Google
Great little food truck serving up a wide assortment of burgers! Got the double cheese burger - delicious. Nice crisp lettuce, good flavour on the fried onions, meat was smashed and fried and still juicy, bun was fresh.

Andrea

Google
Food: Overall, it was delicious Japanese burgers. They are smaller than the average Western burger. Really delicious, unique, and fresh burgers. Juicy patties with lots of filling, between two soft buns. The corn dog, on the other hand, is a bit disappointing. It's not as tasty as the burgers. Favourite dish(es): Chicken Cutlet, Teriyaki Burger Service: Usually, one person is behind the counter. Great customer service. Other Comments: Check out the "Street Food Vancouver" app for their locations and hours. Recommend: Definitely a yes!

Google
Expect long waits during peak lunch periods, and even longer for their more premium burgers. However, the regular hamburgers (with or without cheese) simply cannot be beat at this price point. The French Fries are absolutely amazing, they always remind me of what New York Fries strives to achieve. They do not skimp out on sauces on their burgers so be aware. I adore the chicken burgers they have over the other protein options. Cooked fresh to order, what more can you ask for?

Google
We ordered regular burger_ which was smaller than my expectation_ and Okonomi burger, both were tasty. Definitely worth to try it specially because of its decent price. We also ordered corn dog, that wasn't meet the expectation, the susage was very small. The owner was so friendly and the location is okay. November 19th 2022

Google
Heard about this place on Facebook and just had to check it out. I ordered the regular burger as well as the teriyaki burger. Both were good, definitely worth a try at least once. The staff was also very friendly, and chatty. Will probably go back again to try their other flavors.

Google
The rumours are true. Yes, you can get a burger for $2.85. Comes with crisp lettuce, juicy patty, sliced onions and a squirt of ketchup. Oh, and that toasty bun too! Great size for a snack. I'd order two for lunch. There are other varieties for an additional charge. Expect to wait 5-10 mins for your order. Service is very friendly.

Google
One of the cheapest and best burger places in downtown Vancouver! This place is renowned for their famous $2.85 burger. I highly recommend you try one of these. I love these so much that I unintentionally took a bite out of mine before I took a picture of it. Also, quick tip: if the patty seems too thin, then get a double burger for only a dollar extra. Give it a try!

Nicole

Google
Tried their Teriyaki Cheese Burger for the first time and loved it!! You really can't beat this price with the qualify of the burger, especially in Vancouver. Great service with very fresh ingredients and the bun is super soft as well. This is definitely better than In-N-Out in my opinion. Would definitely go back. (Btw today they were at W 8th & Manitoba, on W 8th)

Yelp
Great burgers and good service. They are set up in Kerrisdale and it's always been good. Lucky to have one near me in Kerrisdale.

Yelp
Solid burger with a Japanese flair at a very affordable price! I got the chicken nanban burger, the teriyaki burger, and their okopote (okonomiyaki-style fries). The burger was great but the flavor of the beef was definitely a bit lacking. The chicken sandwich was my least favorite of the items I ordered, as the cutlet was rather small (I had the highest expectations, so maybe that contributed as well). The fries were amazing though -- I've gone since my first visit to get just the fries before. The sauce is lacking in the bottom but you can always re-up at the cart! The service is immaculate. Each time I've been served by someone else, and they have been nothing less than polite. Great local spot for a quick bite -- I'd take this over Japadog any day of the week.

Yelp
I've been going to Wak Wak Burger since they used to be called $2.75 burger. I got the regular hamburger ($4.75) and the okopote fries ($6.95). I always get the regular hamburger as its a no frills burger that does the trick. It satisfies my burger cravings perfectly. The bun is toasted with butter on the grill. The patty isn't thick but they grill it so that there's a nice crust on it and it adds that extra chew and flavour. They give you a generous amount of ice burger lettuce which makes it refreshing and I'm a suckered for any burger with ketchup on it. This was the first time I got fries and they didn't disappoint. They weren't as crispy as I would have liked. But I loved the sauce and the addition of the Bonito flakes. These were crazy addicting Overall I would like to keep this a hidden gem but I'm sure everyone already knows about it. They show up either at Kerrisdale, river district, downtown or Olympic village. They update their Facebook page regarding their whereabouts everyday at 11am. If you want to catch them, you can check there

Yelp
Stopped by for a snack after our walk around River District. We decided to order one basic burger and a fancier one. So we went with the chicken cutlet burger and cheeseburger. Cheeseburger- for $5.45 it's a good deal. The bun was fluffy and the burger patty was juicy and edges were crisp. My only issue was that they don't use real cheddar cheese because I'm not a fan of processed cheese. Chicken cutlet burger- fried chicken thigh with plenty of cabbage and sauce. This was a heavy burger and very large. The chicken was crisp and juicy. The sauce added a sweetness. But I think it could have used some acidity from pickles or another sauce to balance it out. It was still a delicious burger, but I don't think I'd be able to eat the whole thing by myself. Overall, we were pretty happy with this meal. It was around $17 in total, which is a pretty good deal for how filling it was. We saw some people with fries that looked good. So we'll have to try it next time.

Yelp
Tried this little food truck on a whim while shopping at Buchan's Kerrisdale Stationery (shout out to all the stationery lovers!) I got their Okonomi Corn Dog but I wish I didn't. I knew that it was going to be half cheese and half hot dog but their ratio was off for me. It was three-quarter cheese and one-quarter hot dog.. Not worth the high price they charge. The batter was also so heavy and too thick. The toppings were okay in flavour. You're better off saving your money and tastebuds by going to Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog. My brother also got a pop and it was served at room temperature. Service was normal--nothing bad but also nothing to rave about. It's a food truck after all. There are some benches nearby where you can sit and eat. Other than that, it's more of a to-go item--enjoy of the ambiance of the streets! Next time I'll have to try their burgers to update my rating, but I don't have very high expectations.

Yelp
This food truck run by a husband and wife, and has decent burgers. Service is fast and they're the nicest couple. I even used them to cater for an office event and picked up over 100+ burgers.
google avatar

Kenneth W.

Yelp
This Burger truck is in kerrisdale on a regular basis. It's a great option if you're hungry and just need something to fill the void in your tummy. The basic Burger will do that job. For the money, it hits the spot. Considering it's cooked to order, for the money, it's not a bad deal. Prices have gone up but, hey, so has everything else. So in comparison, it's still one of the cheapest burgers in town.

Yelp
One-line review: Some good ideas but fairly average execution. That apparently got saved before I was ready to post. We ate Wak Wak when it was setting up in Kerrisdale; that apparently has gone well, as I see them here regularly now. We had: Okonomi burger (sliced cabbage, okonomi sauce, Japanese mayo, red pickled giner) Teriyaki Cheeseburger (with American cheese - blech) Large fries (generous) Everything was decent -- nothing extraordinary. I'd try it again on a whim when we're walking by, but even though we've passed it when we go for walks, we haven't stopped by again. Parking is at meters on 41st Ave or free in the neighbourhood, if you can find a spot. Bottom line: It'll do, but I'm not rushing back.

Yelp
I love this Japanese fusion food truck. I got the okopote because I needed some food before I go to small group without something too heavy so this Japanese style poutine was perfect! The fries paired with the mayo, soy sauce, ginger (similar to the topping you'd find on takoyaki) was a perfect twist that satisfied both of my fries and takoyaki craving. The person in the food truck was also surprisingly cheerful on this cold wet and dark work day. Thank you for brightening up my day! 10/10 would come back again. The business card was also an ingenious design with the complete menu fitted on the flip side. I'm keeping this at my desk so I can pick out what I want ahead of time next time haha.

Yelp
Decent and surprisingly cheap Japanese style burger food truck. Looks like it's run by a Japanese mom and pop deal. Mom is definitely friendly. Menu items look very similar to what one would find at Japadog. I wasn't sure what to try so I had the teriyaki burger special. It's a decent sized burger. Larger than a Big Mac but smaller than a Whopper in terms of diameter. Tastes like something one would find at a friend's BBQ, but with mayo and teriyaki sauce thrown in. Just a heads up. It's a bit messy to eat. Best to keep it inside the wrapper. Wouldn't mind trying some more items in the future.
google avatar

Arleen C.

Yelp
The person serving us was really friendly. We ordered the okonomi dog and the potato cheese dog. The first essentially tasted like a takoyaki with the sauce and seaweed on it but with cheese as well. The other was just potato chunks on the outside with cheese on the inside. Oddly enough the actual hot dog was only inside the lower half of them. So it was half a dog per order. The batter on both dogs was undercooked and actually raw near the end of eating that we threw out the rest of it. Glad we tried it. It was tasty, but not something I'd get again due to the raw batter and half a dog missing.

Yelp
Reading the other reviews, the price has definitely gone up a fair bit but it is still the cheapest burger around, especially from a food truck. It is now $3.99 for a regular basic burger. I ordered the teriyaki cheeseburger for $4.99. I liked the sauce but found the burger to be sticky and saucy. It was a hot mess. I could not slide the burger around so I had to start from the part where it was dry and just had veggie. The meat patty was at the other end where it was a gloppy mess. The bun was also gummy. While it was a tasty and pretty cheap made to order burger, I wished it was less messy with better bun to hold the sauce. The meat patty was definitely thin but hey for the price you could not expect more. It was still filling for me. If you are used to more meat or a heavier meal, maybe get the double patty burger.

Bobby E.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Definitely recommend! The man serving people was very friendly, and when he messed up my order, he fixed it extremely quickly, and was extremely apologetic. Cute little food truck!

Yelp
We ran into WWB in Kerrisdale today parked right on W. 41st and their $3.99 regular burger immediately caught our eyes . It's getting cold outside so why not right ? While the lettuces are crispy and onions plentiful , the beef pattie itself left us a bit wanting . But then again it's only 4 bucks so we're not complaining .

Max W.

Yelp
This food truck has great burgers. I tried the teriyaki burger & it was juicy & delicious. Not crazy bout their shoe string fries, they were kinda greasy, but the burger was worth it.

Yelp
I love Wakwak -- their burgers are cheap and delicious -- so it pains me to downgrade them to two stars, but downgrade them I must. While their burgers are still cheap and delicious, their lack of consistency with their opening hours is the reason for the downgrade. First of all, they never seem to open at a consistent time. Their Facebook page says 11am, although I think in reality they open at noon (I've asked them and have gotten several different answers -- 11am, 11:30am, and noon). There have been times that I have arrived at 12:15pm, only to have to wait 20 minutes because of all the people who arrived before me and were waiting for their order, and there have been times when I have arrived just past noon to beat the crowd, only to have to wait over ten minutes because they weren't open yet. (The reason I waited only ten minutes is not because they would actually open after ten minutes, but because I left.) So basically, either you're waiting a long time because of the crowd, or you're waiting a long time because they haven't opened yet, despite it being during their opening hours. OK, things happen, and I don't mind waiting if they are running a few minutes behind schedule. But if it's more than five, let people know! And it's not just once in a while, but on a regular basis. This has happened numerous times, but I let it slide -- hey, their burgers are only three bucks. But after today, I had enough. I went to Wakwak today and got there around 12:10pm. Big surprise, but they weren't open yet. There were two people waiting, and they said they had been waiting for about five to ten minutes and had just called them and were told they would open in ten minutes. So I decided to wait, in the pouring rain, under the Starbucks awning, with the other two customers. After ten minutes had passed, I called Wakwak and asked when they would open. Like a taxi company, when you've been waiting for 45 minutes, despite being told twice already that your ride would arrive in "five to ten minutes", they told me another five to ten minutes. I told the other customers this, and we all said fuck this and left. [Yelp collections: Poor and hungry?]

Yelp
Patty isn't thick but starting from $2.85, its pretty much the cheapest good quality burger you can get in Vancouver. I got the Teriyaki burger with tax for $3.40. Loved it. It was so tasty. Japanese style. Yes Japanese ran. Its like japadog but japaburger style. I think I need two to fill myself up. One isn't enough. It is a food truck so you have to double check their location and hours. May change. Taste, value and price puts them in a 5 stars position. Loved them. Will come back and highly recommend.

Shili L.

Yelp
Just plain delicious. First of all, the cooks are very friendly and always serve huge burgers. The corn dogs are so underrated. They have a great pull. The ambience is nice and there's music playing as well as nice lighting.

Retro Tech N.

Yelp
Burger from the truck had very small patties (two are smaller than a quarter pounder patty) and tasted very low quality as if it is mixed with something that is not beef. Definitely won't be going back.
google avatar

Shonah M.

Yelp
Quick, easy, tasteful & cheap - just how I like my food trucks! Wakwaks $3 original burger is actually very tasty & not heavy on the gut! One of the best cheap burgers I've had in awhile! This burger ranks higher than my other cheap burger fav. down the I5. Located on Granville St. @ Pender most of the time - this food truck is totally worth a try! This burger is simple with no fluff! Bun, lettuce, tomato were all fresh. The teriyaki sauce on the bun makes it a - wonder burger! I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Can't decide between the 3 or 4 star rating for this one... For the prices and a food truck, it's seriously a steal eat for downtown yet on the other hand, the execution of it can get real messy. I decided to live the "student" life and grabbed this as dinner before I headed to class. The teriyaki burger comes up pipping out so I'd advise grabbing loads of napkins because the sauce makes it very hard to eat. The burger wrapper is quite thin so the oils can seep through as well. Overall, it's a cheap quick eat. The burger patty isn't super thick (as expected) and the sauce was slightly too salty. It was very messy to eat and it wasn't as filling as I had thought. Definitely not a hard hitter on the wallet but if I'd have to come again, I might have to grab a couple of burgers to keep the tummy satisfied.
google avatar

Cyrus I.

Yelp
They are back.. awesome food truck with cheap and awesome burgers.. they have new menu with more choices now but their main $2.85 burger is still available. Compared to McDonald, A&W, Burger King and other fast food choices this is way better for taste and value for money. I have never had their fries so cannot compare to fast food fries. They also don't have veggie or chicken options - just beef burgers. Be warned lunch time this place usually has a line up but it's worth it in my opinion. Oh and they now accept credit and debit cards too which is huge plus as initially they were cash only.
google avatar

Teresa V.

Yelp
The lady owner/order taker harly speaks English - I repeated my order (cheese teriyaki with fries) at least 5x before she understood. Anyway, the burger is quite small so ordering 2 is probably the way to go if your appetite is big. I thought the onions were a good addition to this burger - gave it a sweet taste. I was disappointed that the cheese used was plain cheddar cheese - it definitely brought the taste down. Buns were a bit too hard. Fries were mediocre

Izumi K.

Yelp
They have wide variety of burgers, and they were a good size for not being too filling, which I like to avoid. A friendly Japanese couple were working and happily answered any questions I had. and I would definitely go back to try another one.

Jonald C.

Yelp
I have seen wakwakburger on the streets of Granville many times, but we never had a chance to try it! We got the original and teriyaki burger. The teriyaki burger only seemed to be like the original burger but with teriyaki sauce and some onions. Both were very flavourful, but I thought that the teriyaki sauce was too salty for my tastes. Furthermore, they use processed cheese and was a bit on the small side, but that's to be expected of a cheap fast food truck. Overall, for the price (~$7 total) I would say it's worth it. They increased the prices from $2.85 to $2.99 for a basic burger, but I hope that they'll keep the prices low.

George L.

Yelp
Ok a heads up. This rating would have been zero if it was available. To clarify, my rating had nothing to do with the quality of the food. That's because I never had a chance to try it. THESE guys NEVER showed up! I read they were bad on their timing. So I ventured out at 11:30 to the Granville and west Pender location. It wasn't there after I had checked earlier in the morning that they would be there at 11. Bummer. So, maybe the truck was invisible. A cloaking device? Nah...checked site again and it now said 12. So, I decided to give them a mulligan. Guess what? The truck still didn't arrive at 12:25 so I left Hungry and disappointed. A waste of my time. My advice - if you say 11, that's 11 in my books. Change to 12, fine but not ok. And then don't show up? WTF? Bon voyage!
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
The teriyaki cheeseburger was a good snack for under $5. As mentioned, the patty was small and thin but otherwise tasty. If I had to come a second time, I'd ask for less teriyaki sauce because it'd be too overpowering for the rest of the burger. The caramelized onions were a delight though!
google avatar

Nelson C.

Yelp
For $3 taxes in you can't get much better for a burger. And what a burger it is! It seems like a 4oz patty but the burger is good. The burger is sauced with some sort of sweet teriyaki sauce with mustard. The lettuce is fresh and the burger comes with three slices of tomato from what I can tell. The staff is friendly and the burgers are neatly packaged. Its certainly better than fast food burgers although a BK Whopper might give this a run for its money on a Wednesday. But the original $2.85 burger is really satisfying and tastes cleaner. I don't know how to describe it. But if you try a whopper and the original $2.85 burger at the same time you'll understand what I mean. But come here and try this burger out. Its inexpensive and filling. Not sure if the fry and drink combo reflects the same value but I suppose they are trying to compete with the chain restaurants.

Yelp
We are tourists, love coming to Vancouver and felt like a good burger this time around. We Yelped best burger in the area and this place popped up. Overall, it was pretty tasty, but I wouldn't come back to have again. The burger is fairly small (satisfied my hunger as a heavy snack), the meat is thin, but the bread is very soft and had the traditional toppings of lettuce, cheese, and onion ... it kind of tasted like a large White Castle burger (no secret sauce) but with the soft bread and thin meat ... it tasted like White Castle. There was a small line/wait when we got there so other people like this spot as well. It just wasn't a favorite. But it was affordable!! Like $8 (included tax) for two cheeseburgers. We did not try the fries.
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
Great burger on the go! The price is just right. Fresh grilled bun, hot burger, the dressings all of it just stops the hunger tho you may want to order the double patty or or order two if your hungry.
google avatar

Sharmaine I.

Yelp
I'm so thrilled that they're finally back!!! The burger is very cheap for $2.85 + $3.50 for combo and tastier than some fastfood burger. They also have a nice and cheerful cashier which is a plus for me.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Now we're talking! Perfect burger to bun ratio. Bun was fresh and perfectly toasted. Good quality beef and toppings. Super friendly chef! The whole experience exceeded our expectations. Keep up the great work :) ... 2 burgers (1 was a double), and a bottle of water for under $10?!? Yes please!
google avatar

Jesse T.

Yelp
Honestly wak wak burger is my favorite food truck. It's exactly what you want from a food truck, japanese american fusion, cheap prices, amazing fast service, and not to mention fresh tasty food. I've tried many of their burgers, including their chicken burgers, all hit their own unique flavour profile (think japadog, but more reasonably priced). And you really can't go wrong here, if im really hungry I'll order a double burger and a chicken cutlet burger. Super filling, and all under 8 dollars.
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
Small and efficient. Little burgers that pack a big flavour punch. They hit the spot but are not the most filling. I had two, but probably could've had 3 or 4. That being said for 8 dollars you can do a hell of a lot worse than two burgers from here
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
This is definitely my favourite burger and fries in Vancouver! I love the Teriyaki Cheese Burger and they're traditional fries!! They always receive me with a smile and good mood! They work with love and for me this is the most important thing! I'm always happy when I buy there, because they treat everyone with smiles and excellent customer service!
google avatar

Amid S.

Yelp
For the price, you're getting a homemade burger with fresh ingredients. I want them there open 24/7 all the time.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
Wasn't really expecting much cause it's just a tiny burger cart but it was surprisingly delicious! One burger is a good snack and two was perfect for lunch, really liked the teriyaki cheese. There's a bit of a line but it moves quickly and the workers are super cute and sweet.
google avatar

Vicky M.

Yelp
The girl receiving orders was very friendly and understanding. I ordered the cheeseburger which costs a little more than the original burger, but it was worth the extra change for the cheese. However, it was not as filling as a normal urger as it is quite small. The total for the cheeseburger came to $3.05 after tax. The wait was longer than I would expect for a such a simple burger, but I think they make the burgers to order because the bun and patty were still hot. The cheese was also melted really nicely. They also had many condiments laid out with containers so that you can take the sauce on the go:) Though the burger is not the best burger out there, it was definitely worth the price for a quick eat. I have mixed feelings about this place, but I really enjoyed it. Who wouldn't enjoy a warm burger on a cold day?
google avatar

Shila B.

Yelp
Found this on the way back from a meet up. The cheapest and frankly one of the better burgers that I've had in the city. I only paid $3 for a burger and the second time combo'd up with fries and a drink for $7. Way better quality and cheaper than some of the fast food joints in the city. I love how they use the combination of ground beef and pork. The cook and assumed owner was super friendly.

C T.

Yelp
Yes, they are back!! I am not sure what these other people expect for $2.85? The burger is small like their price but it is delicious. If you want a meal, order two burgers and some fries. You can afford it. It will be worth your while. The burger was smoking hot right off the grill. Yes, it was still delicious but I was not too thrilled with the bun although it was nicely toasted. It tasted different from the previous ones. Overall, it was pretty a darn good burger and I would have one of these over the ones at any other fast food burger joint. Really, you cannot lose.

P O.

Yelp
Was excited that they were back from being gone for so long. Their base $2.85 burger is NOT the same as before they left. I can only assume what used to be their basic $2.85 burger is now their Teriyaki burger. Went to get some $2.85 burgers today excited to bite into a juicy burger with teriyaki sauce and tomatoes, only to find that it was just lettuce and a whole lot of onions with a thin patty and a bit of ketchup. Still a decent burger, but definitely not what I expected.
google avatar

Lucia Z.

Yelp
Surprisingly good for a $3 burger. One of the best buns I've had- perfectly toasted on the outside and chewy on the inside. Great patty/bun/sauce/lettuce/tomato ratios. Refreshing veggies and a savoury teriyaki-esque sauce. Good size, too.

Vivien L.

Yelp
Great service and price! I ordered a cheese burger from them and I would highly recommend. I love the size of their burgers. It's perfect for anyone who wants a light snack after shopping around downtown.

Penny C.

Yelp
Given the time frame when I went to the food truck , there were no lineups and we ordered our burgers right away; however, we waited for about 20mins for our food even though there wasn't a lineup at all. The food were delicious and over all great experience except for the longer wait time :)

Salvador R.

Yelp
It's the best 3 dollar burger I've ever had, and and the fries are really delicious too!, the only problem is that they don't accept cards, but other than that it's perfect
