Wake Up! Bondi Beach

I had such an amazing stay at Wake Up! Sydney Bondi, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. A huge shoutout to the receptionists Kitty and Judith, who absolutely saved me when I needed last-minute help. They were incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming from the moment I spoke to them, and they were so understanding of my situation. They went above and beyond to help me out, and I genuinely can’t thank them enough. The hostel itself has been such a great place to stay, super social, lively, and easy to meet people, while still feeling comfortable and well run. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff are wonderful, and it really feels like a community rather than just a place to sleep. I’ve had such a positive experience here and would 100% stay again. Highly recommend! 🌊✨

ake Up! Bondi Beach is the perfect place to stay if you want to feel the real Bondi lifestyle. The location is unbeatable — right across from the beach, just a few steps to the sand, surf, coastal walk, cafés, and everything happening along the shoreline. Waking up to the sound of waves and watching sunrise from Bondi is something truly special.The hotel/hostel is clean, modern, and well-maintained. My room was comfortable, and even though the space is simple, it had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The common areas were bright and social, ideal for meeting new people, and the rooftop was my favourite spot — stunning ocean views, perfect for morning coffee or sunset chill.The staff were friendly, helpful, and always approachable. They gave great recommendations for food, activities, and transport, which made exploring Sydney much easier. I really appreciated the relaxed vibe — warm, casual, and welcoming.This place is perfect for travellers who enjoy beach life, surfing, fitness, or just want to experience Bondi like a local. Great location, great value, amazing atmosphere.I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Wake Up! Bondi Beach to anyone visiting Sydney.

Recently stayed here and it sadly aligned with what recently took place on the beach. However, at all times i felt safe given what happened. The day after, whilst the activity is normal pizza/bingo, i think in light of the sensitive situation the staff turned it into a cozy movie night instead which was definitely what i needed at the time. As well as this, the rooms are 10/10 with lots of space for storage and a good bed area. During hostel held social events, all the staff made an effort to join in and led the activities well. Thank you to everyone at the hostel !

I would not recommend staying here due to serious mold issues and the way they were handled. When we checked in, everything seemed fine. However, later that night when we turned on the air conditioner, both of us began experiencing severe allergy-like symptoms within about 45 minutes. We assumed it was dust at first, but when we inspected the AC unit, we found extensive black mold throughout it. There were no staff available overnight. We were forced to turn the AC off despite extreme heat and did not sleep at all. We were extremely congested and unwell all night. The room was also directly under the rooftop stairs, making it very noisy, but we were willing to overlook noise, cockroaches, dust, and generally poor cleanliness as this is somewhat expected. The next morning, we reported the mold. Staff appeared unsurprised, as though this was a known issue. We were told it would be dealt with. After leaving for several hours due to feeling sick, we returned to find the AC unchanged. We were then told it had already been fixed, which was not true, we had to show photos before they acknowledged the problem and said “wow yeah that one is pretty bad”. We know it isnt the front desks fault but management was not involved. We were moved to another room and promised a refund for the first night. The second room appeared better at first, but later we discovered significant mold inside the AC unit that was not visible from the floor. We became sick again. A “cleaning” consisted of wiping visible edges only, which did not address mold inside the air conditioning unit. We later heard multiple other guests saying they had respiratory symptoms from the ACs and had simply left them off during their stay. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option for us due to lack of airflow. There were also tubs of “mold cleaner” lying around the hostel. We are now both unwell from what appears to be prolonged mold exposure. We raised these concerns four separate times during our stay and were told to email management after checkout. Management has not responded after a week. We have extensive photographic evidence of the mold and conditions. This appears to be a widespread, known issue that poses real health risks especially for anyone who has allergies or respiratory conditions. Until this is properly addressed, I strongly advise against staying here.

28yo F Canadian. Rooms had enough space for storing belongings. Lockers are a good size was able to fit my bag and a small bag inside. Bathrooms were clean and there was alway one available. Shower caddy in the shower stalls was really helpful as well as the hooks. LOTS of stairs. Rooftop was a great place to lounge when wanting to relex but get out of the room. Wifi doesnt quite reach up there though. Location was perfect. Right in the center of the action and lots to do and see in walking distance. Great events options available. Free pancakes were great. Staff went above and beyond to take care of guests and their belongings. Sunscreen available in lobby. Comfortable beds although the duvet was too hot in the room at times. I really felt comfortable and enjoyed this stay. Thank you!

Beautiful location, walk out the door, cross the road and you are on the world famous Bondi beach. You seriously can’t beat it. There was nothing better than waking up and going straight into the surf. Location alone is 5 stars. Hostel is pretty basic for the most part. The dorm beds had no curtains. They did have power and a light tho. You could hear music playing at night but it was alright, I slept really well. For the floor I think they had 3 showers, 3 toilets and 2 sinks so it can be a little crowded. Staff were all very friendly. After check out they let me store my bags and still use the facilities so thank you! Hostel was full of travellers of all types and they have a lot of events on. All up a great stay, location is absolutely stunning and so many cute little cafes and places to eat around the area. You can’t beat it.

Bunk was comfy, good access to power points and personal light however i found a stranger's underwear underneath the mattress that slid out as the mattress moved around (gross). I stayed in a female only dorm but there were still males “visiting” the room at times which made me uncomfortable. There is no space to open up a suitcase on the floor without getting in everyone’s way. Aircon dripped water. Roommates came back late being loud and then talking very early, with people yelling down the hallways on a Tuesday/Wednesday night was really inconsiderate and there was no intervention from staff. One corner of my bedding was ripped completely Female bathroom was mid, access to 3 toilets and 4 showers. Good hot water, felt mostly clean except bathroom floors could be cleaner. Both sinks were leaking causing the entire floor to be wet. Personally I would not stay here again due to the lack of respect from other people staying, limited space to access my things and shared wet bathroom situation. There was also a lot of tradies in and out working on things on the third floor, with some parts of the hostel feeling like a building site. Great location, close to the beach, walking distance to restaurants, convenience stores etc. I was glad to leave at the end of my stay...
