Wake Up! Café

Very friendly staff, quick to get me seated, quick to bring the food, and they kept my coffee topped off. I can see why the locals o was chatting with said they come here regularly. It was an all around wonderful experience!

We were passing through town and were lucky enough to visit this cafe along the way for breakfast. The service was incredible and the server was lovely 💕. She was more than happy to accommodate our requests and answer our questions. Another server also attended us, and he was very friendly and attentive too, what a cool guy 😎. The food was amazing and the coffee was excellent, we were impressed with how they had cooked our steaks and the waffles were delicious. I would’ve loved to have more waffles, but another party member quickly gobbled them all up! I Couldn’t recommend this place enough for a fantastic meal and great service. Thanks again, would be more than happy to return again 🙂

It's a local cafe serves good old American breakfast plus lots of Mexican food on the menu. Down to earth friendly staff and affordable Senior menu.

Chill place. Clean and amazing food! Wait time for food does not take long. Very attentive and pleasant staff. Definitely need to try this place out if you haven’t. The carne asada chilaquiles is so good!

Food was absolutely delicious and staff was wonderful! The Chilaquiles was the best we’ve ever had and the mimosas were excellent as well! Definitely our new favorite breakfast spot in Bakersfield.

So freaking good it was my first time trying this place I will definitely go back. The potatoes were my favorite!!! And the coffee was perfect, it wasn’t served warm, it was hot. Delicious.

I been hearing good things about this place so I decided to have my birthday breakfast here with my kids at 7:30am and the environment is very quiet and welcoming. Our server was super friendly and attentive and we are so glad she not only offered us regular coffee but also cafe de la olla which I wanted to try and it’s sooooo good! And their food is amazing !! I definitely recommend this place.

I had a early morning workout, and it was quite intense. I was looking for a hearty breakfast. I checked the yelp app and found the wake up café. It was only a few minutes away. It's a little tucked away in a shopping center, but it fit the bill perfectly. I ordered a California omelette with hash browns, and we toast. The service was quick and friendly. They have good coffee with constant refills. The service was great. It's a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a good meal. It looks like they're only open for breakfast and lunch. If you're looking for a quick and handy place to get breakfast, this is it.

i love a good diner! This one has large a clean dining room with a pretty white counter. Lots of comfy booths. This spot is popular - as aresult, service is a bit slow for a weekday breakfast. However, once the waitress came by, she brought water and coffee quickly. My pancake breakfast was pretty standard, nothing soecial. Friendly service and welcoming ambiance, food was meh.

I came in on a slow Friday morning around 0845 and had breakfast by myself. I was promptly seated and chose the sausage scrambler, a biscuits with gravy, and a cup of coffee. My food was brought out promptly and my coffee cup was refilled every time I turned my head. I enjoyed the spicy sausage and was overall quite pleased. I wouldn't mind coming back should I be in the area again.

We ordered to go and the food was ready as soon as we got there to pickup. The place was packed and they were still quick. The chilaquiles were spicy and delicious. I just wish they had a little more sauce.

My daughter took me there for a lunch date post Mother's Day! The restaurant was quaint and clean. The service was impeccable! Our server was the friendliest as was everyone that came by! I had the chilaquiles and they were pretty delicious! My daughter had the biscuits and gravy plate and she enjoyed it! I will definitely be back and bring my partner. I highly recommend!

5 stars for friendliness and 3 stars for food. Service was great, but if you don't get a booth to sit in, then you'll it's cafeteria style seating. All the tables are connected and you sit next to others. The food tasted fine, but it wasn't the greatest we've had, not in the top 20 of places. The eggs for the Benedict were hard boiled and not poached. We notified them of it too. Burnt hash browns. French toast was soaked in cinnamon, so each bite was just a mouthful of a cinnamon roll. Eh, like I said, it was okay. I'd recommend finding another cafe to have breakfast or brunch if you're in the area.

Rating 5 stars based on take-out: Our food was soo good and customer service was friendly! Makes me excited to go back and try other things off the menu and hopefully dine-in next time.

This place is a gem! I had to write a review since I've been here six times in a month and a half! The food is so consistently delicious! Not a single time have I been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out fast and hot! My favs are the steak chilaquiles and the strawberry banana cream cheese French toast.

I have been wanting to give this spot a try and finally made time to give them a visit. I went on a Saturday morning around 8 am and was quickly sat. The menu was filled with so many options but decided to go with the chicken fried steak and an iced coffee, my son got the Mickey Mouse pancake breakfast. The food was quickly brought out and was a delicious massive amount of breakfast! The food was hot, fresh and amazingly tasty!! The iced coffee was sweet and hit the spot. The wait staff was so sweet and friendly, overall watching them work together I got the vibe they worked like family and was a well ran team. The portions of yummy food combined with the fair prices I will be back again! They also currently have a cool summer program for dine in customers to get discounted meals. (Being vague on the discount as I can't recall the exact discount/offer and only know it's for dine in customers) I did notice around 8:30 it did get pretty busy, so the earlier you go the faster the service.

This place didn't look special from the outside but wow it was nice once I was inside. It was really busy yet we were served fairly quickly. The server was nice and the food was good! The portions were better than I was expecting. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone and I can't wait to come back.

All of our food came out so good! The service was fast & friendly. I loved the chilaquiles both the red and green are so good, I'll definitely be back, also we didn't know but there was a deal for summer where kids eat free Monday-Wednesday with adult purchase which was great (:

Had a great experience! Place is clean and welcoming. Portions are generous. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Coffee is good and my husband's cup was never empty. Prices are a bit pricey, but this is expected with today's economy and it is well-worth it. The food had great flavor and tasted authentic. I had Eggs Benedict and my husband had the Chille Relleno Omelet. Both were delicious. Will definitely come back!

On our way to Sequoia and needed breakfast. Found this place on yelp and yes you absolutely need to stop in! Large portions reasonably priced and really nice personable service. Selena was very attentive and the food was delicious!

Wife and I like to try different restaurants every week. And we can tell you that this is one of the top 5 best places. Eastside Bakersfield has a limited choice of the diners we can choose from so we are thankful to have Wake Up Cafe close by - but it's never our first choice. I guess we kinda forget about it. Food is good, service is good, and ambiance is traditional-diners.

I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it today. I was hungry for a diner style breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. We showed up around 930 and it wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. 10 minutes later the place was jampacked. The place has a very good menu with your standard diner, style, breakfast, appetizers, sandwiches, burritos and breakfast plates. They have chorizo and eggs, chile verde, enchiladas, and chile relleno. Today, they had a special appetizer that is not on the menu... chile verde fries and OMG they were bomb. The chile verde was tasty! I ordered a short stack of pancakes, which were very yummy very much how my grandmother would make them and a chorizo and egg burrito with country fried potatoes and cheese. The burrito was a good size and tasty. I thought the country potatoes were a bit bland and cut into big pieces that were firm (I prefer my tatoes on the soft side.) The coffee was okay so if you have a preference bring your own. :-) Overall, the place is clean, the seating is comfortable, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We definitely go back! I wonder if they will make us a chile verde fried burrito...hmm... Enjoy! Ps. Apparently they are known for their chilaquiles. I will try those next time.

Great food! Soo good! Fast service only begarive thing is that they werent as attentive. Maybe becuase it was soo busy, but we didnt even get napkins offered to us. Other than that it was really good food !!

I loved this spot! They have great menu items, the service was quick and we received our food quickly the food was delicious they have great nice staff kindly giving us what we asked for the vibes in there was lovely good for a date or a family brunch or breakfast!

Came in on a Monday morning, was greeted and sat right away. The service was very friendly, seems like they have a lot of regulars and gives a comfortable feeling. I had the chile verde chilaquiles, and was delicious! Very authentic taste and so good. My husband had the New York, it was seasoned so good! We really enjoyed the vibe and food here, we'll definitely be back.

Food here is always good and the servers do a awesome job I have ate here at least 20 times and it's always been consistently the same it definitely my favorite breakfast restaurant to eat at. Get the waffles!!!!

Let me start off with the service, 5 stars! And the price was not bad at all. We had so much food and paid about 45$ . The food was really good, I highly recommend the Southern fried chicken. It's very flavorful.

Co-worker and I decided to try out Wake Up Cafe the other day as we were in the area. The food was alright, nothing to write home about. I thought overall it was bland. The chile verde on the huevos rancheros was pretty good but everything else was a bit lacking. The service was by far the worst part. It was several minutes before anyone even acknowledged us when we first walked in. Then they told us to wait a minute so they could clean a table. The server cleared the table then went around to several other tables dropping off drinks, food, checks etc. before finally wiping down our table and seating us. It was nearly an hour from the time we ordered until the food was put in front of us. It was painfully slow and definitely not worth the wait. We barely saw the server and after eating we finally just walked up to the front and told them we needed our check because we were running late and they hadn't brought it to us despite us finishing our meal and them clearing down our table nearly 10 minutes earlier. I don't think I'll be back the service is just really poor for food that isn't worth that kind of hassle.

I don't even know where to start. Wow...just wow...the chilaquiles were some of the best i've ever had. Service was outstanding.

We are always looking for a new place to eat. My husband chose to go out for breakfast so we went here. I really liked it. Prices are good staff was friendly veggies in my omelet was really good. I asked for fresh salsa and it was really good. Our order was good and came out in great timing. We plan on returning to try more things on the menu. Decor is really nice So they had music playing in the background so give it a try.

Not knowing the outcome of Maggie's Cafe we were curious if things would be the same or quite different. Needless to say, everything was still just as good. The chili verde has the right amount of heat so you can actually enjoy your dish. The options of chilaquiles makes it difficult to choose just one. They all look delicious, however, I chose the steak one. The meat was cooked perfectly and placed over the top of crispy, not stale, chips. My scrambled eggs were also cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish and my family members were just as satisfied with their choices.

Decided to give Wake Up a shot since I kept hearing about it in the Bako restaurant group on Facebook. I found I wasn't disappointed. My peanut butter banana waffle was delicious, although the country potatoes were a bit underwhelming as far as seasoning went. I think I would have enjoyed the hash browns more. Husband enjoyed his omelette, and my dad enjoyed his ham steak. The staff was super friendly, and they were very accommodating of our large party. The food came out pretty quickly too considering there was six adult meals + a kid's meal. I'd go back again and try more of their options!

Good food every time! This place is always busy too which proves the point of how good it is. It's your casual diner feel. They aren't open too long so best to go early. The steak is incredibly cooked! One of their best sellers.

I was really excited to eat here based on reviews and honestly I cannot say the service wasn't good or the taste of my meal. My only complaint is is that our food was cold. I had chile verde chilaquiles the whole plate was cold the sauce the chips and beans. Maybe the food was sitting there for a while idk. I was just disappointed and I know I'm not the only person that has had this experience I've had coworkers tell me the same food taste good but it was cold. I could have said something but just didn't.

This little cafe is well worth checking out. Ordered the chicken and waffles, and the waffle was by far the best I've ever had! The service was great, friendly staff, food was hot and delicious. It was definitely busy, but our wait was not long at all. Definitely recommend for breakfast. We'll be back for sure..

Love the food, especially the Huevo Ranchos. It's one of my favorite dishes here. The service is really amazing too they make you feel like if you are home and make you feel that you are in a family. All the dishes that they serve here are a must to try. They cook amazing. The ambiance of the place makes you feel very relaxed because there are many people that come here with friends and families. We usually come often to enjoy the amazing food they offer. I recommend you come with your family and friends here. It really good.

Their food items are ridiculously overpriced for low quality ingredients. My steak was not good and it was over cooked and dry, hardly edible. My pancakes were rubbery and completely flavorless. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place was busy and loud, and the service was slow, maybe understaffed but overall not a good experience.

With a homestead country atmosphere the Wake up Café did not offer much outside that of Denny's or IHOP. Though the country fried steak was probably better than some other places that I've been to. However, the eggs came back covered in grease, the country potatoes were a bit overcooked and lacking peppers as advertised, and the waffle was missing its signature crisp to it. Where the food was lacking I feel that the service; however, was exceptional. With a crew of nine, the staff was on top of clearing tables, and bringing out food and a timely manner.

The food is really good. Will come back again. I had the seniors breakfast which was generous the pancakes were really tasty. The service took a little longer the place was full so we kind of expected that. The ambience was very family oriented. I guess they were roasting chiles as we walked in every one was coughing but then it went away.

Called in for to go order around 8:30 to be picked up at 0900, when I got there, food wasn't prepared. Everything was rushed. I would probably let it go but they put black rotten Avocado on my California omelette. Wasted my 40dollars for this place, food tasted icky. It was my first time and will never return.
