The Best Walking Tours in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"Run by long-time American expats Margaret and Amy, Walk Eat Spain leads fun, food-focused walking tours (notably around the vibrant Malasaña neighborhood) where you stop to eat, learn about each dish's history, and then walk to the next spot; they also offer family-friendly private tours for a more customized experience." - Matthew Kepnes

We celebrated our Thanksgiving Day with this tour and it far exceeded our expectations. Rocio, our guide, was dynamic, fun and catered to our mixed age group of six perfectly. Every stop was a treat and she engaged each attendee with fun, local history, epicurean tidbits and delicious bites. We would highly recommend this exact tour to others, adults and children alike. We are experienced travelers having enjoyed other food tours in Europe, but this tour, specifically included stopping, meeting the proprietors and tasting onsite made for an amazing experience. Our guide recommended shared specific recommendations in Madrid and Toledo and each was a great addition to our travels. Muchas Gracias.

We did both the morning market tour and the evening tapas tour and had a great experience on both! Our guides were amazing and the food was wonderful. One of the things that most impressed us was that the guides have unput on the tour stops so they take you to the places they go and you meet the market/restaurant owners. I can't recommend Walk and Eat Spain enough!

Our family of four did the de Mercado tour with Christina on our first full day in Madrid. It was an exceptional tour which gave us a taste of the foods and flavors of Madrid as well as some history of the city. Our tour guide is very knowledgeable but also was kind and fun. We highly recommend this to anyone who wants a great start to their adventures. Plus they helped cater to all of us (some vegetarians and some meat eaters in the group) which was great for all

This tour was the highlight of our time in Madrid — personalized food tasting for our family and lots of local color and history. Our guide Christina also gave us great restaurant tips for later in our trip. Very engaging and fun. Thank you!

Cristina, our guide, led us on an incredibly enjoyable tour. We visited some hidden gems and indulged in a delightful array of Spanish delicacies, including jamon, churros, fish, cheese, olives, and wine. The markets were very cool, and the evening/late afternoon activity was both fun and engaging. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re planning to visit Madrid. It’s a great way to get a taste of the local cuisine and receive valuable recommendations from your guide. Thanks a lot for the fantastic tour!

Amy (and her team) did a fantastic job putting together this memorable evening tour of an unexpectedly cool part of Madrid. Each stop paired a great drink, tasty food, interesting stories and memorable conversations that brought the area alive. You are not going to find these on a tour map or guide, meaning it’s something that keeps its local character. Enjoy!

During our morning food tour, we enjoyed churros with chocolate, learned to appreciate Spanish ham, tasted cheese, olive oil, and many other things that were delicious and interesting to learn about! Visiting the market was so much fun and we truly felt welcomed by the shopkeepers since our guide was known by all. Christina was such a great tour guide and we really enjoyed our time with her! We find food tours to be a great way to learn about the history and culture of a city. This was one of the best we have ever experienced!

We had such a great time on this wine and tapas tour! Our host was amazing—super friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations for the rest of our trip. The food and drinks were delicious, and the whole experience gave us a really good feel for Spanish culture and how locals eat and socialize. I’d definitely recommend doing this on your first or second day in Madrid—it’s the perfect way to kick off your trip and get a sense of the city! 🍷🍴🇪🇸
