There was only Three stands selling produce, the rest were selling products. It’s a Beautiful location, too bad it’s not really a Farm Market. It’s a local vendor market.

Google
Very cute farmers market with ~20 stands ranging from local tropical fruit, jewelry, pottery, veggies etc. We got lots of different fruits (some that we haven’t tried before) — cream apple, sweet sop, soursop, Chico, guava, papaya, apple bananas, mangosteen.

Greg Schneider

Google
So many great things to choose from! We had fruit we'd never heard of, sugar cane juice, freshly opened coconut, and roasted nuts. Being cash!

Google
This is one of the best Farmers Markets on the Northshore. Many wonderful organic farmers selling fruits and vegetables. Many other food items like ono pasta, pies, Taro chips, honey, and juices; all are yummy! Good place and friendly people.

Google
Beautiful location. Amazing fresh fruit. We got the best fresh mangos. And… Sugar cane juice, which is the nectar of the gods and the most delicious of any juice to drink.

Google
PLEASE stop by Hawaiian Ko for some amazingly refreshing purple sugarcane juice with a spritz of lime for $8. The five stars for Waipa Farmers Markwr is all thanks to this drink. Trust me, I know what refreshing is after a hike to Hanakapiai and back. Plus he takes tap to pay so you have NO Excuse, you'll thank me later!

Google
Great local produce, artisans, and ready to eat lunch and munchies. 2023 Still great produce and artisans, and helpful, friendly vendors. I really like Missy's pareus and Anna's silks. The grandkids tried and liked the poi, so brownie points to Grandma!

Nice small farmer’s market. Go early if you want to grab popular grocery items such as egg and seasonal fruits.

Yelp
10/17/23 On the hunt for more ATIS (custard apple)....unfortunately, none here today at this fmr mkt There's a good variety of mangoes, chiku, papayas, veggies (kale, beets, taro), longan, fresh juices, cooked foods (Indian, cookies, cupcakes), açai bowls, ice cream pops, clothes, jewelry, jams, teas, ice cold coconuts (of course), handmade bags, macadamia nuts (flavored/riasted), sugar cane/juice, honey, etc. There are a few benches to sit & enjoy your treats. It's rain or shine. Parking, plentiful & the market sits on grassy areas. BTW, its Tuesdays, 2-5 pm (I Googled it and it says it's 3-6). There are porta potties available. I got a double chocolate cookie & a cupcake with dark chocolate ganache from For Goodness Cakes. It's gave it 4 stars only because it's somewhat limited, otherwise it5 stars for all of its contents

Yelp
Feed your soul and your skin! Aina Organics and and Lau Botanicals have lovely products. Don't miss out!

Yelp
Review is for the Waipa self-service food fridge! We were recommended that we stop here by our shuttle guide taking us to the parking lot after doing the hanakapiai falls hike since it's nearby and he mentioned that they had the best cheesecake. Who can say no to cheesecake after a long 7+ hour hike. My husband and I made a stop here. There's a small lot to park in. We paid in cash and left it in their little payment box. Lilikoi cheesecake was delicious! Very creamy and had a nice crust. They also had other items like eggs, produce, poi, and a few other things. Definitely a cool spot to check out!

Yelp
The Waipa farmers market is full of interesting, fascinating, and passionate people. The fruit was sweet and fresh. The only concern is that the prices are high. Some of the stands charged way more than the other stands. I do believe in giving money to small owned businesses. However, there needs to be a level of equal respect. I wasn't given back the change which might have been an honest mistake but don't ever assume. Let me make that decision for myself. Overall, great farmers market.

Yelp
It was rather pricey and almost felt it was for tourists. We were in the area and check it out but we enjoyed the Grove Farm Market in Lihue more (Open Saturdays 9:30-noon?) but it's an hour away. Parking: there is a lot next to the parking lot for the shuttle Vendors: I would shop around for the fruit prices, two of the three stands were rather pricey. It was over $12 for a cold coconut and $28 for fruit leather at one vendor and $20 for a bag of lychee $10 for a smaller ziplock sandwich bag of lychee but they were sweet and ready to eat. There was a soap vendor, clothing vendor and a vendor that can make various items such as hats from coconut fronds. Recommendations: Definitely check out M.Y. Kauai Honey Co. and the fruit vendor that also sells bread ($10) and she had better prices for her other fruits. Ambiance: it is very laid back and the vendors are friendly When you'd go: it is only open Tuesdays 2pm until sunset There were no rubbish pins that we could see but there were porta potties. There's a picnic table if you want to eat there.

Yelp
This is a review for the Waipa self-service food fridge, specifically. The lilikoi poi cheesecake and carrot cake here were the best things I've eaten on Kauai so far, if not all of my Hawaii trip. Be sure to stop by if you're driving on this side of the island.

Yelp
A fairly small mom and pop farmers market that is very close (a few minutes drive) from Hanalei Beach. Tropical fruits and veggies fresh from local gardens and farms as well as some handicrafts (soaps, flavored nuts, jewelry, etc). Prices are somewhat high as is often the case on the island, but the quality of produce is good and it is nice to support the local growers of this wonderful community.

Yelp
Had a rainy day farmers market stop here. Lots of great local fruit and veg and friendly vendors. Stop here on Tuesday's to stock up for your week stay!

Jack L.

Yelp
Nice little farmers market. And I mean tiny. There were probably about 20 vendors, maybe less. Nice variety of foods and fruits, clothing, jewelry and other crafts. I was looking for a tshirt and one vendor had a bargain bin with the shirts being only $10! I purchased three of them for family members and was happy with that. We also had some delicious poi mochi from one of the vendors. They were hot and sweet and delicious!

Tatum W.

Yelp
I actually did not come here for a farm tour but instead for the stand of food that they sell on the side of the Kuhio Highway. My friends and I purchased the Poi, the Guava Tres Leche and the Lilikoi Poi Cheesecake. The poi was definitely an acquired taste that I did not have, but it was my first time! I'd decribe it as having a pasty texture and not much flavor. More of a purchase to help out the foundation. The Guava Tres Leche was very tangy and had great flavor. I'm from Texas so we take our Tres Leche seriously and it was seriously good. The Lilikoi Poi Cheesecake was hands down my favorite thing ever! I loved the crust and the tangy flavor from the passionfruit. If I lived in the north shore I'd eat this everyday. It was some of the best cheesecake I've ever had.

Yelp
Great farmer's market, beautiful produce, nice drive through Hanalei to get here. Definitely would come back again.

Yelp
I love this farmers market there's actually music the day that I went with the guy playing you could tip them and you should because he does a really nice job. You can get anything here from I need to T to so the vegetables and fruits and delicious things to drink. There's someone that sells bakery goods that are really nice breads made with Tumerick and different spices really terrific. You do have to wait until the market opens before you start bargaining people actually lineup there's a lot of action here but you do find a place to park. Try to get here early enough there's parking it's off the side of the road but definitely worth your time. I love fresh vegetables and fruits and this is what you'll get here.

Yelp
I would give it zero star if I could l. As a tourist, I was so excited to stop by this place on the way from the airport to my hotel. I bought a pineapple at the price of $11! The vendor told me if I chose a newer pineapple, I had to pay $20 . I knew it's expensive, but I thought it should be a little bit pricey at a farmer market because of its freshness and better quality. But then we stopped by a grocery store near by, I saw pineapples were sold at $1.39 for 1 count, exactly same size and even fresher than the one I had bought from Waipa farmer market. I was very frustrated How could she sell a pineapple almost 8 times more expensive than it should be? How dare she sell a "better" pineapple at the price of $20? Not only me bought an pineapple, many others did! Not mention to other vendors, they also sold pineapple at the same price, 1 bag of 2 mangoes for $10, etc. It's a very bad experience of mine the first day I was in Kauai

Yelp
Boy do I love a good farmers market, and this one ranks up there with the best of 'em. Located just outside of Hanalei at Waipa Ahupuaa Field, the Waipa Market runs from 2 - 4 pm on Tuesdays. And unlike back home -- where you can wander into any old farm market a few minutes before they open -- this market is roped off until 2 on the dot, when the gate comes down and the footrace for beautiful, fresh, tropical produce commences. Locals and tourists alike swarm the vendors here. On each visit we've had to ask the friendly residents to guide us through the totally foreign fruits and veggies, which they're all too happy to do. Mangosteen "is a very expensive habit," according to one lady (and well worth every penny, we discovered). Rambutan is "a sweeter version of lychee" according to another (and it's true). Aside from the fresh produce, you'll find baked goods like coconut or lemon pie; goat cheese in flavors from artichoke heart and marinated herb to liliko'i; pink oyster mushrooms; homemade granola; and jewelry and art. Not to mention husband's favorite: the vendors who machete off the tops of whole coconuts and then stick a straw in so you slurp up the sweet coconut milk. Fascinating *and* refreshing! Waipa Hawaiian market isn't a county-sponsored Sunshine market. It's run by the Waipa Foundation, whose mission and philosophy supports sustainability and a deeper connection to community and environment. So good on so many levels, and *well* worth your time on a Tuesday afternoon.

Yelp
Open Tuesday, 2pm. Right alongside the Kuhio Hwy in the Hanalei neighborhood. It was raining both of the times we went there, therefore you should bring an umbrella or a rain coat. There could be a big price difference between vendors. For Example, we bought (really delicious) star fruit, 3 for $5. The same vendor also had bigger star fruit for $3 a piece. Then later we saw other vendors offering star fruit for less than $1. One vendor offered tangerines for $5 a bag, probably 8-10 pieces; another vendor offered 4 tangerines for $1. Other prices from 12/16 were: pineapple, $7 or $8; a bundle of white radish, $3; chocolate covered frozen banana, $4.

Yelp
In partnership with Westin Princeville, we did the farm tour and 3 course dinner with wine pairing tonight. Very small group of 25 to keep it intimate. Just fantastic. Our Waipa Foundation host, tour guide, Foundation head, hula dancer, and jack of all trades, Stacy, was a true delight. Friendly, knowledgeable, funny, interesting, . . . I could go on, but you get the point and she is just someone you should meet if you are interested in true Hawaiian heritage. Her narrative on Kauai may be 2nd hand, but it is the real story - since it is based on her own family story. Her father and sister-in-law provided great hawaiian music to go with the dinner. Jason and team from the Westin Princeville did a fantastic job on the dinner and wines. A kale salad from the Waipa farm just set the expectations. I HATE kale, but I really liked this salad. You sure you used kale? ? Main course was Ono. Like a great chief, he was going to do beef ribs but he said the local fishermen are really catching right now so he changed the menu to take advantage of that situation. Desert was the local ice cream, fruit, and a salted caramel. They only do this event twice a month, but if you get lucky and hit one of the Mondays they do the event you need to run, not walk, to book this event. And you get to feel good about supporting a great not-for-profit organization that is working hard to pass on the Hawaiian culture to the future generations.

Yelp
Cute little farmers market on the North Shore of Kauai. Great to stop at on your way back to Hanalei from the North shore beaches. Plenty of parking. Lots of local produce. And delicious foods to try. This is where I was first exposed to The Right Slice. I got their mango lillikoi pie slice, YUM! It was full of mango fruit and the crust was warm and flaky. We also got sausages from another vendor and those were delicious as well. The organizers also sell cute tshirts and hats. Check this place out while you're in Kauai!

Yelp
Great selection of fruits, vegetables and et al! Thank you Waipa you made our stay relaxing and we are going back to the mainland with extra pounds of weight. Must try the homemade cheesecake with lilikoi and mac nut; banana bread and strawberry papaya! Parking is FREE and people are very nice from locals to tourist.

Holly S.

Yelp
Stacy's tour was so informative, gentle, and relaxing. The information about taro and canoe plants was very enlightening about how ancient Hawaiians ate. We liked poi for the first time! Would you believe I had seconds on the kale salad? The bread fruit stir fry with long beans was perfectly seasoned and very lightly fried. The summer rolls were light and had two kinds of dipping sauces. The banana dessert with coconut sauce melted in my mouth.

Yelp
We also did the tour and dinner at the Waipa Foundation organized by the Westin Princeville. It was a truly magical evening with a total of 16 guests hosted by Stacy from the foundation As the previous reviewer says she is a very talented and excellent host. With all of the family connections (her mother in law was a guest at dinner, her father and sister in law sang, a school friend was the waiter)!it felt like we had been invited to a beautiful family gathering. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Yelp
In Hanalei on holiday, and after hitting the Safeway in Kapa'a for the basics, I was eager to get my hands on some local produce. I was very pleased to discover the Waipa Farmers Market on a Tuesday afternoon. It has a variety of vendors selling the best of what's in season, and more. In early May, I walked away with papaya, bananas, purple sweet potatoes, lettuce, cucumber, beets, and several other fruits that I, as a haole, cannot name but am excited to try! There were also booths selling goat cheese, soaps, jewelry, macadamia nuts, Waipa Farmers Market t-shirts, and other interesting items. I maybe could have bargained more with a few of the vendors (i.e. as a tourist, I probably got ripped off here and there), but am happy to directly support local farmers and am thrilled with my bounty of fresh fruits and veggies.

Yelp
We went to several farmers markets on the North and East shore and this was by far our favorite. They had a lot of fruit vendors, some hot lunch tents and some craft tents. I came to find Rapoza mangoes and they had them here. These are by far my favorite. Other farmers markets had one or two fruit stands with kind of the same items, avocados, smaller mangoes, and bananas. There was a lot more variety here.

Cheryl J.

Yelp
For two years we have shopped this market. There is also a taro (potato) festival once a year that we have happened upon each time with Hawaiian music and hula dancers. We were told this was it until we stumbled upon farmer's market in Kilauea on Saturday. Boy, were we buffaloed when Hanalei Farmer's Market bragged that "they were by far the best." Believe me--go to Kilauea instead. These folks, some of them sell their produce at both markets, have the greenest, freshest, most awesome greens! The selection is bigger and better. The vendors are polite at Kilauea. We met some pretty rude employees of this newly owned farm, Waipa Farm, on the beach. Their properties are unmarked. They try to trap people by setting up portable toilets. Be careful not to use them! A Jehad style troll will jump out of his vehicle and harass you with an embarassing confrontation if you are hard up to take a digger. Do not be tempted!

Matt D.

Yelp
Nice and Generous people giving generous samples. Definitely pricier than the grocer. Stay clear of the lady selling precooked pasta. It was absolutely disgusting.

Jeremy G.

Yelp
Not a huge selection, but everything I tried was great - the best bananas (apple bananas?) and mangos I've probably ever tasted (including South America). Also a local chocolate maker had set up shop. Everyone was very friendly, and didn't feel overwhelmingly tourist-centric. Really 4.5 stars, but rounded up for friendliness.

Cherri W.

Yelp
Waipa Pili Au Food Tour was amazing! It included a wonderful tour of the Waipa garden, a sampling of local foods prepared in front of us with an instructional, and introduction to the farmers market and local vendors. Must see!

Cindy D.

Yelp
Organic lettuce, check. Limes, check. Avocados, check. Leafy greens, check, apple bananas and dragon fruit, oh yeah. Small market but if you are looking for some fresh local produce to last a few days then this is a great little market.

Aunty M.

Yelp
Waipa Farmers Market is a small, well-organized market with a wide selection of fruits. vegetables, local spices, honey, delicious precooked pies and pasta choices. The Waipa Foundation sells sturdy, nice sized market bags as a fund raiser. Its a friendly, welcoming place, geared toward food and not so many crafts as the Hanalei Market. Its my favorite on Kauai!
