Wald & Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe

Lovely, multi-building property in a large, beautifully maintained park bordering a golf course. Very friendly and professional staff, most of whom spoke English. Warm, welcoming, gracious and classy environment. We stayed in a spacious suite (115) in the historic hunting lodge and loved the accommodation and tranquility. Exceptional cuisine (including a most wonderful breakfast) and service in both formal and more casual - which are very cozy and charmingly decorated - restaurants. We’d without question choose this hotel again were we to return to the area, and recommend it very highly for a memorable stay.

The Wald & Schlosshotel can only be described with superlatives. We found it absolutely fantastic, and the service incredibly customer-focused. From check-in, we felt welcomed and right at home. Our restaurant reservation for the evening hadn’t come through by email, but the staff had already reserved a table for us just to be safe. Very thoughtful! For dinner, we were greeted at the reception by a wonderful older lady who guided us to our table. The service was excellent and friendly, with every effort made to please us. The food was also very tasty. We were offered a schnapps to make up for a couple of small hiccups, and because the staff handled things so professionally, we didn't even notice or weren't bothered by it —but of course we didn’t refuse a schnapps. The second night we ate at the Bonsai restaurant. Again great service and the food was delicious. Nice that they offer such a different type of restaurant as well. Breakfast was a highlight. I always look forward to hotel breakfasts, but this one took it to the next level: a wide selection of delicious, fresh options, plus items à la carte such as several egg dishes, crepes and smoothies. The wellness area is spacious, with a range of treatments and massages, a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool, plenty of lounging space, and several saunas. Do try the foam sauna—it’s a fun experience. We stayed in the Jagdschloss. A beautiful, spacious room in classic Baroque style, with reliable air conditioning, a Nespresso machine, and an inclusive minibar. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The extraordinary service plays the leading role here—you feel very welcome, and everything is geared toward making your stay enjoyable.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Our room was very spacious, and the bathroom was nice and well-designed. While some of the restaurants were closed during our visit, the one available to us was excellent. We opted for the five-course menu, which was absolutely delicious—featuring high-quality, local ingredients that we really appreciated. The highlight of our stay was definitely the spa. It’s an award-winning spa for a reason! We both had treatments, which were incredibly relaxing, and we loved the beautiful pool and sauna area. The whole experience was just perfect for unwinding. Overall, a fantastic stay, and we’d love to come back!

I've been two days (1 night) at the hotel with my friends and we definitely enjoyed the atmosphere, the kindness and discretion of the employees, the food (wow!!!!) and the SPA. I strongly recommend it to get some relaxing time in luxurious but not ostentatious environment. CM

Lovely hotel in a beautiful area. Friendly and very hospitable staff. I loved the classic rooms of Schloss building, comfortable and chic, with a spacious bathroom. Despite you need to walk approximately 100m to the main building for breakfast (which is super) or Spa, the park view from room’s window worth it. Wellness and Spa is great. Only point for improvement - become more kids friendly 😉 otherwise a great venue for relaxation for adults and kids. Food in Waldschänke was good, flexible adjustments to food preferences such as gluten/lactose free were easy. The gluten free bread buns for breakfast were delicious, still warm from the oven.

The rooms and area are nice, but it's overpriced overall, and the service doesn't deliver a high-end experience.

Doing the Day Spa on a regular basis together with my wife. Since we live like a 30min drive away it’s always worth the ride. At the same time that’s why I can’t rate the hotel itself. Spa is splendid though!
