"Listening to Jazz One of Munich 's loveliest beer gardens, the Waldwirtschaft, "WaWi" for short, is located in southern Munich on the banks of the Isar River. Many people cycle or walk to it, stop for a drink, then return along the Isar. It's also famous for its jazz concerts. Check the website to see a list of events."

The parents of ny family rfrend Pater owned this beergarden for decades before selling it circa 25years ago. What a joy to find the new owners have invested and Improved this amazing space. If you are staying in Munich and want to try out the Hofbrauhaus and Englidh garden then please consider waldwirschaft. In season the setting, the beer , the food is far superior especially in season. The 15 minute railtrip on thev S7 and 20 minute walk will pay you back in spadefulls. That is a promise.

We were here with #Biggoot and #Littlefeet after studying in the morning. The parking lot now costs €2.50, which is absolutely ok. We paid €17.50 for the Steckerlfisch, a mackerel, and it tasted really delicious. Just like the half chicken and the fries. Everything was very good, perhaps a little salty, but very tasty. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed an ice cream and a stroll along the Isar. A lovely lunch or afternoon, which was really wonderful in the beer garden in the sun with live music. Thanks to the Wawi team, who even took our dishes with them. We can only recommend the Waldwirtschaft for families, also because there are trampolines, mini golf and swing boats.

This Biergarten is in such a beautiful location and the food is classic Bavarian fare. Unfortunately we weren't able to go while there was a jazz band, but the beer, food, and atmosphere was great.

It was a special day because they had spare ribs and so I went straight for that! The spare ribs were cooked very well. I wouldn't say the sauce was that great because it tasted like Currywurst sauce. Since I'm American, I've tasted a lot of awesome BBQ rib sauces in my lifetime and this one wasn't really great but the meat was still verge delicious. the roasted chicken was very succulent and tasty too but a bit too salty!

One of the best Biergarten in the near of the Isar, a perfect place for a bike riding from town. It’s usually quite full with a big playground for the children. Usually it was a Jazz band on Sunday but yesterday was a kind of party band, well, no bad though but it’s such a pity.

Nicest Biergarten in Munich with live music. The Kaiserschmarren is absolutely amazing. Best one I have ever had. Service is great.

Yelp
If you've been to Germany then Biergartens are a plenty. Great places to watch football and enjoy local beers and kaiserschmarn! This golden gem of a Biergarten is unique, as they have a live jazz band along with a "carnival like" area for kids to play. Ambience is festive and perfect for a reunion with friends. Service is delightful, which is NOT the norm in Germany where customer service is nearly non existent. Food was good as well. Same German fare but the dishes did not feel as "heavy" but it also might be presentation style. Their apfelkurcherl is divine! All around this is a good place to enjoy with friends, especially if you haven't seen each other in a while. The atmosphere invites you to stay as you will leave feeling like "wow that was a good night". Music, beer or aperol spritz, good service.... Good food!

Yelp
I have wandered past here many times during our hikes along the Isar and never been until now. It's a gorgeous Biergarten located above the Isar and surrounded by trees. There is a fairly big area with table service and of course a self serve Biergarten. We sat in the self serve area. They serve Spaten beer here and their Maibock was really good. The food choice is good and I loved the food here. The ribs were really nice as was the Obatzda and Nürnberger sausages. I also tasted the steckerlfisch and it was delicious. They have live jazz band here and that was a welcome change to the normal Biergarten music. Loved the atmosphere, the food and the service. Look forward to my next visit. A gorgeous Biergarten in the outskirts of the city.

Yelp
4 stars for the place itself, 0 for the service and attitude: average of 2 stars. I came here because this place is featured in the book "The Beer Drinker's Guide to Munich" in which there is also a coupon for either a second beer for free or just one for 50% off. I used these coupons in other beer gardens without problems. However, here the lady at the cashier didn't seem to even understand here own language (the coupon is written both in English and in German) and although I was trying to speak German she didn't show any sympathy. In fact, I was trying to use the coupon for a 0.5L beer and on the coupon it is written "1 ltr. Mass or smaller" and "bis 1 Liter gross". With my basic German I know that "bis 1 Liter" means "up to 1 liter" and I was trying to explain that it was valid also for a smaller beer (and even in the opposite case it would be at their advantage and not mine...) but she just kept arrogantly screaming "1 Liter! 1 Liter!" in front of all the other people in line. Obviously it was too difficult to read the "bis" part of the sentence. the "tip plate" with only a few coins (just cents) didn't surprise me. I just paid the entire price, drank my beer quickly and proceed my journey to the "Gutshof Menterschwaige" at a 20/30 minutes walk from here where I managed to use another coupon from the book and the man at the cashier put a lot of efforts and attention to try to read the coupon in English before I told him it was also written in German on the back. Moral of the story, avoid this place if you care about how you may be treated as a tourist/expat. If you happen in the area walk to the Gutshof Menterschwaige instead which is another nice beer garden in the wood with good beers and polite employees.

Yelp
This beer garden is close to my house, so we went here for dinner. It's smaller, but there's also a play ground for kids which was a plus. The food's overpriced for what it is, but I guess that's at every beer garden. There was a fish station where they had whole fish on sticks! The trout was really yummy. The rest were just okay. There was a band playing jazz music rather than typical Bavarian music which was nice. You come here more for the atmosphere and experience rather than the actual food.

Yelp
Beer garden side has variety of foods, Mackerel grilled fish is highly recommended. At the service area of the restaurant, the foods are great. We ordered wagyu burger, Zander fillet with asparagus risotto cream and Wiener schnitzel and they were all freshly prepared and delicious!

Yelp
This place was awesome 25 years ago, based on the pictures not much looks to have changed. If ever in the Munich area again, I will definitely revisit this historic and lovely beer garden.

Yelp
This is a seriously great beer garden. Great live jazz and an excellent assortment of food available. I had the stickelfish - basically bbq fish on a stick. Excellent! To get to Waldwiftschaft, take the S7 line and get off at Großhesselohe. It's worth the effort.

Yelp
This Beergarden is not in the City Center of Munich but is worth the trip. In my opinion the best Beergarden Chicken-Wings in Town.
