Where to Travel in Germany if You Love Architecture - AFAR
"An art-deco luxury property in the Ku'damm shopping district that channels the roaring ’20s with period interiors, a distinctive shell-shaped pool, and large floor-to-ceiling windows that provide sweeping city views." - AFAR
"A luxury hotel noted for its distinctive style and convenient location near a major city park, offering high-end accommodations and a premium hospitality experience." - AFAR
"Fans of the flagship Waldorf Astoria New York will feel right at home in this Berlin outpost, set in an elegant skyscraper in City West and just around the corner from the exclusive shopping boulevard Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm). Rooms are seriously big—starting at 452 square feet—and large marble bathrooms have separate tubs and showers in every category. Reached by a separate elevator, the Tower Suites (floors 22 to 30) are worth it for the views. For a true splurge, the massive 31st-floor Presidential Suite—complete with a grand piano, open fireplace, and two balconies—boasts sweeping city views from every room." - Jennifer Ceaser, Liz Humphreys
"Although it only opened at the beginning of 2013, this 31-floor, limestone-lined skyscraper hotel has already become one of City West’s 5-star hot spots. Rising dramatically above the historic Zoologischer Garten district, it’s a statement in every sense. Designed by German architect Professor Christoph Mäckler, the hotel’s architectural boldness is matched by its art deco interiors: There are chandeliers and barrel-vaulted ceilings in the main entrance (a nod to the New York City Waldorf), and the rooms are clad in warm-hued woods, soft leather, and polished marble. Since each room has at least one glass wall, they all offer exceptional views (except, perhaps, for the few that face the inner courtyard); the higher you go, the better the experience gets. The hotel also benefits from a relaxed seasonal Mediterranean restaurant, a handsome café-bar, and a high-end spa."
Where to Stay in Berlin When You Visit (Updated 2025)
"If you want to splurge, this five-star property delivers superlative, ultra-comfortable rooms with huge beds, abundant natural light, flatscreen TVs, and plush bathrobes; the Art Deco-infused Lang Bar is elegant for cocktails, and the luxe on-site spa plus indoor pool make it ideal for treating yourself." - Matthew Kepnes
Always enjoyed Waldorf Astoria. This Berlin one didn’t disappoint me. The breakfast was nice, just the service was a little slow. Bed was so comfortable, didn’t even want to get up. Room was big. And I always enjoyed Aesop body wash. Location is very convenient, subway station right in front of the hotel. The zoo and many restaurants near by. I had a good stay here.

Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Booked with Amex so received breakfast for 3 of us which was extravagant (juices, champagne, extensive buffet, a la carte menu with eggs Benedict, breads and pastries to die for etc). Got a suite in a corner with views from two sides. Bed was heavenly and we all snored! Close to u and s bahn so commuting was a breeze. Had a drink in Lang bar on our last night and bar staff were very friendly.

We had a perfect stay. The breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and spotless and the treatment from all workers could not have been better. The location, right in front of the train/metro/bus station, was extremely convenient. The hotel is in a lively area, with many clothing stores, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. nearby.

So disappointed in this poorly managed location compared to other Waldorf Astoria locations. The staff is arrogant, rooms are okay, but not up to standard. We had multiple rooms for 3 days. At check-in we were not informed of our package nor any of restaurant/bar hours of operations. |At check-out I noticed a reference to breakfast on the receipt. I was then told that breakfast had been included in the rate each day. I was shocked. I was then asked if I at least enjoyed the SPA services. Again, I was shocked. |The staff did apologize that we were never told of all included at check-in or on our booking confirmation, but proceeded to give me a small gift bag with 2 small jam jars to make up for it. I found that insulting. No refund, no credit....just jam.

My experience at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin during early July was just marvelous. From the check-in to check-out, the level of service was nothing less than fantastic. The staff responded to our needs with true attentiveness and professionalism—a very rare experience, even for luxury hotels.||It was kept spotless with a level of cleanliness and comfort that was very high standard. The separate shower and bathtub were added benefits.||Considering I'm a Hilton Honors member, I really felt appreciated and valued. Personalized service like this is very different from what I've experienced at most of the U.S. properties-thus making my stay an unforgettable experience and worth the status.||I look forward to returning again soon. All of them were great, from the reception through to housekeeping through breakfast team -- just fantastic.

We love staying at Waldorf properties, and this one in Berlin didn’t disappoint. We were welcomed with an upgrade to a King Suite, which was such a nice surprise. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the view really blew me away—we were looking right at the Kaiser Wilhelm Remembrance Church. It made us feel instantly connected to the history of the city.||Breakfast each morning was fantastic—tons of choices, everything fresh and tasty. The pool and hot tub were beautifully designed and a perfect way to relax after a full day of exploring. I also booked a massage at the spa on our last day, and it was well worth it.||The only letdown was the rooftop terraces. Compared to others we saw around the city, they felt kind of bare and overlooked. With such a great location and views, I was hoping for a more inviting space to hang out up there.||Still, this was a great stay. We felt well cared for and really enjoyed our time here.

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is one of the fine hotels in the Hilton Portfolio. I used points to book our suite for a handful of nights.
The hotel is located very close to a train stop and across from the Zoo.
We walked to most of the city attractions...definitely got in our steps.
Breakfast was included with Hilton Gold status and was plentiful and delicious.
A fine hotel in a good location. The spa and pool helped relax our bodies after long days walking the city.

Yelp
Oct 2023- Space, comfort, location and customer service is what made this a pleasant stay. When we got out of our Uber, there was someone there ready to take our bags. The woman at the front desk (short, blond hair, I'm sorry I forgot her name) was friendly, attentive and accommodating when we requested an early check in.
The room is spacious. Bed and comforter was comfy. The drapes could use some attention. It looked dusty. The shower and tub were nice especially after being out all morning sightseeing. I highly enjoyed the toiletries which is Aesop.
Location is convenient. There's a subway station and bus stop nearby. Although the area by the grocery store was not pleasant, it was convenient to have nearby.
I had redeemed my free night from Hilton Honors. And I'm glad we stayed here on our last night in Berlin.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars in a review, I would. Check in time was three, we finally got our room at 6 PM. Booked a 90 minute massage and that experience was completely ruined by incompetent staff. Never saw the actual spa portion on the "Spa". Laundry service takes three days and they will make an excuse as to why it's not ready. All anyone could say is "I'm sorry." Yes, I agree, you are one very SORRY hotel. Do not waste your money here. Go to a Marriott chain. The Holiday Inn is looking very good at this point. Super sad and frustrating. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Yelp
Simply the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at, splurge on a room with a balcony. Best Service from all, but especially Lucas and Linda at the Front Desk!!!!!!

Yelp
This review is on visit Oct 2019:
-lovely but modern style hotel
-meals were lovely
-High Tea is highly recommended!
-minus a star due to modern style & less polished service... no discreet way to get to & from the spa

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin over Christmas for tree nights and had an excellent stay. It's located in an awesome area and directly across the street from a shopping mall and the zoo/aquarium (and an awesome Christmas market!). We are HHonors members and received a complimentary upgrade at check in as well as complimentary breakfast at their restaurant on the main level, Roca. Our room was massive with the most gorgeous bathroom and sitting area. The heated floors and TV in the bathroom were incredible! The bed was also very comfy and both TV's in the room had Apple TV.
Housekeeping was very thorough and each staff member we interacted with was very kind and helpful. There is a full service spa as well as a nice fitness center and indoor pool and spa. The bar/lounge on the second floor, Lang Bar, is a great spot for cocktails and small bites- incredible decor and service. The complimentary cookies in the lobby were also heavenly. I hope we can stay again some day!

Yelp
This is a review for the afternoon tea.
5 stars because of:
- tea master Leroy Henze was very knowledgeable and walked us through every single tea, giving us background information. Rarely do you meet someone who knows how to perfectly brew a tea and what distinguishes one from the other
- amazing view
- comfortable atmosphere, cozy
- good quality of pastries

Yelp
Love this hotel!!! It's at a great location. It's near a shopping mall, park, zoo, train station, restaurants, and historic landmarks. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good amount of space. Customer service is great and restaurants offered here at the hotel are very good. Definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
I've traveled around the world in Waldorf Astoria's, all of which I've rated higher.
To be fair this is a substantial building. Nice quiet rooms in the middle of a busy city but most anyone can deliver that. Nothing sets this hotel apart from a normal high priced hotel.

Yelp
An incredible hotel for a seven-night extravaganza in Berlin!
1) Beautiful, comfortable room overlooking the Tiergarten, zoo, and a view of everything important in the distance
2) Attentive staff
3) Excellent food
4) Incredible pool and steam room
5) Perfect location
6) Unbeatable price

Yelp
Very satisfied with my stay here. As I mentioned earlier, the service is outstanding, and the staff are exceptionally kind. The food is one of a kind, personally I suggest the eggs benedict. Rooms are simply incredible, not to mention the overall cleanliness can only be described as immaculate.

Yelp
This is my first visit to Berlin - wow, the staff is amazing. Concierge explained all the details and perks of my visit. They even brought us up to our room and showcases the amenities. The staff at the breakfast restaurant was super helpful with our questions on where to sightsee. I can't wait to return to this location for future holidays!

Yelp
Definitely a great place to stay while in Berlin. Great service, great location, walking distance to metro and train stations. Walking distance to Bikini Berlin, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and restaurants. Easy walk to get on the hop on hop off shuttles. Plus a nice little coffee place on the first floor, great for breakfast (ROCA).

Yelp
This is first time stay. Stuff just not helpful. Check in T noon and must wait until 3pm to get my room. Check in clerk just so cold. So disappointed
Miri I.
Yelp
Wonderful service and very comfortable room. Giving four stars and not five stars because this hotel has lots of hidden fees (wifi and swimming pool cost extra)
Josh B.
Yelp
Buyer beware of this hotel. You may get a good rate on the room but you will pay for it in the end. There are a ton of hidden fees and the hotel will add charges to your room even days after you check out. I have diamond Hilton status (at this hotel it means 2 worthless continental breakfast vouchers (bread, butter, coffee, and oj) and a lot of attitude from the wait staff at both of their cafes (romaniches and les solies). Also, they have a tendency to still charge you for things included on the vouchers and hotel (internet services). Do yourself a favor and book any other hotel (you will absolutely regret staying here) in the Hilton chain. Hilton normally treats its guests with dignity and respect but this hotel does not. This hotel is only in it for the "upsell".

Yelp
My friend and I were staying at the Waldorf Astoria in Berlin and were physically blocked from coming into the hotel twice. Both times other people were coming into the building with us but because we were Asian we were singled out and blocked from coming in. Thank you Hilton for racially profiling and your racist policies from allowing paying customers into the building.

Yelp
I stayed here this summer for the first time and it's just as beautiful as the pictures show! I couldn't be happier. The room is beautiful and you can't beat the hotel's location. I look forward to staying here again!

Yelp
Warning - not a family friendly hotel. After driving 5 hours from Frankfurt we were told that our son was not welcome in the hotel pool aside from very restricted pool hours which we could not make. When I demanded a refund they refused. STAY AWAY families.
