Waimea Falls

The hike is beautiful and all blacktop, so if you need handicap accessibility this would be the one. I think they even had scooters to rent. We enjoyed the stroll. The falls is sort of an afterthought, it was more like walking through a botanical gardens with a little waterfall at the end. It was pretty crowded, so we didn’t swim in it.

I enjoyed the entire experience of walking through the garden, looking and learning about the trees, plants etc. The hike was very nice, lots of little areas to see and it’s a nice hike overall. The only thing I really didn’t like about the waterfall experience was the life jacket and too crowded. They should give you the choice if you want to wear one; I just found that it was wayyyy too many rules there for my liking. It would have been much better if we were more free but, I recommend the hike and a little dip in the water.

We must have came on a good day because the waterfall at the end wasn't crowded at all! The walk there was sooo beautiful and there is so many things to look at. The whole hike is paved so it is definitely accessible. There is even a little shuttle that can take you from start to finish. They have changing rooms as well for the ones that want to get in the water.

If you like seeing the wide variety of Hawaiian trees and flowers, this is a pretty good place. They have many tree types and they are labeled. If you are going here for the falls, save your money; it’s very disappointing. The falls are smallish, weak and dump into a small, murky, rocky, pool that has a roped off section and you must wear a life vest to go into the water, at all. The “hike” is easy enough and on blacktop with occasional side hikes to see more of the same. Bathrooms very near the falls, which is nice. Save your money, find a north shore beach-the views are more exciting.

Waterfall was good. The water was very murky and didn't live up to what was expected. Didn't feel like going for a swim either. However it is pricey... 85 dollars for 2 adults and 2 children. Not very worth it considering the price.

I absolutely love this experience! If you were into nature, I would 100% recommend doing their free tour with a botanist. It occurs every day at 12:30. Of course you still have to purchase your entry ticket though. It was super informal and a lot of fun. I learned a ton! Check to see if the waterfall is running and able to swim in before you go. It was not at the time I went because it is so dry. Nonetheless, I still had a great time.

We really enjoyed our visit to the botanical gardens and educational exhibits at the park leading us to the reward at the end, swimming in the pool of the waterfall! We did arrive late in the afternoon, quickly bypassed the gift shops, drink spots and shave ice stand route to the waterfall. There were many signs and plant markers as well as exhibits to learn of ancient traditions and the area’s history along the hike to the falls. We stopped and admired the blooms and beauty, every where we looked. And the sweet scents of the various flowers were heavenly. The hike, if not stopping takes 45 minutes, we had to wait a few minutes to get life vests, and were eager to cool off in the fresh mountain run off. At first the pool was quite busy and wall to wall people, but our timing proved to be on our side and soon enough it was only us, two other tourists and the 2 lifeguards. Absolutely the most amazing time ever!! We offered to photograph the other couple, and they made a cute video of us (at our request of course) as we were leaving. To be able to swim without hundreds of people was such a treat, as they say, “ timing is everything” Take only memories and leave nothing but footprints

I loved Waimea Falls, the garden is beautiful, unfortunately there was no water in the waterfall when we were there, but we still enjoyed our walk there.
