient in each of the buffet dishes. He made a list of ones I could have. I have been to many restaurants in my life, BUT this was the very FIRST time that I have experienced this much care given to a customer. I'm so grateful for Jeff's help. Food- -Poke bar- it was great variety with salmon, tuna and tofu. There were different toppings like avocado, furikake, ogo, etc. -Soup of the day- cream of mushroom: very smooth and full of flavor. - Korean short ribs: it was the best and my favorite - full salad bar - purple yam with a sweet coconut sauce- also another favorite of mines Return Factor- yes for the oceanfront view and for $33/ person for a buffet on Waikiki it's a good price.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Duke's Waikiki because of all the hype and good reviews, but overall it was a disappointing experience for me. The food was just okay--honestly pretty mediocre for the price. I understand it's in a touristy area right on the beach, so it's going to be pricey, but the buffet really didn't live up to expectations. I would rate the food a 3 out of 5 at best. What really dropped my rating was the service. Our waiter came by only once or twice, and I had to ask for napkins three separate times. When my mom asked for cream for her coffee, instead of bringing some, he just took mine off the table without even asking if I was going to use it. He said" here just take this cream!"That felt rude and dismissive. On top of that, when we were seated, the host got the wrong number, so when we wear seated, they just squeezed in a random chair to our table, so it was kinda tight, and seemed a bit disorganized. I also noticed the chaperone touching the tops of our coffee cups with her hands, (it was the person that set us down and started to count the coffee cups, and move them around with her hands, grabbing them from the top of the cups, where you drink from ) which made me uncomfortable drinking from them--it just didn't feel clean. I don't know if her hands were clean since she is like the host. Service overall felt like a 2 out of 5, and that's why my overall review is two stars. The view and location are nice but unfortunately the food and service didn't live up to the hype for me.

Yelp
Sunday vibes at Duke's are always a win. We started with the poke tacos and calamari with guava cocktail sauce, both were delicious and perfect to share. Drinks were on point too, but what really made the night was the energy with great music and even better service. Special shoutout to Nona, our waitress. She was fun, super helpful, and genuinely took the time to get to know us. She made sure our anniversary dinner felt special from start to finish. Already looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Drinks and food were lovely, life music was playing for part of the night. Expensive but it's all about the experience, and dukes never fails! Service was fantastic.

Yelp
Make a reservation days in advance for your own sake! Waiting for a table is not fun. Service is always great and friendly, they always have a good amount of staff (and a ton of tables). Food is really solid overall. Apps: hummus is a must have, so good with the bread it comes with. I don't even think I like hummus, but this one's amazing. Salad bar is also nice, but I don't eat salad so I just ate the bread! Main: prime rib is delicious. Get it while it lasts! (Although I've never had an issue with them running out). I had it medium rare and it came pretty rare, which for me is great, but might be something to consider if you prefer more cooked. The seasoning is to die for and the meat itself is really solid quality! Drinks: had slush margaritas, very solid, nothing crazy but not bad at all. I remember the on the rocks being tart so I went with slush and was not disappointed! Highly recommend for a night out in the city. Not for everyone with the fairly loud atmosphere (and pretty high prices) but I'm sure it will continue to be a must have for my family for visits to come!

Yelp
The food was okay, nothing too crazy, we've had better food elsewhere. This place is more for views and vibes. The drinks were pretty strong though. When we went up to the host she seemed like she didn't want to be there. She told us it was self seating so we were a bit confused but she left elsewhere before we could ask her a question. We walked upstairs and were confused so we walked back and asked if we could sit by the beach and she walked us to a table with menus. Maybe a bad day for her but service matters to us. Our server was the sweetest though, she was very attentive and nice. Ambiance was nice since you're by the beach. Other than that, we would prefer to eat elsewhere.

Yelp
I think we come here because that's where ppl say you're supposed to go. It was packed both times. I actually would not have come twice (the food wasn't bad) but they stay open late with the condensed bar menu. First time was the first night I was in Honolulu. I came based upon my airport shuttle driver's recommendation. I couldn't decide between two dishes so I let the waiter pick for me. He picked the ribs which came with salad and a side of way-too-mashed mashed potatoes; almost puréed. I also ordered a mai tai because I was in Honolulu bih. And you can't go to Hawaii without drinking mai tai; it was strong but tasted ok. I wanted to order their famous ice cream dessert, but it was too damn big and I was traveling solo. So I was like no fat bih (talking to myself) you won't order that on this vacation. Surprisingly, a couple I shared a short conversation with that sat next to me offered me some of theirs, but I may be a lil fat bih, but I ain't a dirty one. I ain't sharing no germs and plus the thought of that with strangers was weird but I appreciated the offer nonetheless. The second time I came, it was really late and I ordered the nachos. The waitress was awesome. I told her that the pictures on yelp did not look that cheesy. She said girl I got you! Baby those nachos did not disappoint so I didn't disappoint when I tipped her! Would I go back? Maybe the ribs were not bad but they weren't that great either. And honestly, I really wouldn't have ordered ribs in Honolulu but I overhead the table next to me say they were good. That's why it was one of the dishes that I had the waiter choose from. His service was attentive as well, so no complaints on service. The food is OK. The wait time could be crazy.

Yelp
A friend recommended this spot that's right on the Waikiki Beach. Named after Duke, the Hawaiian Olympic surfer. A live band played awesome reggae music. The Coconut Mojito was amazing! My wife loved the Lychee-hoo Martini. The Dukes Cheeseburger was typical, but my daughter loved the Fried Chicken off the kids menu. We sat outside on the lanai patio. Depending on the day, there is limited shade. The only negative were most of the tables were dirty and wobbly. If they fix that, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
It's all about the history of this place/ atmosphere.... All the original photographs... Food is okay.... Salad bar is yummy...... we were a party of 10 so not so easy to take care of... The waiter did a great job though .... Parking in the structure across the street..... You can have your ticket validated....

Yelp
I will forever come here the night of travel. Its tradition. Nothing like the live music, the amazing eats, and the vibe of a traditional staple like this place. Eat your food while listening to the soft waves of Waikiki beach in the background. Love!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Despite being a popular tourist restaurant in the heart of Waikiki, the service here was incredible. Our waitress and water boy were so attentive and efficient. The coconut shrimp was unbelievably crispy and I wish there was more!!! Ribs were tasty but could've been more tender. The rice with the fish was surprisingly very flavorful and seasoned!

Yelp
This place is so beautiful and big! The place was busy, so I'm happy that I made a reservation for lunch. The staff is friendly and accommodated our requests and even offered to take photos of us. The food is so delicious and so arr tge drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Restaurant food was honestly super disappointing. The ribs were hard (it was overcooked) and the rice and mac salad were bland. The chicken was the only good thing about the meal. The smoothie was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. Tasted like a normal smoothie. The service was okay, our first waiter was great, but our second one (after the first one ended his shift) barely paid any attention to us. Gave us our food and occasionally giving us water (about twice the whole meal). The live music was nice but too loud, at certain points I wasn't able to hear my friends while we were conversing. Honestly the other restaurants nearby had live music as well so this shouldn't be a big point. They had two options, more formal and more casual dining. I joined the casual dining and it took 40mins to get seated. There were 12 groups on the wait list. This was about 9pm on Sunday.

Yelp
My husband, family, and I came here on our first afternoon in Waikiki, and it was the perfect place to kick off our Hawaii trip! The weather was gorgeous, and we were able to sit outside on the patio. Even though it was busy, it felt relaxed with the ocean view, tiki torches, and live music in the background. It had such a fun, island vibe, and it felt very movie-like. Our server was great, and he was warm and welcoming, not just to the restaurant but to Hawaii in general. He was super attentive, friendly, and gave us great food recommendations. The food menu is not the largest I've seen, but they do have many different types of options, at least, and they also have a large drink menu. For dinner, I ordered the Cajun fish tacos ($27), and they were fantastic! They were spicy, saucy, and flavorful, and the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. I also got a mango slushie ($10), which had the perfect consistency and tropical flavor, which was exactly what you'd want on a Hawaiian vacation! My husband got the Waikiki hot wings ($19), which he liked, too. Everyone in our group was happy with their food, and we left full and smiling. If you're looking for a great meal in Waikiki with an ocean view and good vibes, I definitely recommend this spot! We ended our dinner with the Hula Pie ($15), which was big enough to share and delicious!

Yelp
Well, all you can say is you have to go to Duke's service is always a plus they got a great menu. All the food that we order is always amazing. The dessert is so good love the chicken the fish so good the drinks amazing Long Island iced teas and my ties, lovely music and bar scene that you have to hang out and have some drinks and appetizers before your dinner, great view of the ocean doesn't get any better than this.
google avatar

Yelp
We got calamari with guava sauce, the macadamia crusted fish, Huli Huli chicken, mango pork ribs, and fish and chips. The food was good. Duke's was right next to the beach so got to go to the beach beforehand. We also liked the live band that played while we were eating. We didn't know about the Prime Rib Buffet Thursdays, but if we did, we might have considered going that day since we ordered what it was offering for that day, particularly the macadamia crusted fish, Huli Huli chicken, and prime rib, among other things. It was busy and lot of ppl but our wait for a table wasn't long and food was served promptly. We finished everything too so just the right amount of food.
google avatar

Yelp
Gosh Duke's has been here for such a long time. Both tourists and locals enjoy good food and drinks on the Waikiki beach front. They validate for parking in the waikiki parking garage next to Ross and 1 other lot, best to call up and confirm. Met my out of town girlfriend for drinks. The front check in desk you can make dinner reservations its usually 20-30 min wait everytime I've come. The other option is to go to the bar and patio area and be on the lookout for an open table. Lively atmosphere and cool vibe plenty of servers to assist you. Be prepared its going to always be pretty busy not the quite romantic type of vibe but great for people watching.
google avatar

Mic V.

Yelp
The location is perfect because it's right on the beach. The service was great even though it was super packed after 9pm. We ordered from the bar menu. The burger and fries were just your typical restaurant food. It was pretty good if you are hungry and all other restaurants are close on the strip. The restaurant is huge but it may be hard to get a seat most of the time.
google avatar

Fina H.

Yelp
Ate dinner inside: Pro: chips, chicken wings, Hula Pie ! Salsa Band so fun to dance to! Con: came out to lanai after dinner and asked outside hostess for a table, plenty available. She was extremely RUDE and needs to find employment elsewhere if she doesn't know how to treat paying customers!!
google avatar

Yelp
Can't beat breakfast and the beautiful views from Duke's Waikiki. We went with the breakfast buffet. The price was right and the patio seating right by the railing was even better. Tasty food and good service. My only knock would be to have the buser take the used plates a little faster. I had to sit with the old plates for a bit and it made for cramped conditions with a small circular table for two.
google avatar

Jevon T.

Yelp
Duke's was amazing. You get good food and an outstanding view right on the beach. It's right in the middle of everything. You can order off the menu or go for the buffet. We missed the breakfast buffet but we caught the lunch buffet. It doesn't have a large selection, but the items offered on the buffet were good. The lunch buffet had a traditional salad bar, classic chilled salads, made to order poke station, and island favorite hot dishes. The service was good and restrooms were clean. The Duke's Hazy IPA was a good selection. We will stop by when we visit again.

Yelp
We spent more time here on our trip than I'd care to admit! It's such a fun place to come to eat and have drinks, or sit at the bar. Awesome view of Waikiki beach! We came here during beach days for a drink while we needed a sun break! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Came back after 11 years... decided to come for an anniversary celebration and a retirement celebration. I don't really remember Dukes a long time ago, but it's huge. They seated us outside near the pool. We ordered panko crusted calamari and crab wontons. Both were pretty good. For entrees I ordered the Furikake Ahi Steak. It came with 3 medium sliced pieces, probably 4-5 ounces of ahi tuna seared in furikake. The chili oil on the ahi tuna made it spicy, a very good kick. The tuna was seared perfectly. It was a good dish! Since we were celebrating something, our amazing server comped a hula pie. It was delicious too. A must come if you're in Waikiki. Mai tais were strong. One will get ya.

Yelp
Duke's location is amazing! The beach view is absolutely beautiful. This restaurant is extremely busy. Therefore, make reservations or you may not get seated. Our waitress greeted us immediately and was very kind and helpful. We ordered the coconut and ginger braised seafood dish along with the filet mignon. My seafood was delicious and the steak was good, but it was brought out medium rare instead of medium well. They tried to correct it, but to no avail. The waitress and manager were very apologetic and took care of the situation immediately. I love that this restaurant is committed to customer satisfaction.

Yelp
This place is very crowded even on a weeknight, so I'd recommend making a reservation. We had a party of seven and waited about 30 minutes, which wasn't too bad. While waiting, we grabbed drinks at a high-top table. The outdoor patio seating was a nice touch, especially with the live music in the background. I ordered the fish and chips, which were decent, though the fish had a bit too much breading for my taste. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, it's a lively spot with a great atmosphere.
google avatar

Lorie G.

Yelp
Came here to grab some drinks and listen to Hawaiian music. Asked the bartender if they have any happy hour specials. He replied, "'The music is free and so is the sunset". That's a great response. We were able to snag a table upstairs in the bar area, listen to good music, watch someone dance hula, and people watch. Lots of people seemed happy - not sure if it was the cocktails, being in Hawai'i or the music. Whatever it was, it's always nice to see smiles.
google avatar

Annie D.

Yelp
Service was great! Ambience was loud with a lot of people (if you prefer that). I got some tacos, and thought they were mediocre.
google avatar

William J.

Yelp
What are you over the ocean and awesome seafood omelette. Came back the next day had the best avocado toast I've ever had and focaccia bread with a vinaigrette underneath the avocado in the eggs as well as small tomatoes, incredible. The service is unbelievable, but look at the place is so cool and you just can't get a better view of Diamondhead in the ocean for breakfast The buffet is downstairs, but in my opinion, the better deals upstairs à la carte
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. We were on vacation in Waikiki and stumbled upon this spot. It blew us away. From the ahi taco appetizer to the huli-huli chicken, everything was outstanding. We ate at both the outside and inside seating areas, and both of them were great! Service was fast and efficient.
google avatar

Jackie W.

Yelp
Sat in the lounge area, first come first serve seating, able to just walk right in. Service was good. Waitress was quick to take our order, fill our waters, and bring the check. Live music. Had a weird bar smell. Food was good, decent size portions. Parked at international market place.
google avatar

Liana G.

Yelp
This place is a fantastic spot to enjoy cocktails and appetizers. The ambiance is charming, with a sunset and live music. Even though it rained during our visit, it didn't dampen our spirits. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful. However, if you're looking for a quiet dinner and a chance to chat, this place might not be the best choice. The music is quite loud. The food is also mediocre, mostly consisting of bar food. Service was excellent, always had our waters filled and cocktails served on time.
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
Ordered a cheeseburger for takeout. Bit into it and saw that the meat was definitely not cooked at all. I ordered medium and I'm not one go complain on the temperature of meat; but that is uncooked. Definitely won't come here again.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
I figured a tourist hotspot like this would be subpar and they proved me right... we loved the hummus, but there was nothing notable beyond that. The burger and coconut shrimp were incredibly average. We walked in and sat on the bottom floor to watch the sunset, but it was covered by the wall/trees/decor and even when we walked out of the back entrance to the beach, it was covered by buildings. The cons of metropolitan areas. Our server was nice, but I had to look around for him often when I was trying to order our meals. I also had asked for some boxes and the check and he gave me the boxes right away, but I'm not quite sure he heard me regarding the check because I had to wait a while and when he came back around to check on all his tables, I repeated myself and it was obvious he either didn't hear me or had forgotten altogether. Overall, I would skip eating here and grab some takeout elsewhere and sit on the beach to watch the sunrise.

Yelp
Updated review. We came and dined at the barefoot bar and our experience was awesome. Great views and excellent food this time. My last review had a review of their pork belly that wasn't favorable. It must've struck a chord because it's not even on the menu any longer. Tonight, we had fish and chips. The fish portion was large and extremely tasty. The tartar sauce was on point and the double fried fries were excellent. The service was fantastic and we left full and happy.
google avatar

Mayur B.

Yelp
We came here 2 times. Once for a pre dinner drinks and once for the buffet. I got the blond beer and the mai tai. They were both refreshing. We got nachos to share and the portion size was good. There was lots of left over even after 3 ppl shared it. The best thing was that the servers were able to keep track and split the checks despite a large group. Now the brunch is what took it over the top. It's a full buffet for $29! I can guarantee that you won't find anything more economical and plentiful in waikiki! The will make you an omelette but if that's not your thing they have cereals, breads, fresh fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. With so many options you will definitely find something you will like. The service was nice and pretty fast both times as well. I also like the matching hawaiin outfits the servers wear.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Duke's Buffet was a disappointment. We tried it for breakfast, but the food was overpriced and underwhelming, definitely not worth the $38 they charged. Very nice ambiance but the buffet lacked flavor and variety, and honestly, we'd skip it next time.
google avatar

Sean R.

Yelp
Located right on the beach in Waikiki Duke's felt like that high end luxury experience we were searching for to enhance our vacation's fanciness. With live music too, our experience was lovely. Our server regularly checking on us and making sure we were comfortable with our drinks and the ambiance. The poke tacos piled high on an enormous amount of guac stood tall amongst the various poke bowls we had had that week. The taco wantons were light yet crunchy. The Kimos Original Hula Pie can truly be shared between four friends, so bring some folks along and let their taste buds enjoy the experience.

Yelp
As an Oahu native, I give this place 4 stars. Overall, we had a good experience and the food was pretty good. But there are some things you should know before going. The best part of Duke's Waikiki was hands down the salad bar. It was very yummy and had a wide variety of different salad options. It's a great deal if you add on the salad bar onto your entrée because it's only $11 and you can have bottomless salad, soup, and they even had warmed macadamia nut bread at the salad bar which was almost like a dessert! The worst part was coming on a Sunday for Henry Kapono's set. You need reservations 6 weeks in advance to come at dinner time on a Sunday. OR you can do what we did and arrive at 3:45pm to put your name on the waitlist at 4pm. They sit the waitlist people starting at 4:45pm. I say this was the worst part because the hostesses are super disorganized and getting your name on the list at 4pm is difficult when people who get there after you, cut you. There's no clear line, unfortunately. In addition, the audio sucks from the dining room, so unless you go and stand directly in front of Henry Kapono, you won't be able to hear him well. We couldn't enjoy his music while eating dinner, it sounded like he was in another building. The macadamia nut crusted fresh catch was super yummy, but my husband's fish came with a hair cooked in it! Fortunately, they were good about it and our server comped the fish dish. It's a noisy restaurant, so prepare not to easily talk to your party.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had to wait an hour to get a table. When we got seated, we ordered Poke Tacos, Furikake Ahi Steak, Mango bbq pork ribs and Kimo's original hula pie. Enjoyed everything. Well seasoned and tasty. This restaurant is really big and service was great.
google avatar

Kelsie K.

Yelp
Touristy but Duke's is a hot spot in Waikīkī. If you go before the live music starts at 4 but after the lunch buffet ends, it's open seating first come first serve at all the wooden tables. You can't beat the view of the beach if you're lucky enough to score a table on the balcony. The music was great, and you can hear it clearly inside by the bar. Food and drinks both came out quickly considering how busy it was, the restaurant is well staffed. You can't go wrong with a Mai Tai but their Miami Vice is amazing too. You have to get the Hula Pie, it's huge so plan to share, but you won't regret ordering it!!
google avatar

Sunny B.

Yelp
Popular breakfast spot in Waikiki. 4/5 for the food - It was not out of the world spectacular but I enjoyed the many vegetarian options here. They had breakfast potato, french toast, banana pancake, oatmeal, a salad and fruit bar. We also ordered vegetarian omelettes. The li hing pineapple was a unique part of the fruit bar. The powder lowers the acidity of the pineapple and makes it taste even sweeter. Service, ambiance and price all seemed reasonable for a buffet in this location.
google avatar

Joyce P.

Yelp
Dukes does not disappoint! The hardest part was getting a reservation for dinner. We settled for a 4:45pm reservation and were sat in the sun covered by a removable shade until the sun was behind a hotel. We enjoyed the all you can eat salad before our entree of prime rib and fish. We could not leave without having a Hula Pie. Until we visit again...
google avatar

Helen J.

Yelp
We love this dessert!! Hula pie Served at both Dukes and Hula Grill our nightly stop A little pricey very good service! But we're on vacation!!

A. K.

Yelp
-Over rated and expensive. You'll get better food at food trucks. -$29 for a mahi-mahi fish and chips. 3 chicken nugget-sized fish, few sticks for fries and yellowing boc choy slaw. That's $29. -if you're colored, you'll get corner table. -ambience?? Sure. good luck getting a light to see your chicken nuggets at the corner table.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
We did self seating because we're just here for hula pie and Duke Mai Tai We lucked out and got a seat with the best view. Sadly cloud coverage mostly so sunset looks out of the picture. Staff was more extremely friendly Do not pass this pie up! From what I've read all their food is fantastic - i may come back and confirm.

Yelp
Love, love dukes. Have been so many times. Salad bar is great, so are the drinks and everything I've had on the menu is great
