Waitomo Lodge

Great quality room but unfortunately on the day I stayed there was no hot water as the boiler had blown up! The nice owners messaged me before I arrived to let me know about that and when I checked in they made sure I was aware there was no hot water. I didn't really have any other options except to stay, however I feel they ought to have offered me a discount because of the lack of hot water. I have no other complaints, it was a good location close to town.

We have stayed at Waitomo Lodge multiple times and always had a wonderful experience. Sadly our last stay was made unpleasant by the host. She demanded we arrived early (6:30 pm) because she was busy that night. We obliged go there around 6 ended upwaiting at reception for 5 minutes as she was not responding. Her excuse was she was washing her hair. The television wasn't showing Skysport. Asked for her help, she refused saying if there was 3 ou 4 clients already watching Sky wouldn't work. We were lucky to have helpful neighbours who sorted out the TV connection for us and ended up watching the match. The next morning, we stopped at reception to late her know there was only a single plate in the room but she was not there. The service was poor and plain rude.

Considering what we paid and the location of the hotel , we were a bit skeptical until we arrived. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean , very spacious and very , very comfortable. Little things like water bottles, chocolate, and milk in the fridge just added to the enjoyment. Town with shopping and restaurants is a short walk away.

Visiting from far north - first time staying at Waitomo Lodge Service was good, lady was nice and welcoming... Can't say the same for the room. Seems alright when you first walk in until you realize you have to keep the curtains open to use the A.C, which didn't feel safe - not a lot of privacy as you can imagine. The bathroom was VERY outdated, I felt like I was showering in a prison. Lights weren't very bright, shower was not very welcoming, didn't feel clean at all, weird slope as well. The bed I slept on felt flimsy, like it was going to break if I moved. The next day I noticed some bites on my body that weren't there the day before. Altogether not the greatest experience, especially considering I paid $170 for one night. Probably won't stay again.

Great location just before the town centre and next to all the gas stations. Super clean with most amenities provided. Will stay again

Except the chairs and table on the balcony are dirty, everything else is perfect. Spacious, clean, tv channels are functional, easy check in and check out.

Booked here via credit card portal aka 2nd hand Expedia, ended up with motel telling me the hot water boiler is broken with no chance of getting it back tonight - staff immediately offered a 100% refund and was able to assist with my complicated cancellation+refund. Moral of story: don't book anything via 'cc travel portals'

Love the accommodation. It was really clean and spacious. We had a really nice view of the river and railway. It is a quiet place most times, although there will be trains passing by (even at night). My husband and I didn't mind the noise, so no complaints from us. There is also parking assigned for each room. Might be easy to miss their signboard at night. It's not well lit. But it is just along the main road so it's easy to find

The only reason we stayed here was to visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, otherwise there is nothing to do in this town. The room was large but the walls are a little thin. The room was chilly. We were given a room with wheelchair access so the bathroom shower wet the entire bathrrom, but on a bright side, it was a huge bathroom. You have to pay for internet, $5 for 50 mb. We opted not to get it. Instead we ate across the street (Bosco Cafe) which gave us 10mb for free with purchase. There is nothing good to eat nearby. We found a supermarket in town to buy some food. Otherwise, you are stuck eating Chinese fast food in the area. Free parkng.

Adorable and clean. We had a room with a first floor balcony and kitchenette. At $130 it was cheaper than what was offered closer to the Waitomo Caves. The train track behind had two trains go by but I thought it was cute and didn't really mind the noise. It's also close to town and within walking distance of a cafe and a grocery store. And wifi was free (I think it was 100mB.) I recommend the Indian food place in town (the menu was in the room and the call was free)...it was one of the better Indian places I've had in a while. Also they sell $5 made-in-NZ soap bars. I bought two soaps in the shape of sheep to give as souvenirs.
