Wakeup Copenhagen is classified as a "budget hotel". Despite the lower pricing (we paid about $113 per night), it's not a low quality hotel, and it's really quite nice. It's a newer hotel (our location was built in 2009, the other location in 2014), clean, and has style. It's also a convenient 10 minute walk from Central Station (which itself is a quick train ride from the airport). The rooms are small, however they are clean and quiet, and the water in the shower is actually hot, which was much appreciated after just staying in a hostel in Iceland where the water never got quite hot enough (and this is from a country that has an abundance of geothermal energy and hot water). There is also free wi-fi throughout the hotel as well as desktop computers for guests to use in the lounge.
Overall I was very satisfied with Wakeup Copenhagen, and would recommend this hotel. However, there are some minor inconveniences/things to note:
1. They will not provide an extra pillow. On my travels throughout Europe, I've discovered that hotel pillows are soft and mushy (even the thicker ones that appear to be firm) and inadequate for people who need a firmer pillow and some elevation (I'm definitely going to bring a small pillow the next time I travel!). Wakeup Copenhagen was no exception. However, hotels (even the hostel in Iceland) generally are willing to provide an extra pillow (even though a second pillow still doesn't cut it because they are so soft). But not Wakeup Copenhagen. I even asked if I could pay for a second pillow, but nope--they simply WON'T provide a second pillow. They did, however, give me some extra towels to fold underneath my pillow.
2. They do not have rooms with two single beds--you must share a bed with your travel companion. (My sister and I were aware of this when we booked the room--we did extensive research when booking accommodations in Europe.) While the bed wasn't a luxurious queen sized bed, it was perfectly adequate for a couple, but a little uncomfortable for two people who aren't on intimate terms (incest just ain't my thing--no Flowers in the Attic moment for us!). However, my sister had a good suggestion--to rotate our orientation 90 degrees and sleep widthwise instead of lengthwise. We are quite short (I'm five feet tall and she's just a shade shorter), so our feet barely hung over the edge of the bed when fully stretched out, and we had plenty of space between us. We were quite comfortable, save for the mushy pillows.
3. I do not recommend the breakfast. The breakfast consisted of an assortment of cold cuts, sliced cheese, bread, eggs, etc, similar to several of our other accommodations. However, the quality of the food just wasn't good (even the hostel in Iceland, which had a similar breakfast, was much better). Definitely save your money and go to Andersen Bakery for breakfast, which is across from Central Station.
