Beautiful historic inn with cozy first floor for guest breakfast and guest use. Great location right near Sugarbush Ski Resort! Waitsfield is a fun quaint little town with lots to do and great eateries near by the Inn. Only complaint I have is the paper thin walls between rooms, as well as, super small shower/bathroom.

Was not greeted by anyone on arrival. The rooms are small and cute, you have limited hot water, it runs out or doesn't heat up. We found the owner after about an hour, we asked for an extra towel to put on our floor because it was wooden and we had been skiing all day. So didn't want our socks wet from walking around. He said it would be a waste of money. Went back to the room, coat hanger fell off the wall the moment a sweatshirt was placed on it, when I informed the owner he said "oh you have the boobytrap room, that happens." We left after about an hour. Because of all the bad things piling up. He got mad and started getting loud with my girlfriend while she was explaining the faults. Would not stay here again. We volunteered to leave with half refund and stay somewhere else

This awesome B&B is housed in a 200-year-old farmhouse that was built in 1825. My son and I stayed here for three nights to go skiing at the nearby Sugarbush Ski Resort. I was impressed with the hominess and warmth and all of the details that went into it's decor. There were two separate dining rooms and a room that offered breakfast that included several organic cereals, fresh blueberries, and small pastries made by a local bakery. The fresh brewed coffee that was served each morning to the guests was delicious. There were about a dozen high-quality teas that guests can make for themselves throughout the day. There were a few "living rooms" with comfy sofas that invited guests to sit down and relax. Then there was a huge entertainment room complete with sofas, large screen TV, board games, and a stage with several musical instruments. Frank, the host and owner, told me that the instruments are there for any guests who want to play them. I originally rented our room at the Waitsfield Inn just so that we can have a place to sleep in during our ski trip. This place turned out to be more than just a bed & breakfast to me, it became a home away from home.

If you are looking for a clean no frills accommodations this is a good choice. Continental breakfast was a small variety of organic choices including a large selection of teas and good tasting coffee. Inn included a large game/reading room and is conveniently located in Waitsfield. It is my opinion, that in an industry of high competition, it is extremely important to concentrate on details that set you apart from the competition. These details include excellent customer service, quality amenities in your room, comfortable seating/bedding and a well-maintained property. If you can concentrate on the details and think outside the box you can rest assured, you will entice customers to return---thus the 3.5 rating.

Great spot. Stayed here several times and really enjoyed it. It's clean and well run. The place has a cool vibe; there's a spacious fireplace room downstairs for a cocktail and a chat w like-minded fun enthusiasts. Steve is a great host, very kind, responsive, reasonable and easy-going. I even double booked once for a weekend and they very generously gave me a credit (they didn't have to; it was my mistake). The rooms are comfortable. Not a lot of frills but they're clean and welcoming. I have a special needs son and he feels very comfortable here. That's not always the case.

Had been going to the Waitsfield Inn for over 30 years. Had visited with 2 different owners prior to these new owners. The experience is night and day. Prior, the food, the cleanliness and friendliness of owners was top notch. John made everything fresh, homemade gronala, bought all of his food from local farms. He made your breakfast when you sat at your table, Vicky came to the table served you fresh coffee and asked what your plans for the day were. New owner offered cold cereal and wouldn’t make a fresh pot of coffee when I asked for a second cup, he gave me an attitude and said it would be a waste of money for him???? I left the table and walked to the gas station. They knew nothing about the area, and should not be in the hospitality business. Their website is a lie. Waitsfield is an awesome town, spend the money and stay elsewhere.

I absolutely adored staying at the Waitsfield Inn. The owner was friendly and met us every morning with fresh breakfast and coffee. He even sent us with snacks for our days on the slopes of Sugarbush (which is a quick 10 min drive from here). ||The room was quaint but very clean. Beautiful rustic charm. The common space living room has a flatscreen TV, shuffleboard, books, and board games. ||If you are looking for a charming place that has the Vermont feel, stay here! Very friendly, accommodating, and charming!

I'll admit I'm being a little generous with my review but I found this place so convenient, welcoming, and comfortable. The host made such a genuine effort to make us comfortable, asking about the breakfast options or if we needed anything, and he genuinely seemed to enjoy chatting and it just felt like more of an experience than staying at the Best Western or whatever.||I was a little early for check in and wasn't sure which door to enter so I called the hotel and the phone picked up immediately. Someone friendly immediately picked up the phone and told me where to go. When I checked in I was given a tour of the whole place. There's a rec room with a fireplace and table shuffleboard and couches, several cozy reading areas, and several rooms with tables and chairs. ||Our room was very nice, spacious, and sunny. I found it a quiet place to sleep. It took a little time to heat up when we arrived. Mornings were the best time to shower, we couldn't get the hot water going in the evenings and it took a while to heat up anytime. Another slightly off note was that the entrance smelled like a skunk, I'm going to assume that was a fluke and that they cleared that up after we left.||I have never stayed at an inn before but I found this place really charming and it was convenient that there was a communal fridge, microwave, water, coffee, and tea at all times. Some of the breakfast items like breads and fruit and juice were out all day so I think you could have had them whenever you wanted, which helped with the comfortable and generous vibe of the place. We brought in chinese food one night from a good (even by NYC standards) takeout place nearby and ate at the tables and then saved our leftovers in the fridge. This would be a great place to book with friends and then hang out in the common areas at night.||10 minutes to the slopes.

Yelp
I usually never write reviews but feel I have to warn people about this place. It is THE WORST inn I have ever stayed at. It deserves 0 stars. The "breakfast" is just slices of bread and cold cereal, like the continental breakfast you would get at a motel. And the "host" is very unwelcoming, if he is even ever around. Do yourself a favor and find a nicer place to stay than the Waitsfield Inn (which I'm sure will be very easy!) I sincerely hope this review helps save you from wasting your money and precious vacation time. Harold

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Waitsfield Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary. We were very disappointed with our stay. Our experience from check in to check out was lacking the quaint charm and personal, welcoming hospitality that one would expect from a Bed and Breakfast in the foothills of Mad River. We arrived in the evening and dialed the number left on the counter. The gentleman came out to process our room. I felt as though I was a bother instead of an innkeeper welcoming some road-weary travelers. There was no light conversation, welcome, or perhaps a "happy anniversary" (which I had noted on our reservation). We just watched him on the computer until he gave us our key. Other than one short conversation in the morning, we never saw the innkeeper again. Our room fell short of a quaint VT Inn. It was a narrow bunk room similar to being in a ski house. It had a wooden desk with chair. So, lounging in our room with a cup of coffee was not an option. It was stark and not charming. We went down for breakfast the first morning and were greeted with a bowl of granola and a cup of about 8-12 blueberries. There was yogurt in the fridge and some bread for toast. That was it. Hardly a Bed and Breakfast home cooked breakfast to start the day. We had to go out and eat breakfast elsewhere. The next morning, we went down for breakfast only to find the exact same items as the day before. Once again, bought breakfast elsewhere. The blueberry pancakes that adorn the website were nowhere to be found and the innkeeper was MIA. The website boasting a delicious plant-based breakfast with a photo of a stack of blueberry pancakes with syrup every morning sadly, didn't happen. The last straw was the day we were leaving. What did we find at 6:30am? Nothing. What did we find at 7:00am? Nothing. Not even coffee. We were scrambling to find a cup of coffee to hit the road with. Luckily the VG had coffee but no breakfast items. So, we left without eating. I am sure our total bill included breakfast for three mornings. For over $500 we should have received a warm breakfast and a host who cared. If you are looking to stay at a quaint, charming inn where the innkeepers are hospitable and you feel welcomed, don't book the Waitsfield Inn. Sadly, it is not a Bed & Breakfast, it is a Bunk & Snack. I tried to contact the Inn twice to discuss the disappointment in our stay and neither email was answered. There are plenty of other wonderful inns in the valley that will welcome you, cook for you, and make you feel like you are family in their enchanting inn.

Yelp
We made a mistake on our night and the owner accommodated us and made up a room for us! Thank you Frank! We will be back for sure!! This place was really neat, especially if you have kids.

Owners very nice. Friendly Clean convenient to sugarbush Delicious home cooked breakfast would highly recommend its Vermont charm and walking distant to small shops and restaurants

Yelp
I stayed at this wonderful inn in August of 2012. I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night when I was thru-hiking the Long Trail, and was unfortunately feeling a bit ill. The extremely kind Inn-keepers showed me to my room hours before check-in time knowing I wasnt feeling to well. The accommodations were superb and the morning breakfast was AMAZING. These folks put a lot of pride into their inn and it shows. I hope to stay here in the winter when I come back to check out the local ski mountains (actually for skiing this time). To the gentleman Innkeeper - thanks for the shuttle back to the trail. I made it all the way through the trail about 7 days after you dropped me off.

Yelp
Lovely Inn with a welcoming, generous hostess. We stayed for two nights and were very happy with the quaint, comfortable room. We were also pleased to find that the delicious included breakfast could accommodate our special diets. We even received a complimentary bottle of prosecco when the hostess learned that we were visiting during our honeymoon.

Yelp
If you are looking for a home away from home this is the place to stay! John and Vickie are simply just wonderful people. I can't say enough about them, my experience and the town. I will ALWAYS stay there when I'm anywhere near Vermont.

Yelp
Great place! The new owners are very friendly, accommodating, and serve a delicious, home-cooked breakfast. I would definately go back.

Yelp
We spent last weekend at the Waitsfield Inn and it was wonderful! The owners, John and Vicky were incredibly accomodating and friendly. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, as were the other rooms at the Inn, which we were encouraged to use. John's breakfasts were amazing, with fresh-baked bread - everything home-made and delicious. We will visit again and I highly recommend this wonderful Inn to anyone visiting the Mad River Valley.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I have never stayed at a B&B....but from the minute I checked in I got a good feeling about the inn. The hosts are friendly, visible and genuinely interested in the guest having a nice stay. I must confess I missed not having a tv in the room but my iPad with the free wifi picked up the slack. I had room that was a little small but because the building was built in the 1800's that's not unusual. The food was wonderful and the candy store was great. If your looking for a big brand resort hotel this isn't the place but if you want a true Vermont B&B experience with friendly hosts, good food and a relaxing stay this is it.

Yelp
We stayed at the inn the past 4th of July weekend. Vicki and John made us feel at home. We have never stayed at a BB before. The room was nice and clean. This building was built in 1825, so yes, the rooms may seem a little small vs a big name chain, but you can not beat the charm. Vicki is more than willing to give sightseeing tips and directions. Very helpful. Very tasty Breakfast.

Yelp
We rolled into the Waitsfield Inn without a reservation and were warmly received by Jon, the owner. Our whole visit was highlighted by his and his wife Vicki's thoughtfulness. After quoting the rate, Jon kindly withdrew so my wife and I could consider it. Upon accepting, he showed us not only our room, but also the entire Inn, which included a great TV room, games, movies, the dining room, and a small candy store, all of which was beautifully decorated with antiques. When we went outside to the nice patio to enjoy some canned soda we brought, two glasses of ice with lemon showed up. Our room was large and very nicely decorated with a good bed. The breakfast was outstanding and when I commented on how much I liked their home made granola, they gave me a bag to take along. My wife and I have visited many bed and breakfasts over the years, but we agreed that this was the best experience we have had.
