Visited this place twice and both times the food and service were excellent. The wild boar goulash, veal roast and fishes we ordered were possibly the best meals both my date and I had during our trip in Vienna. Also, the pumpkin apple pie we ordered was in my opinion the best dessert I had during our European trip.

The atmosphere and service here really stands out on its own. The kitchen serves up well made traditional Austrian dishes paired with good wine and beer. Together they will set you up for a wonderful time. Adding to my personal favorite list.

We ordered traditional wienerschnitzel, snails in butter sauce, potato soup and apricot icecream dumplings. All our food tasted very good. The service was good and prompt.

Google
Deserves its praise, the chef really understands food Breads were horrible, cold and hard Got the roasted dumpling w bacon and eggs, the dumplings had a texture like djngaoorens carrot cake, and the conception of the dish is similar too. Hearty flavours from the good caramelisation of the dumplings and bacon, and restrained use of herbs added a nice touch. Finally the clean salad w a simply vinegar dressing worked brilliantly in cutting through the otherwise slightly heavy dish Apricot dumplings were terrible, dumpling was mushy and apricot filling was unseasoned. Apricot jam was severely lacking sugar too. Prices are not cheap but portions are huge, get it to share. 2 mains 1 dessert should be good enough for 3 pax Weird that they ask for tips at the end when they're a tavern-like place, very bustling and they're all moving around very quickly

Beautiful Austrian cousin. Typical Vienna tasty meals, served on time. Weiters are always near you to fulfill your needs. Atmosphere ideal for big group of hungry people. Satisfying 10/10.

The restaurant is ok. Food came quickly and it was good. To be honest I am not a connoisseur of Austrian food, but I enjoyed the food. We ordered an Austrian wine recommended by the waiter, and it was very good as well. The server was friendly. The decor seem dated to me, but the atmosphere was cozy. In general the whole experience was good if you want to try typical Austrian food.

This is our favourite restaurant in Vienna. Excellent food, super kind staff and honest prices. Everything was tasty, well balanced and the portions were generous. Shoutout to Stefan for being one of the nicest person we have came across :) What a great local find with authentic Austrian cuisine. We highly recommend to anyone for their first time visiting the city looking for a taste of local cuisine!

Yelp
We gathered here for seasonal Gansl Essen (goose). From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. As soon as we entered the restaurant, multiple staff members acknowledged us with "good evening," "welcome," and other similar greetings. While one staff member took our orders, the entire evening was clearly a team effort. Various staff members brought out our food, our drinks were kept topped up, and there was always someone nearby to grab if we needed anything else in between... The restaurant has a very cozy feel, and while we were in Vienna proper, the dining area could have been pulled out of a restaurant in the countryside. The food was fresh, bright, and delicious. Last time I had Gansl Essen at another establishment, I remember the meat being considerably more greasy. While this meat wasn't as greasy, it was still moist and tasty. The salad was light and fresh, and the dessert is unique to this area of Austria. We greatly enjoyed spending time with one another here over the course of several hours, and Waldviertlerhof made this possible.

Yelp
We were in Vienna and this restaurant was highly recommended. Upon entering we asked if we could get a table for 2 and were asked if we had a reservation. We said no and then were very abruptly told No! That a table outside wasn't available. We then asked if we could sit inside and they were able to seat us. Not the best first impression however, they did make up for it with different servers and excellent food. My husband had the steak and I had Cordon Bleu . Both amazing. However, the salad we had was the star of the meal. I've never, ever, been excited about a salad in my life but on this very warm day, this light & flavorful salad hit on every level. The buratta cheese was the lightest and fluffiest I have ever had. The food here is outstanding.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Luckily I found it through yelp. Food is delicious here especially the beef goulash and the potatoe salad is amazing. Their service isn't the greatest since English is barely spoken in the restaurant but luckily they have some English menus. This is definitely a local spot so come try it if your around or thinking of making the trek here. Btw, the interior is very nice with a old wooden type of castle feel to it.

Yelp
Weather was nice and sitting outside and having delicious food was fantastic. I tried their daily menu together with the people working in the neighbourhood and it was wonderful .

Yelp
This restaurant has a nice simple wooden interior. The atmosphere is moderately quiet with only a few scattered conversations going on. I ordered the Suckling Lamb Pork Chops and they were absolutely delicious. It had this potato like pasta that was very good as well. I would order the dish again in a heartbeat. The flavor was rich and not oily at all. My stomach hadn't been doing so well from the food I'd eaten in Hungary but this cured me. I felt great after eating here. I would definitely come here again, and I would easily recommend this to my friends. The service was great too. The waitress was very attentive and was always ready with suggestions and to take my order. It was a nice change of pace after being in Budapest. I was the only English speaking customer while here, which I think is a testament to how good the restaurant is if it's frequented by so many locals. Do yourself a favor and stop by here while you're in Vienna.

Yelp
More of a local spot, had an English menu that I could use, but glad I came with an Austrian friend who spoke German. Restaurant is very warm, I have on a medium sweater and am sweating. Food was good, but I like very clean meat and the goulash had some fatty parts which was not something I loved. The potato salad and schnitzel were very good.

Yelp
Here at the Waldviertlerhof you are in the heart of Vienna's 5th district. Surrounded by a nice ambience in this fancy neighborhood the Waldviertlerhof restaurant is an institution for Vienna where you get authentic delicious Austrian food in a traditional environment. We had the delicious Waldviertler Gröstl with bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and green salad. What we also had was the Beuschel, to be specific the Kalbsrahmbeuschel, a creamed and chopped calf's light with bread dumplings, also a delicious traditional meal from the Austrian cuisine. The staff is friendly, the prices are in the midrange segment and you get good quality for your money in a traditional Austrian ambience. With Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

Yelp
So, folks, if you like bacon, this is your heaven! Me ... Can't even stand the smell of bacon, or fat meat, or pork... So here I am in an Austrian restaurant, looking at a menu in German and see that pretty much everything is repaired with "speck" and with my very limited German I assume it's bacon. But then I request the menu in English and it doesn't really say that bacon is used in preparation of everything, so I order my meal just to discover it's cooked with bacon:-( Good thing I had a very decent soup and salad before that. My husband felt sorry for me and offered so kindly to share his meal with me, which he loved, but guess what?... It was cooked with bacon bits as well:-) Anyway, Bon appetite to all the bacon lovers!

Yelp
We came in late, but they are a little judgy of Americans. Only gave us two options to chose from. Definitely mostly locals. Have beer and wine. The beef tartare is great. The potato soup is good. beer is good. They give you a carafe of water. It is hot in the restaurant. Glad we came but wish they were less judgy!

Yelp
The Waldvierlerhof is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants and one I often recommend to people visiting me for a taste of traditional Viennese cuisine with a few culinary specialties from the Waldviertel in Lower Austria added in. With this combination you can't go wrong. What is my favorite dish here? Well I like many but you can't go wrong with a traditional Viennese Zwiebelrostbraten or a Tafelspitz. The decor is really cool .... almost like being in a museum except it feels much warmer than most museums. And when the weather is nice, you can dine & drink out in the gemütlich Gastgarten. Yes they have great Austrian wines and beers. So if you're in Vienna and want a traditional neighborhood Beisl experience, head to the highly recommended Waldviertlerhof in my neighborhood of Margareten.

Yelp
Very good, soups with boiled beef and veggies rocked. I also had the rump roast with sliced garlic and an awesome brown sauce. Loved it... You can smoke in this place but we ate in the non smoking room. no smells from the smokers. I recommend for sure.

Yelp
Wonderful Austrian food with friendly waiter service. Don't miss the special garlic soup. The Wiener schnitzel and the beef were both excellent

Yelp
Delicious! We had a wonderful meal on our first day in Vienna. Amazing Wiener schnitzel. My husband ordered something mysterious that was like a beef stew with big dumplings. We got home and translated it and it was calf's lung and heart! Hahaha. We didn't care because it was truly delicious! And we loved the local beer. They have a lovely back garden. Highly recommend this place. We're hoping to go back before we leave.

Yelp
Sat outside in the back of the restaurant. Warm evening but pleasant on patio. Smoking a slight nusance. Great service, staff were friendly once they warmed up to us. English menu is abbreviated version of German menu due to changing daily specials. Staff explained daily dishes b based on our interests. Meal was good. Prices 8 to 17€.

Yelp
We had a lovely evening here, the ambiance was warm and inviting and the food was an excellent example of traditional cuisine. Staff was very friendly, helpful & attentive. Would highly recommend!!
