This tiny little restaurant is so cute. There are only 4 tables so obviously not a lot of room. But plenty of spots in Hanalei to find somewhere cute to eat takeout. French toast was yummy. It's not really french toast though, tastes more like an elephant ear. It's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely more like a dessert. We got the full order to split between the two of us and that's still way too much. Our friends got the hammy Sammy and raved about it

Google
Cute casual spot for counter order breakfast and some coffee. No espresso. Mostly cold brew. Had the veggies breakfast burrito ($19.50) and cold brew. Cold brew is "fine". It is mild, not horribly over roasted like some places which is nice but also not alot of character or flavor... kinda Boring roast. Burrito is huge. Granted it's a $20 breakfast burrito but at least you get alot for the buck. Split for normal people or plenty for large person like myself. Friendly service, nice small patio to take the morning sun in.

Wow! Wow! The garlic spicy shrimp is the best ever! Anywhere and I have traveled throughout Europe , Asia, USA and all 4 island of Hawaii! Thanks to my wife who found this gem!! The roe in the sauce really mades a big difference! First you taste the garlic and then the spicy kicked in.. wow! My favorite meal in Kauai!!

Google
We stopped by Wake Up Delicious for coffee in the morning (cold brew options). Then we came back to the same location for lunch. There is a limited menu, but the choices they have are all you need. Pictured is the pork and cabbage meal. Lots of food for the price. We also got chicken katsu. It was crispy and the sauce was great. The food was served out of the restaurant, no truck in sight.

Google
So delicious! Everything was hot, perfectly seasoned! Such a fun place to stop before surfing! We had the churro French toast, the garlic shrimp and the Kalua pork and it was all fab!

Amazing food, best in hanalei bay. Great view to eat your food, however seating is limited at 6-7 chairs. The coconut shrimp is phenomenal .

Google
We ordered the Garlic shrimp with a variety of their sides. You can choose between the seaweed salad, Kim chi or the Mac salad. We had 3 people order the garlic shrimp so we each picked a different side. The Kim chi tasted the same/very similar to what Costco carries. The seaweed salad and Mac salad is similar to others, nothing that really stands out about it. Now for the main entree: the garlic shrimp. It was tasty, but it’s not the best that we’ve had which is why I give it 4 stars. It has good flavor with its spices and the garlic intensity was perfect. The garlic wasn’t over powering where you can still taste it hours afterwards. 😅 The kids ordered the Kalua burrito. They thought it was “decent” but tasted oily. They thought that some guacamole would have provided a better balance for the oiliness since there was also the tater tots in it. It was spectacularly huge and can be easily shared by two people. The churro French toast was very yummy. It’s much more of a dessert than a breakfast entree because it was so sweet. The whip cream is creamy and fluffy that even with a 10 minute drive back to our vacation rental, it didn’t melt away so we were still able to enjoy its light texture. The outside of the French toast had a nice crunch with pillowy middle. With its caramel drizzle, this dish is truly diabetes in the making so enjoy it while you’re on the island! 🤣 A full order was enough for 6 of us to share at the end of our meals.

Google
The food with such view , what I could say more The coconut shrimp taste lot 🥥 flavor and I love it still little bit sweet as sweet lover The juice is fresh

Yelp
Stayed in Princeville while in Kauai and this spot is located in Hanalei. Small spot but foods are good. I believe they are open until 1pm only...we also ordered the kalua pork with cabbage and the fisherman's breakfast. All were very good and can't go wrong. Drinks we ordered were Fuzzy nut, caramel dream, Hawaiian milky way and pineapple mango orange juice. Everything was soo good and not overly sweet. Definitely a must spot when you're in Hanelei area.

Yelp
Love coming here whenever we're in Kauai. The garlic shrimp plate was a great meal after hiking the Kalalau trail! It's rich and savory, makes for a hearty breakfast. Also a huge fan of their churro French toast-the half order is plenty.

Abby C.

Yelp
got the garlic shrimp plate, dragonfruit lemonade, and half order of the churro french toast. the food was so good, i lowkey want more right now. the macaroni salad was a little heavy on the mayonnaise, but that's just my personal preference! you can pick between mac salad or kimchi. the dragonfruit lemonade just tasted like lemonade to me, but it was refreshing :) the people there were super friendly, nice, and fast. the shop itself had a bunch of cute stickers and small things to look at

Yelp
Big flavor - Big portions - Big delicious Wake up and get this deliciousness. Whether you're here for breakfast or lunch, you better come hungry and ready to eat! Wake Up Delicious is one of my favorite restaurants I've been to on the island. We got the churro French toast and the chicken katsu with kimchi. Make sure you order the half size of the churro French toast lol....portions are BIG. Best to split with someone forsure. It tastes like funnel cake and monkey bread had a baby, we really enjoyed! The ice cream in the middle to spread was delightful. The chicken katsu with teriyaki...chefs kiss. Plenty of chicken to go round. Came with a side of rice with tasty seasonings on top and some of the best kimchi I've ever had. You can also pick Mac salad or seaweed, but I think kimchi is the way to go. Definitely worth it, big mistake if you don't make the stop.

Kristen S.

Yelp
The breakfast Sammy here is phenomenal! There's some kind of mayo on it that just makes it 10/10 flavor wise. I would get this again. Husband got the burrito and the churro french toast. We loved everything.

Almiera A.

Yelp
The food is simply amazing. I got the garlic shrimp plate and half the cinnamon French toast (which was good for like 2-3 people alone). The service was nice and quick. The place the ambiance is chill and welcoming. I had 2 other people near me get the garlic shrimp after smelling it while I was eating lol great spot overall

Samantha K.

Yelp
Came here soley to try the churro French toast as it came highly recommended by the locals I spoke with. This is a half order which was more than enough for my friends and I cause we also got a savory breakfast item as well. The French toast came out more like a malasada, so fluffy and warm. Some of the edges were a little over fried and came out a bit hard to cut through. The whip cream in the center was really light and not too sweet. This is a pretty small place so if you're going with a group, it may be difficult to get the one large table. The people working there were pretty friendly and brought out your order to you if it wasn't too busy. If you're looking for espresso based drinks though, you will not find them here.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Husband got the mahi and cream cheese (fisherman's breakfast sandwich) and I got the Ry-boo egg, bacon, avocado and jalapeño cream cheese bagel. Both yummy.

Chelsea W.

Yelp
Tasty breakfast food but kind of slow. I got the French toast, which was good but very sweet! I only had the half order and it was a lot. My husband had the burrito and it was huge and good! As always, kind of expensive for breakfast food but it's Hawai'i. They only serve drip coffee and cold brew (not an espresso bar)

Molly L.

Yelp
Came here kind of on a whim. It was one of the only places open and it smelled delicious. Also super busy for a Monday! My husband got the coconut shrimp plate and I got the garlic shrimp plate. The garlic shrimp is phenomenal. Not hard to peel at all, and packed with so much flavor. Pairs so nicely with the rice and Mac salad. Small cafe with limited seating, but plenty of spots to walk to and eat off site. We're definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. Everything looked so good.

Tom S.

Yelp
Enjoyable enough food for breakfast. Nothing is wow factor. Menu is limited. There are not many places in Hanalei to eat at before 11:00am. So this place capitalizes on that reality. Small, cramped and crowded business. We were lucky to get a table. Owner is friendly and cheerful.

Lorenzo K.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and it was so delicious I came back for some Chicken Katsu for a late lunch. All the food was super delicious. Parking was very easy to find. The staff was friendly. The dining area is a little small so depending how busy they are you may have to take your food for takeout. I highly recommend coming here. I'll certainly be back!

Nancy S.

Yelp
Food is five stars. I highly recommend the Garlic Shrimp for lunch. I wish I knew what was in the sauce. Would love that recipe. My partners had Katsu chicken and were very pleased. It looked tasty. The food takes a bit of time to be prepared, but it comes out steaming hot. There are only three tables, it is a grab and go place. I forgot to order a cookie. They looked delish.

Romuel Dave C.

Yelp
Get the Garlic Shrimp. That garlic sauce tops some of the best shrimp trucks in all of Hawaii. The Mac Salad is fire. I wasn't a fan of their lemon poppy cookie, but the macadamia nut one was delicious. Definitely stop in!

Luis F.

Yelp
best place to pick up a plate and head down to the beach .. got the garlic shrimp and what a treat that was eating on the beach .. yes this place has a long wait and yes the parking is horrendous here but do commit, its worth it. Have someone place/pickup the order while you go do laps and enjoy the scenery .. cheers and aloha!

Samantha V.

Yelp
What's better than a breakfast burrito? A breakfast burrito with coffee just down the street from the beach you can take it to picnic, but if the beach isn't your scene they had a few tables to sit and eat at. At a steep $19 the burrito is quite large (enough for 2 I'd say) delicious and crispy. Extra plus for the zucchini- one of my fave veggies (don't ask why) but I love when it's incorporated into breakfast food. The mix of flavors and the extra crunch has definitely left me wishing I lived closer but that might be dangerous. I paired this one with a Hawaiian Milky Way ice coffee- sweet cold brew with caramel and chocolate mixed gave me a good bout of energy for the long travel day ahead. Would love to try one blended! Appreciate the honesty on how long it would take to make the food fresh and that would not deter me from coming back. I also loved the little corner of trinkets and forgot to snag a signed Hawaiian children's book for my daughter- all the more reason to put it on the list to go back too. There is parking close to the shops of Hanalei but I can see how they'd fill up fast in the summer but enjoyed my visit nonetheless and wish I had made more time to spend here.

Jeff G.

Yelp
Small unassuming little restaurant, only seats maybe 6-8. Had the coconut shrimp. Absolutely delicious, can't recommend this place enough

Yelp
Yum! Delicious breakfast option in Hanalei! It was pouring when we arrived, but it was cozy inside with quite a few diners. There is also some Hawaiian merchandise and a lot of stickers available for purchase. We ordered the kalua pork breakfast burrito, a half order of the churro French toast, and a macadamia cold brew coffee drink. Because of the weather and having our small kids in tow, we waited patiently for one of the 3 dine-in tables to open up. It's a fun spot to enjoy your meal, as the table overlook the Main Street outside. While the coffee was pretty standard, the food was amazing! The breakfast burrito was huge and piping hot, filled with lots of potato, cheese, egg, and pork. The churro French toast was also delicious, and the half order was made to share! It came with a huge mound of whipped cream that was a wonderful contrast to the crunchy, sugary carbs. It would be great if there were more seating available, but it's fairly portable food as well! We will definitely be back next time we are in Hanalei!

Willie A.

Yelp
Fabulous. All around fabulous. Ordered garlic chicken and a hammy Sammy with an iced coffee and a tea. Attentive, nice, and cheerful service. Provided suggestions when we were undecided. The food was HOT, not spicy hot, and not microwave hot, but fresh hot. Shrimp was cooked masterfully - excellent garlic flavor with a bit of spice heat. Rice became a perfect tool to soak up the garlic sauce from the shrimp. And I'm not sure if there is a better mac salad anywhere else on the island. The ham, egg, and cheese sandwich worked well on the ciabatta. Plentiful ham, perfectly cooked egg, and gobs of good, gooey cheese made this breakfast sandwich worthwhile. I'd order it all again and will probably come back before we head back to Washington.

James A.

Yelp
Incredible food. Came here last year for the first time, and had been dreaming about the shrimp since my most recent visit. I believe it has new owners as the name has changed, but the food and service is just as good. The coconut shrimp is the best I've ever had and so is the garlic shrimp. The portions are also bigger than most places on the island. There are only a few seats, and they are in the direct sunlight which gets very hot. I recommend taking lunch to the beach just down the road.

Olivia L.

Yelp
Alright, this is a hard one to write cause the food was fantastic and so was our experience the first time we went! But we went back for breakfast the next day and things went a little sour. Service 1/5 We showed up 5 minutes before open, hoping to beat the morning rush. We were patiently waiting for 7:00 to come around when a worker loudly says from inside "ugh there's already a f***ing line!". Then, 5 minutes after advertised open she slams the door open and turns her back on us. Long story short it was not a pleasant interaction and I wasn't inclined to stay there much longer. Not the owners fault but dang how hard is it to have some manners! Good 4.75/5. The garlic shrimp was impeccable! My husband's family is from Hawaii and even he agreed it is some of the best we've ever had. The Mac salad was a bit be heavy on the mayo but I feel like that's personal preference. The Kalia pork burrito was delicious for breakfast, the chipotle sauce really elevates it to the next level. The bagel sandwich was also yummy but I think next time I'd stick to the burrito if you want something with more local flavor. We almost asked for the burrito with Portuguese sausage instead of pork but it would've been $26 which I couldn't bring myself to pay for one burrito. Ambiance 4/5 not too much seating but there is a little covered patio. Store has some cute charm and funny items for sale. Love the pics of the old food truck too! We would go back for the food, it truly is delicious but I was didn't appreciate the morning attitude we got hit with.

Yasmeen S.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for food! This place lives up to their name that's for sure! We came here twice during our trip in Kauai and both times I ordered the garlic shrimp plate. We also got the fishermen's breakfast and kalua pork and cabbage plate. The garlic shrimp at Trucking Delicious/Wake Up Delicious is the best that I've had on the island. It's creamy, buttery, and it had plenty of flavor since they use head on shrimp. There's limited seating but we were lucky enough to get a table on their little balcony with the view of the mountains. Can't get any better with delicious food and a beautiful view. FYI if you bring a bottle they can fill it up with water for you! Save some money on buying water.

Gloria M.

Yelp
Food at Wake Up Delicious is so good. Chicken Katsu was great and hubby loved the Garlic Shrimp- said it was the best he's ever had. Docked points bc they charge for condiments which is tacky.

Megan T.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. Highly recommend. Just being along some cash in case their card machine is down.

Shan W.

Yelp
After a morning hike, we found ourselves with intense cravings for plate lunches. This spot did not disappoint! I had the kalua pork and cabbage plate and it was absolutely to die for, super tender, flavorful and in a MASSIVE portion to boot. Washed it down with the most scrumptious mango pineapple juice. I'm hungry again now thinking about it! For two our lunch came out to a little under $50, a little pricey but felt reasonable for the taste and quality.

JayJay L.

Yelp
This is the cafe location ... we tried the garlic butter shrimps with heads and shells on. Super yummy!!!! Friendly staff, clean bathrooms.

Steven N.

Yelp
There is a lot of hype coming into this place regarding their shrimp plates and or expectations are high. It's easy to see why as the vibes of this place definitely fit this small town atmosphere. Nestled in Hanalei, the restaurant boasts a small town atmosphere, which is charming and quaint. Now onto the garlic shrimp. The garlic shrimp was delicious and flavorful. You can taste the garlic in all its savoryness. It had a good amount of sauce and was complemented well with the macaroni salad and rice. This spot is definitely a place to try !

Teresa N.

Yelp
absolutely loved this place! very good place to stop by and grab lunch. what's even more cool is that they have a food truck i got the kalua pork and cabbage, my friends for the garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp lunch boxes. you can select mac salad or kimchi for your sides along with rice. my entree was $17 which is pretty pricey in my opinion. the garlic shrimp sauce was tasty and the coconut shrimp was very crispy! had to wait a bit for all our entrees so keep that in mind. there are some seats available to wait or dine in! my friends and I ate it at the beach and it was a wonderful meal

Emily C.

Yelp
If you dine here, you not only wake up delicious but you'll wake up thinking about this place every single day because this place is just that good. We came for brunch one day and had the kahlua pork burrito. It's a generous size with super tender kahlua pork and tater tots inside. It's seasoned with a tasty sauce but we enjoyed eating it with the hot sauces they had in the restaurant. There are 2-3 smalls tables on the balcony and bar-style seating by the window. We came back for the full menu and were so glad we did. Do not miss out on the garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp. Both are amazing but very different flavors, so get both! The mac salad was definitely the best on the island-- super creamy and savory. We also indulged ourselves on the churro bread. It's doused in whipped cream and tastes like heaven. Tips: there is ample parking across the street. You get a discount if you pay in cash!

Cara C.

Yelp
The girl taking our order was insanely rude. I asked if I could do a burrito with no veggies and she mocked me and say they could not do that. I understand saying no but there's no need to be rude when asking a simple question.

Sean S.

Yelp
The staff here are incredibly friendly and accomodating. The veggie is a vegetarian's breakfast dream with vegan "sausage" and egg that oozes out if the perfectly toasted brioche. Fear not if you're a meat eater, they've more than got you covered. On thevweekdays they serve breakfast only until noon.

Skipp E.

Yelp
This place is super good. Food is fantastic and so is the presentation. The storefront has so many cool gizmos and stickers, I wanted to buy them all. My only complaint is them not staying open later as it's definitely a place I want to eat more than once. The restaurant layout is super fun as well, love the tool boxes and stuff Ps my all time fav Mac salad in any of the islands to date !

Kat C.

Yelp
That churro French toast is one of the best things I've ever eaten. You only need a half order, even if you're sharing, because it's big and it's sweet. But omg, I will dream about it forever. It's so good. We shared that and a savory breakfast option that was very good. I hope to get the chance to try more!

Alex L.

Yelp
I loved the breakfast burrito here! In the super cute town of Hanalei, my partner and I split a breakfast burrito and brought it to the beach to have one last beach picnic morning before (sadly) getting on a flight back to SoCal that same day. Their breakfast burrito hit all the notes. The only thing I wish they had was maybe sour cream on the side or some salsa that wasn't ghost-pepper based to dip it into. Despite that, it was still delightful. Pricey at $19, but you're on vacation; so it's time to splurge! I'd definitely come back here. Don't come here expecting a super quick turnaround, it probably took them about 20 minutes to get our burrito out, but they do give you a pager and you can come check out all the cute shops nearby!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Ham is not my favorite however, the Hammy Sammy was so YUMMY YUMMY. My sister and I shared one along with the Churro French Toast. Oh my oh my. You need to try this place and write home about it. They don't have many seats but we invited ourselves to join some fellow tourists and had a grand time sharing stories.

Juls B.

Yelp
Yay! Found a yummy breakfast spot! Affordable too. Portions are sharable bonus! I definitely recommend the Kalua Pork Breakfast burrito and churro French toast! Mocha was really good! Fuzzy Nut coffee drink was too watery and didn't taste like anything. I would probably have tried the juices instead. Service was chill and fast. Ambiance well, looking at ginormous waterfalls isn't too bad either. Would highly recommend this place if you are in North Shore Kauai!!

Shawn S.

Yelp
Amazing and unique menu. Absolutely a must try if your semi close to the North shore. The view from the back patio is breathtaking! The servers are very friendly and helpful. The churo French toast is DANGEROUSLY good!

Chrissy R.

Yelp
look for WAKE UP Delicious sign. Was yummy! Got the garlic shrimp w Mac salad, and a chicken sandwich from the fridge for Hanalei - was soooo good. The other reviews said it was shrimp w the head on but I was kinda glad it was deshelled which made it easier to eat on the beach. Big takeaway selection in the fridge: sandwiches, Ube rice pudding, fruit, etc We also got banana bread for the little one. Fun little Knick knacks and souvenirs too which my baby knocked over (a wooden sign) but they were really nice about (sorry!). Wish we had more room in our tummy for more!

Beatriz E.

Yelp
La comida súper rica y el servicio fenomenal 10/10 nos faltó probar más y todo lo que probamos fue de 10

Laura O.

Yelp
I wouldn't normally order garlic shrimp for breakfast, but I'm convinced that this was the right call at Wake Up Delicious because it was just so darn tasty. The shrimps, doused in an intensely garlicky, buttery, and slightly spicy sauce, were jumbo-sized and served heads-on. You also get a nice heap of rice, which you can dip into the shrimp sauce. I got the seaweed salad as my side, which was refreshing and flavorful. It seems that Wake Up Delicious used to be a food truck called Trucking Delicious, but they moved into a brick-and-mortar shop in the bustling area along Hanalei's Kuhio Highway. There are a few seats indoors and on the small patio, or you can take your food out to the beach.

Agnes Y.

Yelp
This place is now called Wake Up Delicious. We tried their garlic shrimp and Kalua Pork and they were both delicious! The garlic shrimps were head on and shell on, and were drenched in an abundance of a tasty lemon garlic butter sauce. It came with a scoop of rice and your choice of seaweed salad, macaroni salad, or kimchi. The sauce was so yummy and was perfect with rice. I especially liked sucking on the shrimp heads! The Kalua Pork had a nice smoke flavor to it. The macaroni salad and seaweed salad were both really good also. There were only a few tables and we were lucky to be able to get one. Though small, the place was cute and lively. From the tables, there's a good view of the street and the passersby. It was a very enjoyable lunch. I highly recommend this place.

Katerina K.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with these garlic shrimps and the views during your lunch. Highly recommend!!

Wendy N.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service and cute trinkets for sale in this place! We loved it and enjoyed our breakfast so much, we went back the next day as well. We also bought some of the items in the shop!

Nina D.

Yelp
The fisherman's sandwich was absolutely outstanding - I was iffy about having mahi fish cream cheese, but my god it was good and not fishy at all. Loved the fresh veggies, loved the fish cream cheese and the everything bagel. This was great fuel for swimming all morning! $17 is expensive for a bagel, but dang, imma miss this when I leave. I'll be back! Also, I smiled at staff and they were kind to me, so I don't know what the other comments are about?!?!

Evelyn K.

Yelp
My goodnessss!!! So delicious so so so much flavor. If you don't know hat to get the garlic shrimp is probably the best thing they have. The Mac salad was okay but mixed with the rice and some sauce 10/10. Mustard try in Kauai

Katie S.

Yelp
A disappointing first time experience here. My interactions with the staff was weird and confusing (except the young lady at the counter, she was nice and tried her best to give a good customer experience). I took a look at their menu, and it was very small and mainly bread-heavy items. I asked when ordering if they had any options that weren't bread based - in which i was offered gluten free bread! Okay, so that gave the impression this place can make some accommodations...well that was where their willingness ended. I saw they had lettuce and sprouts in some of their menu items - so I ordered a burrito bowl and asked if I could add sprouts and lettuce...They REFUSED. Then I asked if I could maybe get a small side salad (asked for basic mixed greens, cucumber and tomato), they refused....even though I said I'd gladly "pay for any upcharge". I just wanted something green or fresh alongside an otherwise heavy salty meal. The food came out and just didn't look very appetizing to me. Flavor was fine, but not worth the rest of the experience. Best part, they offer salads in their "grab n go" fridge...so they can in-fact make salad...just not a simpler one for me I guess. As a comparison, I went to a small cafe in Hanapepe (an even smaller town than Hanalei) the day before, and the staff had ZERO problem swapping the rice on my plate for mixed greens. Didn't make me feel like I was asking for too much. Now that was a good experience. For breakfast Hanalei, I'll stick to other spots in town going forward.

Kimberly Y.

Yelp
My kind of place. Local food done well. Breakfast burrito is huge filled with kalua pork, eggs and tator tots. They had alot of other items I would like to try including plate lunches

D Y.

Yelp
If you do not get the Churro French Toast, you will be denying yourself an incredible palate pleasure. I would truly fly all the way back to Kauai just to have the Churro French Toast. It's that good! And, I don't even like churros and I still loved this! The only problem is regular french toast is forever ruined for me now. I mean how can I possibly go back to plain french toast after this experience?! Note that the portions are huge. My pic is the HALF portion! But, really, it's so dang good - get the full size portion!

William M.

Yelp
Food was nice and fresh. But in some ways too extreme (the churros French toast was just deep fried donut and didn't have any of the bread-pudding texture French toast is supposed to have) or kind of bland (kalua pork was very bland while the macaroni salad was way over salted). I would recommend it. Esp early in the mornings when it is quiet. Staff incredibly kind and the atmosphere was fun.
