Wellnesshotel Ebner's Waldhof am See (Hof bei Salzburg, Salzburg) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Ebner’s Waldhof am See sits on the pristine eastern shore of Lake Fuschl in Austria, augmenting its picturesque lakeside setting with an idyllic resort complex, spa, and golf course. The third generation of Ebners now run the show in the same landscape made famous by The Sound of Music. Rooms are bright and open, recently redecorated in bold patterns and clean pastels — with, of course, invigorating views overlooking the lake." - Tablet Hotels

Glorious setting overlooking Lake Fuschl, waking up every morning to the view.|Room was large, comfortable and clean ( missed a coffee machine though).|The resort is quite large and takes a while to find your way around. Despite the size staff were always friendly and helpful. Spa area is excellent as are the pools. Lots of places to sit scattered around the grounds. Small beach area is nice (and seeing how busy the lake gets at weekends with good weather nice to have this private area), also good having the SUPs, canoes and rowing boats. The lake is clean and good for swimming.|Enjoyed the food. Plentiful breakfast and then the lunch/tea selection. Dinner is 5 courses (6 if you have cheese). On the whole good, but somewhat erratic in quality and combination of ingredients. Soups were particularly weak. Felt as if chef was still experimenting. Hopefully the kitchen will find its way and elevate the food to the level the hotel deserves. Nice to be able to eat on the terrace, though the individual dining rooms were cosy.|Nice walk (11km) round the lake. Really easy to take the bus into Salzburg, 40 mins into the centre. And with the travel card, free!|Relaxing stay, fantastic location. Would return.

This hotel markets itself as a 4-star property, but guests should lower their expectations. The facilities are dated—not in a charming, historic way, but simply old and tired.||The dining experience was poor. Breakfast was uninspired, and lunch was a one-time attempt—we couldn’t get past the limited selection or the fact that food was sitting out under a lot of flies. We avoided all other meals on-site after that.||Service is minimal. There’s no bell desk to aid with luggage, and the front desk isn’t staffed 24/7. Once housekeeping leaves for the day you’re essentially on your own—any requests after that point are unlikely to be fulfilled. ||We attempted to check out after the first night of a four-night stay due to our disappointment. When we called (we were not on property at the moment) and asked for a manager to call us back, we were told we’d need to come down in person because “calling an American number is expensive”—another example of the hotel’s nickel-and-dime approach. ||When we finally did shared our feedback, we were met not with understanding or concern, but with defensiveness and confrontation.||Staffing is sparse. Don’t expect towels at the pool or lake—you’ll need to bring your own from the room.||This might be a “generational” hotel that once had its time, but if you’re used to American 4-star standards, this is more of a 3-star property at best. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

As cynical British people we were initially nervous that the website of the Waldhof Fuschlsee Resort might be too good to be true; but we were so happy to be pleasantly surprised and have our cynicism quashed.||We stayed for one week at the Waldhof Fuschlsee Resort, and can confidently say we’ll absolutely be returning. The location truly is stunningly beautiful.||The helpfulness of the staff started before we even arrived, arranging transfers for us to and from the airport. We arrived at the hotel around midday and were pleasantly surprised that our room was already ready and available for us to check in. We had a little quibble with the set up of the beds for our children but this was resolved within half an hour following a call to reception.||During our stay the staff were exceptional: kind, courteous and helpful at every opportunity; with special mention to Vladimir in the restaurant, Julia who we met in the archery experience and Daurina who guided our Alpaca walk around the village.||The hotel is exceptionally clean and there is an army of people cleaning every visible corner every morning. The room was serviced twice daily with towels changed on request and beds turned down daily. The rooms are exceptionally equipt with Nespresso machines and pods as well as kettles and tea bags for other drinks. There are also beautifully fragranced toiletries in all the bathrooms.||The pool and sauna areas are incredibly, very family friendly while also being a calm sanctuary. It’s quite a feat. The water in the pools is also heated to 30+ degrees so swimming when the weather turns is still a pleasure.||We took part in several activities whilst on site including beginner’s archery, tennis, table tennis, alpaca walking, paddle boarding, canoeing and rowing, as well as making use of the children’s playground. Everything was included and fabulous.||As far as food is concerned, both the breakfast and lunch buffets are huge in variety, with something for all tastes. We are the proud owners of two relatively picky children and they both managed to find something they were happy to eat at every meal. So far as evening meals are concerned, from a cultural point of view it took a little getting used to ordering our dinner at breakfast time, but after a couple of days we were in a happy routine. There is a great variety every day of beautiful local dishes, or if you’re feeling less adventurous there are always some Austrian classics like Schnitzel available. On top of this, every day there is a children’s dinner buffet; and if your children are as picky as one of ours they are always happy to make some chicken nuggets or pasta to fill their tummies.||The only downside of our stay was an impromptu fire alarm on our first evening. And while we understand this is completely unavoidable (and was thankfully a false alarm) it did feel like there was a lack of organisation and information to let guests know that it was safe to return. But, I completely understand, this is a difficult situation to plan for unless it occurs. ||Other than that little blip, it really was a most wonderful break. We’re already checking our calendars to find a free week when we’ll be able to return. As a family, we honestly can’t recommend the Waldhof Fuschlsee Resort highly enough.||Many thanks to all the staff for such a wonderful holiday.

Great location with mixed experiences. I was so wanting to love this place. The location is captivating, but that's where the wonderful experiences end. There are no ACs in the room, so be prepared for hot nights. The service is mixed. On one night we had a haughty gentleman who had no interest in working there. Whereas the next morning we got the most amazing lady possible. The gentleman flat out refused to bring things when asked and rushed the rest of the party so much that they refused to order anything else. They do have a fly situation to watch out for. The gym has a great view but is way too hot to be practical. Given the price point, it's sad how lacking the service was.

This hotel markets itself as 4-star, but it’s dated, understaffed, and underdelivers. The property feels worn—not historic, just old. Breakfast was average, and our one attempt at lunch was enough. We didn’t eat on-site again. There’s no bell desk, and once housekeeping leaves mid-afternoon, you’re on your own. The front desk isn’t 24/7, and service is minimal. We tried to check out after night one of a four-night stay. When we asked to speak with management, we were told to come to the desk because calling our U.S. number was “too expensive.” When we voiced concerns, we were met with defensiveness, not support. Small things add up—like refusing a second candy tin for our other child at checkout. “Rooms only get one.” Really? No towels at the pool, no attendants, no hospitality. You carry your own supplies. This place may have once been great, but it’s coasting on reputation. Think 3 stars at best—if you’re used to U.S. standards, you’ll be disappointed.

We visited the Waldhof Fuschlsee Resort in April 2025. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the experience. It is an all-inclusive resort, which we didn't realize when booking it. They include breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner with your stay. We loved the spa area with the various pools and saunas. I couldn't find the steam room in the women's area and the only person I could find who worked there didn't speak English or German. (Haha!) We were traveling as a family and booked three separate rooms. We asked that we be placed near each other, but when we arrived we were on three separate floors. Although two of the rooms were booked at the same price point/level, one of them had a tiny shower and no balcony, was very small, and was very different from the other. We asked for a room change and they were able to switch the room to one that had a large shower, a balcony, and was much bigger overall. It was also on the same floor. One member of our party remained on a separate floor, which was disappointing and inconvenient. The staff were so kind and welcoming! We truly felt spoiled and as though we could ask for anything. For example, the rooms did not have luggage racks when we arrived. We asked for them and they were delivered right away. They provide laundry services, which were simple to coordinate and they came back folded in a darling basket. We felt like the team at Waldhof would accommodate anything we needed. They provide a thank-you gift at the end of your stay, which is a lovely touch. We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Austria again! The smoking room really makes the entire stairwell smell awful, and for those who are allergic to cigarette smoke, it was difficult to use that area as a transition spot to go between the villa and the main hotel.

A wonderful place by the lake, spotlessly clean, very cozy, and very well run. Lots of options for any type of vacation. We had a fantastic room with a lake view and a balcony! Small minuses: overpriced drinks (and generally high a-la cart prices), and a bit inflated expectations towards the food quality (it’s very good, but gourmet quality it is not)

We have come back from an extended weekend as a family of five with 2 rooms. Overall a very nice hotel, not particularly modern but very comfortable, spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff everywhere. Great wellness/spa/pool area. Excellent treatments according to my wife who had a few. Plenty of „leisure“ rooms with activities for young and old (playroom, billiard, table tennis, darts etc…). Fantastic location on the lake. Wi-Fi is rather weak, I suppose some more repeaters would help. I have to agree with a recent review, the only slight disappointment was dinner. It‘s just not at the level of taste we usually get in Austria. But since everything else was great, I can’t really complain :)
