This art gallery and tour location was fantastic! We were staying nearby by and could grab coffee here in the morning before heading off to our adventure for the day. They had so many local artists and even had a book signing while we were there. The Valley tour is also well worth the trip. It felt very magical and sacred to be able to experience this beautiful part of the world.

Beautiful gift shop. We bought a pair of earring. A bit prices but very unique collection of woodwork and jewelry. There is no internet in the valley but they offer free Wi-Fi. They also sale coffee and ice cream.

Beautiful art & crafts from around the island. Post cards, silks, koa wood works, an alcove with food items. And easy parking across the street. A beautiful place to stop off on our way through town.

This is a sweet little place to stop before or after visiting the Waipio Valley Lookout. I live in Waimea and take my guests to the gallery for a little shopping followed by a bowl of ice cream on the lanai. There are gifts for every budget. You can browse the collection of valuable Koa bowls, and pick up reasonably priced gifts made by local artists. I've bought books, cutting boards and earrings. The owner and the employees are friendly and helpful.

Beautiful Art Works! Ever corner and section of the gallery has so many lovely items to admire/shop/buy. We spent quite a bit of time there and the staff were very nice and knowledgeable. Was a fun day exploring and we left with some great treasures too. Oh - and definitely try the homemade ice cream too!

Yep! Do a tour outta this place! Get down into the waipio valley without walking and learn fun facts and about all the plants. shop has really awesome souvenirs!

Google
Surprisingly well curated art gallery in a fairly rural alcove of the Waipio Valley. Wide selection of koa wooden bowls, but don't be surprised by the process associated with this rare wood (which can't be cut down, as a protected Hawaiian species). Ornaments, photos, and other locally made souvenirs also available.

Yelp
Cool little shop at the end of the road leading to Waipo Valley. This was the meet place/ticket purchase also for Waipo Valley shuttle tour. We came early so we were able to peruse the shop for a while. Lots of Koa wood creations from jewelry boxes to food bowls. Many other artsy/craftsy items. Staff is very friendly. Theres also a snack shop connected the shop that sells sandwiches, cookies and misc other snacks. Parking is across the street. Big lot and lots of room. Safe!

Yelp
This was the pick up point for Waipio Valley Shuttle. I wouldn't have known about this place except for going on the shuttle which takes you to the valley floor. The shop has a lot of very beautiful pieces of local artists. In particular, their wood art is especially beautiful. And very pricey too! Most are made of Koa, like the $3,900 rocking chair. I really wish I had a place for this, and the big bucks to buy up and decorate my home with this beautiful art. Maybe in another lifetime (lol). Seriously, there is a lot of nice art work of here. If you want to take a home a special memory of Waipio Vally and the Big Island you should check out this shop. Oh, and there is also a small cafe to buy snacks and drinks. I think it's the last stop to buy snacks before you get to the Waipio valley lookout.

Yelp
Be sure to stop by if you are meeting a tour group or if you are just in the area! This shop is a lovely art studio, a coffee shop, with fabulous local art, homemade ice cream, trinkets, and delicious banana bread!! This was the meeting point for the two horseback rides down in Waipi'o Valley (and possibly other touristy things). It's a bit of a side trip off the road to the Waipi'o Valley lookout so it could be missed. But don't. They specialize in a great many handcarved wooden pieces from local artists, photographs, paintings, etc. And all are lovely. I didn't try the homemade ice cream, but the flavors looked delicious. If I'd had a way to get it back to the condo in Kona without melting... I'd have bought some! Even if you are just meeting a tour group here, don't miss the opportunity to browse (and perhaps purchase) the local arts and crafts. The high quality artwork is not to be missed! And the banana bread was delicious. Obviously homemade as well!

Yelp
One of the best galleries we found during our three+ weeks on Hawaii and Oahu. The wood pieces are wonderful and we found many things within, below, and above our budget. One too-expensive (for me) piece I *loved* (a wood bowl filled with wood spheres), and the wonderful, kind, helpful woman (Midge) working there was able to help me find a smaller version I could afford, and I love it just as much! Maybe more, because of the personal interaction I got to have with Midge (for me that always means a lot). One of my kiddos and I ended up going back the following week to purchase a few more turned / carved Koa pieces because, I found that their Koa prices were about the best out there, and the selection was excellent. A different kind woman (whose name I did not get but is originally from NY) was, again, really helpful and dear to my son and me. I guess they only hire nice people! Yea for the customers! Lots of great gifts for others (and for myself, too ...). If you're interested in wood, esp local wood produced by local artists, then seek this shop out. I promise it's worth it. Plus we had *amazing* shave ice in Honokaa on our drive out, so talk about a win-win!

Yelp
I didn't speak with the lady working at the shop like Noel A did but I'm glad such good info about Hawai'i is generously shared here and I wish I would have spent more time and had some of those conversations myself. What caught my eye in this shop was the woodwork for sale and some pretty jewelry pieces. My friend liked their books about Hawai'i and their Hawaiian music selection. You can get ice cream here and drip coffee if you need something to keep you going.

Yelp
Beautiful wood pieces. WAY out of my budget though. I ended up getting an amazingly beautiful set of coasters and a Koa Wood bookmark. We also got some of their homemade ice cream, which was super tasty. I'm not even sure how we found this little place, it's so out of the way. I'm sure that most people just drive right on by it, it just looks like a little village general store. But it is a beautiful art gallery, and I recommend you stop by if you're in the area.

Yelp
Great art gallery with koa wood bowls that were amazingly beautiful and made by all local artists. Staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming (a meeting place for the Ride the Rim ATV tour). Would agree with other reviewers that the banana bread that they sell there is amazing!

Yelp
Handcrafted by local artists, the merchandise here is very high quality, especially their collection of exceptional wood items. Friendly staff as well!

Yelp
Loved the art pieces in the shop. Wish it had been more Hawaii focused. I still bought a few things, including a fabulous pair of earrings. The owner, Danny, was so nice. He told us his story of coming to Hawaii, via Louisiana. He also gave us some wonderful restaurant advice. I love shop owners who take the time to be friendly and make customers feel welcome, to their town and their store!!!

Yelp
$20 per day to park so an overnight trip would be $40, not the "cheap place to park" as recommended by several waipio-waimanu trail reviewers. No local discounts. old, empty car did fine parked up at lookout on this particular occasion

Yelp
My bf and I went here to meet up with our hose ride guides. There were some beautiful and varied art pieces throughout the store, but what I was really interested in were books on Hawaii's history and myths. I picked up a few and took them up to the shop's counter to ask the lady working there what she recommended. She gave me clear and thoughtful descriptions of each book and was totally cool when it turned out that after describing all of them, I hadn't even noticed the two I really wanted, publish by University of Hawaii. She found them for me. She also had great insight into what was going on in the socio-economic climate of the island and held a really intriguing conversation with my boyfriend and I, fully aware that as soon as our guide came, we would be bouncing. If you're in Honokaa or doing the horse ride, make sure to take a good look at the cool stuff in this shop and have an interesting conversation with a informed, conscious lady about your questions about Hawaii or whatever else. She also knew where to get lunch!

Yelp
We stopped here after a very long day along the coast. We had seen the beautiful woodworking pieces 2 years ago, and I had to go back. After seeing the gorgeous Waipio Valley from the lookout, we headed back into town. Although the shop was closed, I persuaded my husband to stop so that I could at least look in the window. A friendly voice from out in back of the shop asked if she could help us. When we explained our situation, Elise insisted on opening up for us! The same beautiful bowls were there. We purchased a very special piece, turned of Norfolk Pine and practically transparent. Thank you, Elise, for being so gracious and spending a little more time with us!!

Yelp
Went here to hook up with a trail ride down into the Waipio valley. When I arrived, already late for the tour after a long drive up from Kona; ( had never been to this area before and had trouble finding the place), found the parking lot was full so parked in a spot that looked ok as it wasn't blocking anyone and also not 'under the tree'. A sign asked people not to park under the tree for whatever reason so I made sure I didn't. When the trail ride was finished and I returned to my car and was looking over my map figuring out how to get to the place that I would be staying in Honokaa a man approached me and without introducing himself asked me why I had parked where I did. I explained the situation to him ie that I had been late for the trail ride, and the parking lot was full so I chose a spot that was not 'under the tree' as the sign asked, wasn't blocking any other cars so thought it would be ok. To try to make a long story short, this man began to harass me about where I had parked, telling me that if I had just asked inside the Artworks I would have been told there was additional parking behind the place. He did not do this in a polite way and was attempting to be intimidating and was quite rude. My 8 year old granddaughter was inside the car watching him and listening to every word this man said. Prior to going on the trail ride when I had gone inside the Artworks to register for the ride there was quite a long line at the store checkout and no other employees visible besides the woman checking people out so I had just gone to the back and registered for the trail ride and then we had left 20 min. late because of me ~ so I was quite grateful to the guides for waiting for me. Anyway there had not been anyone to ask about parking and I had no time to waste looking for someone. It had seemed quite harmless to park where I had parked at the time however this man was making it seem like a major infraction and a really BIG DEAL. He was so incredibly rude to me in front of my 8 year old granddaughter; however then accused ME of being rude! Then he identified himself as the owner of the Artworks after several minutes of harassing me. I was beginning to get quite angry and upset by his attitude and public attempt to humiliate me; quite a few people were within earshot and could hear everything he said. So I told him thank you for helping me figure out my map and that his hospitality astounded me! I added that because of this I was sure he was from New York (this was sarcasm); to which he replied 'F*** you!' as he walked away; then he turned around and told me to never come into his store again!!!!! And then he glared at me in a very intimidating manner and told me that I didn't want him to get REALLY rude with me!! Again, all this in front of my 8 year old granddaughter and quite a few other people, and all about where I parked my car! Fortunately my sweet and smart 8 year old granddaughter was able to turn this all into a joke and said it was the favorite part of her whole day and called it 'when grandma got banned from the grocery store'; we laughed all afternoon about it thank God.
