Had such a good time at Wall Crawler. My husband took advantage of the half-price belay lesson (1 hour) for Monday nights and I took the quick refresher lesson (20 minutes). Both lessons were perfect! The staff were friendly and made the whole thing very fun and accessible. We also had a good experience with the gear, finding the harnesses to be in fantastic condition and the shoes to fit well. We were primarily there for top rope and were quite impressed at the diversity of routes Wall Crawler had for being a smaller gym. It was also cool that they had a bunch of auto-belay routes for solo climbers. We haven’t gotten to bouldering yet, but from walking through that area it seemed to be some of the more technical and creative bouldering routes I’ve seen at a gym. Very excited to take advantage of the ladies’ night discount on Wednesdays too!

I came to spend a couple hours bouldering with my partner past weekend. $18 pp for a day pass, $6 for shoes, $5 for a bag of chalk to rent (which is really steep and the employee kept giving us an empty bag/ chalk sock with no chalk inside. We had to ask for more chalk 4 times and show an empty inside to finally get a somewhat usable chalk bag). Establishment itself is a small climbing gym with a boulder cave, some auto belays and some top rope systems. It also has a small gym area for warming up with some equipments like hangboards, pull up bars, and boxes. There is also a moonboard in the corner. The vibes suggested that it might be a more suitable gym for children. There were a few kids running (fully doing laps) around, which in my mind is a hazard. I saw maybe 5-6 adults climbing in the span of 2 hours. Boulder courses were interesting. It uses a V scale but most routes don’t have a clear start/end markings or grades. There’s some “natural” elements to the wall like little crevices and jugs so that was fun to utilize. It would be nice to have more routes in v1-2 because my beginner husband didn’t have a whole lot to try.

Really cool, fun activity you can do last minute. You have to rent shoes and harness if you're not professional. Plus a day pass is about $25 a person.

Hours of fun for all ages. Great customer service too.

Google
Wall Crawler is my home gym. - Its a good place to go to get good at climbing - Its a good place to go if don't want to maintain different grading systems when climbing inside and outdoors, and if you don't mind a bit of an ego check. - Price is excellent relative to other gyms - The people who work there are members of the local community and are awesome. - The kids camps are great and staffed by lovely people. - Its a small independent business in a world of huge, corporate gym chains.

Google
What a great way to spend time! The bouldering wall is nice and simple but there are challenging sections as well! The rock walls themselves also offer many options - I’m in no way experienced climber but I could do 2 “paths” pretty easily, letting go & letting the harness catch you is the hardest part! :) A great price for a day pass and harness and shoe rental. The staff is nice and will give you great explanations but otherwise let you have the place to yourself which is nice

Google
Have been a member since January and fell in love with bouldering. I love the place and the work out I get, music is good of staff wears masks, they had a great covid policy reacting quickly. The climbs change frequently so it's a race to master a run before it is gone which I love. The wall is different every time and it's an amazing problem solving activity to bolder and figure out how to accomplish your goal. 10 out of 10 for this place!

Google
Amazing experience at wall crawler rock club! The employees were very welcoming and took their time to explain us how to climb and showed us techniques. We are definitely coming back!

Yelp
My first impression of Wall Crawler Rock Club was their bouldering section, which made me question their name because I couldn't crawl up any of the walls. And before you shout "Skill issue!", let it be known that at Stone Summit I can comfortably climb V0-V3s, but I couldn't scale one of Wall Crawler's V1-V3s. Their bouldering room was wacky in all sorts of other ways too-- half the routes weren't marked with a V-grade at all, and Wall Crawlers chose to adhere to the outdoor bouldering safety method of "Drag the mat under where you're bouldering," which is great if you're an experienced climber/faller, but pretty unnerving to amateurs who don't want to miss the 5x5 ft. mat from 12 feet in the air. Aside from the bouldering section I enjoyed Wall Crawler Rock Club though. The top-rope routes were well set and I enjoyed the ~6 routes I climbed, plus the automatic belay machines were great since I didn't have to spend an hour getting a belay certification. My friends and I also enjoyed goofing off in their in-house "gym," which has a bunch of tools that train climbing muscles like lats and forearms. Overall however, I decided to stick to rating Wall Crawler a 3/5 star because of the cost. Wall Crawler Rock Club is just $2 bucks cheaper than Stone Summit despite the latter being 10x bigger, 10x taller, and having 10x more amenities like a huge weight room, free coaching, 4 locations, a modern website, and nicer shoes. I'm totally cool with a smaller, "local," gym having less perks than the big guys, but not when I have to pay the exact same cost. In that case I'll just drive 5 minutes longer to the bigger gym.

Yelp
Hit this spot while on a road trip from the northeast. Stiffest climbing gym I've ever been to, but the staff were extremely laid back and nice to talk to. On the smaller end of gyms with so many huge commercial gyms now, but great spot with a great community. I would recommend this to anyone given the amazing price. Thank y'all for the great climbing session!

Yelp
Very fun place. I took my niece and we are beginners and had a splendid time. Minus the Girl Scouts there on that one Sunday lol.

Yelp
No safety protocols in kids summer camp. My 10 year old daughter was at Wall Crawler Rock Club for summer camp during the week of July 26, 2021. She was new to rock climbing and was climbing one of the walls using auto belay. She forgot to buckle her harness into the auto belay and just let go from 15 feet. She fell and hurt her spine. Talking to her I realize there were no safety protocols in place. The kids were not told to wait for someone to come and check them before they start climbing and they were allowed to climb alone with nobody watching them. I am not a climber myself so I assumed there are standard safety protocols that a climbing camp would follow. I feel so stupid sending my daughter to a dangerous camp without asking any questions about their safety protocols.

Yelp
Super small parking lot, super small place. Walls aren't as tall nor are they plentiful, but it's super homey and the staff is super helpful and available. Wish the routes were clearer/knew where the finish lines "should be."

Yelp
We had a great experience with a small group reservation for my daughter' s birthday on Sunday morning before the space opens. The three kids had a fantastic time, the cost was very reasonable and Nick was attentive to helping the kids with belays. Everyone was masked, we felt safe - and the kids were able to enjoy something really fun.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for kids! They have open climbing practice session times for kids in the afternoons on weekdays. Once, when my 6 year old got to the top and got too scared to move, the owner climbed up to the top to talk to him, assure him and help him come down from a panic attack. Then, another sweet instructor worked with my kiddo to restore and build his confidence.

Yelp
I've been frequenting WC since August and am still loving it. The staff is laid back and personable and the routes are definitely challenging enough to keep me interested. On Friday nights they have a student special with discounted prices and are open later than most nights. It usually isn't too crowded on Fridays, so it's a great time to get some practice in without having to wait too long to use the route you want. Disclaimer for beginners: The bouldering routes - even those marked as VEs and VBs (very easy and very basic, respectively) - can be tough for beginners, but there's a pretty good amount of skill-level variety on the top rope walls. I've heard this place referred to as a "climbers' climbing gym" - meaning that the routes are set to a difficulty level that caters to those "real" Spiderman-esque climbers who go on trips every weekend and compete and such. I'd have to agree with this assertion, but don't let it discourage you from checking out the gym for yourself. I'm certainly not a pro climber and I've always enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Hubris - a word I had to ask, "What does that mean?" when used casually in a sentence the other day. Defined: exaggerated pride or self-confidence; it seemed fitting along with a little good old cult like machismo. We Googled Wall Crawlers and it looked good, especially since it was within an easy walking distance of our MARTA restricted travel radius. We'd climbed before and this wasn't my first belay test, but we felt like outsiders that had unknowingly stepped onto unfamiliar turf. After some tepid questioning and a few raised eyebrowed answers, "Yes, we'd just want to climb, like the wall. A day pass - yes." "Hey ya, we're from out of town, we need everything." "Yes, we'd really like to rent ALL the gear." Total - $50 for two; 2 day climbing passes and all the gear sans chalk bag. More to come on that... After the back and forth and gearing up we quickly caught on that every rock gym likes different belaying techniques and requires you to belay their way or the highway. Wall Crawlers owner was apparently very adamant about using a two handed hand-grip belay technique which was a departure from my usual grip and slide but I guess, what the owner wants, the owner gets - we just played along but rolled our eyes at what we considered to be micromanaging proprietor hubris. After, the initial rocky start (pardon the pun) our handler as I'll jokingly call the him (the lone staff member) grew to like us (and vice versa) and eventually showed us some of his favorite techniques and cheered us on along the various routes. The owner wasn't at the gym when we were there but he seemed to have an almost fearful grip over his employees. I asked for chalk (no chalk barrels or blocks out) and the staff member called the owner to see if he could rent us chalk! "The owner doesn't want us to rent out chalk anymore because people have been stealing it." Seriously?! Who (that's not in the first grade) steals chalk? Whatever. Wall Crawlers had many routes of various grades and angles, some bouldering, and a good indie rock playlist, in addition to having aerial silks in the building. I'd climb here again but it'd behoove the owner to loosen his or her semi Draconian grip on the gym and staff...

Yelp
Wall Crawler is an amazing facility for the location and space. You might miss it if you're driving by too fast, but it's there. Push the old warehouse door with vigor and you're in! Killer bouldering cave and tons of toprope routes to choose from. There are even a few auto-belay devices set up for free climbing. I'm a total novice climber, but I love it. It's such an incredible workout and I think you'll find a good mix of difficulty and technique-centric routes regardless of your level. There is also some workout equipment on the floor, too. I really dig it as I'm pretty spent after about 45 minutes of climbing. Having some other equipment to finish out a workout is great. The staff is awesome, too. They work with you and make sure you have the right membership set up and give you plenty of options on pricing. Happy to be a member here. Looking forward to upping my climbing game, too!

Yelp
This is MAH GYM. I've been coming here for roughly a year. I like Wall crawler a lot. I previously went to Stone Summit for a while, and though the facilities can't really compare (largest rock gym in NORTH AMERICA??) it's a more challenging workout than Stone Summit, more laid back, and less hectic. The staff- kind of clique-ish. Apparently most of them went to an Episcopalian summer camp together, and have the tattoos to prove it. Don't tell them I said that. They're a pretty friendly bunch all around, and will help you whenever you need it. The vibe is chill. It's not as glam as Stone Summit or Atlanta Rocks, but I really like that about it. It has a hippie-van, living room feel to it. Less pressure than some place like SS where macho-rockie dudes go to wear spandex and look beefy. Most of the people there are either first timers trying it out, a college-age crowd, or really seasoned climbers just working out on their own. It is not that popular, but I like that about it. Although I loved the bouldering caves at SS, I always felt like I was on display. Trying not to f-up too bad in front of the uber cool climbers chilling out and judging everybody. Wall crawler is almost empty sometimes, but even when it's not you never have to wait on a route. The routes themselves are actually much more challenging than anything I tried at Stone Summit. At SS I would sometimes climb a 5.10 top rope route. That is ridiculous. I took a break from climbing last fall and had to really work up to a 5.8 at Wall Crawler. The only explanation I can think of for this is that many of the routes at SS are ranked easier because the routes themselves are long, but even the bouldering is harder at Wall Crawler- so I think SS is just appealing to the masses at this point. The bouldering cave is pretty legit- it's small, so you'll go through all the routes you can do pretty quickly, but you will get a good work out and a lot of PUMP. My fore arms have never been so tight! I consider this gym more bang for the buck, and that SS is just mainly there to beef up egos. Bonus in that it is a less than 5 minute drive from my house. I'll most likely renew my membership next year.

Yelp
This past weekend, I went climbing with an old climbing partner at Wall Crawlers, and we came to the unfortunate realization that we suck at rock climbing. It wasn't always this way, mind you--for a long stretch between 1999 to 2001 and then a brief period in 2005 and 2006, my friend and I would regularly visit one of the varied rock climbing gyms in town, with an occasional trip to an outdoor climbing area. We developed our own bouldering games and challenged each other to nigh-impossible puzzles. My friend would even meet his future wife climbing. So you can imagine our disappointment at ourselves when we went to Wall Crawlers, unable to complete some of the easier bouldering problems. I say this, however, in full acknowledgment that Wall Crawlers is one of the more difficult gyms around town. The bouldering wall has been built with very few positive angles, so for the vast majority of the problems, you're hanging your weight on your arm strength. Of their top-roping walls, again, the majority of the walls are either vertical or negative, so you're really working on both technique and arm strength. I offer these descriptions not as any sort of criticism, but as praise--the difficulty level really drives regular patrons to improve their performance, and when I last attended weekly climbing sessions, a hardcore group of regulars would always hang around offering support and suggestions. Coming off of a three-year climbing hiatus, however, I think my friend and I will need to work our way out of sucking and back up to regular climbing at Wall Crawlers.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here, he seemed to have done a great job. I, on the other hand needed some work lol overall it was a fun and challenging experience. We had a staff member named Maggie assist us the entire time. She has a very calm demeanor which helps if you're nervous! So thanks Maggie for your help. And I hope to see you again next time we come! Great place!

Yelp
What kind of gym doesn't have a water fountain for its patrons? Wall Crawler! If I pay 15 bucks to climb (or $45 a month) I definitely expect some gratis hydration. I was absolutely dumbfounded that the only potable water on the premises was sold for $1/bottle. OK, so there's no water. What about the gym itself, and the employees? Both were disappointing. The gym is smaller than I'm used to, with top-rope walls that are neither tall nor particularly overhung. There's also a small bouldering area, but the routes are poorly and confusingly marked. The free weight area was dilapidated, with old equipment and dumbbells only up to 60lb. And the (lone) employee, some guy in a red shirt, was as unfriendly and unhelpful as can be. When my friend (who'd never climbed before) signed in, I figured the guy would give him a brief belay lesson. He didn't, and gave no indication as to how my friend might pass their required belay test. And if you don't have a belay partner, they charge $20 to help you! My old climbing gym in San Francisco (the heavenly Planet Granite) may have spoiled me, but Wall Crawler was truly disappointing on all fronts. Won't be going back, and I'm excited about the monstrous gym opening up I-85 soon...

Yelp
I actually did not attend this gym for the rock climbing. I went for the sky gym that does classes in there. It is aerial fabrics. I had a amazing time and the teacher was great. I took the hammock fabric class. I plan to make this my Thursday nights from here on out. As for the gym itself the staff was very friendly and helpful. Wasn't a ton of paperwork to fill out which is always good. It was clean and well since I didn't climb the wall I can't really review that part. But if I were to be invited to join some friends I would totally go there to climb.

Yelp
This place is cozy. The girls behind the counter are super awesome and really nice. They're really helpful and always seem happy to be there. It's really small compared to the other places, but its proximity to me (barely half a mile) makes it my favorite spot to climb. Their walls are a bit more technical and rated lower than other ego-boosting climbing gyms like Stone Summit. So expect to be humbled until you get used to the harder cruxes here.

Yelp
I went for an intro class (first experience ever) with instructor Jessica and 3 other friends who also had no clue about climbing. All I knew was that I was a monkey in the trees as a kid and really wanted to try this rock climbing thing! Intro class was great and a lot of fun as well. The instructor was really nice and explained things very well. I learned how to tie the knots and we practiced belaying before we got started. We aced it! ;) I actually went back this last weekend because I had been jonesing (sp?) to go again. Took the same 2 peeps as before, but added in a new guy who needed an intro class. He learned quickly and I took my belay test and we were off to play! It's a smaller environment, the staff is very friendly and helpful and I'll absolutely be back. Loved it!

Yelp
Came here for a birthday party a couple of weekends ago and had a blast. Our party had very little climbing experience and despite the chaos of 11 adults, we got started very quickly and easily. The staff --Ashley, Jefferson, and Ralph--were fantastic. So helpful. They took turns belaying us and were very encouraging all the while. I don't know how old (make that young) Jefferson and Ralph are but they are some of the coolest kids I've met to date. Total pros. Cost was about $20/person for the hour. You can rent climbing shoes but most of us just wore tennis shoes which worked out fine.

Vickie C.

Yelp
A friend and I had a livingsocial coupon, $20 for belaying with an instructor. This was our first and second times and we both had a blast. Got there around 6:30-7 pm and it wasn't too crowded. Jefferson was the instructor who was helping us... what a great kid. Made us both feel like we were kicking ass even though there were children scaling the walls like spiderman all around us. :) Will definitely be coming back.

Johnnie S.

Yelp
This is the smallest gym within the 3some of WC, Stone Summit, and Atl Rox. It is a pretty nice little gym and not jam packed like SS. I haven't been there in weeks though since last time I was there the guy charged me $40 to belay me. I paid it without question, but the website says it should be $20.

Peter S.

Yelp
Wow what a great place and very kid and adult friendly. The owner and his staff are helpful and know how to make your feel comfortable if it is your first time and can challenge you if you are an expert. No pretenses just a good fun climbing atmosphere the way a neighborhood climbing gym should be. I would also recommend the Wall Crawler summer camp program which my daughter could not stop talking about for the entire year. It helped her confidence and self esteem and now wants to climb every wall she sees. I would highly recommend the Wall Crawler gym to those who are looking for a memorable day or evening of fun with family and friends.

Yelp
Stopped in here while on a business trip to blow off some steam. Great open environment and varying tracks. Great to talk shop some with the staff and search out the the, shall I say, plethora of routes. Cool bouldering area too.
google avatar

Asher L.

Yelp
Been going here for the past three years. This is a climber's gym in every sense. The routes are VERY well thought out and often leave me thinking about them when I am going to sleep at night. :).. The staff is friendly and they are open very late during the week (11pm) which is perfect since I work till 8. They also have some weights in the corner and a nice system board with published routines as well as plenty of folks that will give you beta on routes and systems boarding.
google avatar

Neha M.

Yelp
Wall crawler is a great facility, you enter the place and you know these people take rock climbing seriously! A great bouldering cave and its not too crowded even on the weekends. I have noticed that it is good for groups as well cause I have seen one each time I have gone in, children and adults. I highly recommend the place.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
I definitely recommend this gym...especially for new climbers. I've only climbed once and this was my first stab at indoor climbing. I went in by myself and didn't call ahead (rude, I know), but luckily they are super friendly here so it wasn't an issue. I came solo and really wasn't prepared, nor do I know much about climbing. The staff member there was happy to belay me and made me feel very comfortable. I really enjoyed my climbing experience and hope to continue my new hobby. The gym was a lot smaller than I imagined, but the bouldering area looks quite enticing and I like that they have outdoor climbs as well. Don't be so hesitant (like I was forever!), definitely go here for your first experience, very worth it.

Yelp
Pretty sweet. Coming from Tech's awesome bouldering wall, I didn't expect much from the hard angular structure of Wall Crawler, but the routes were a lot of fun and the underhang is quite spiffy. Yeah, the problems were quite difficult for us... but hopefully we'll stop sucking soon too. The single employee on hand was friendly, but when it was crowded it took a while to get our belay test in. Still, you can't beat the $6 Friday night student rate, and we met a new friend on the wall. There were plenty of young kids (5-10) monkeying around the walls too, which was pretty awesome to watch (their strength to weight ratio and fearlessness are fantastic!).

S M.

Yelp
Great kids programs. My twin boys (age 7) did a summer camp and loved it! They kept the kids active all day --climbed, played games, obstacle course, rope swing. Staff were well-trained and emphasized safety but were also very down to earth, encouraging and fun!!

Tiffany W.

Yelp
We've been going to Wall Crawlers for about a month and love it! The current staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, it's busy but not crowded and there are walls of varying difficult available. Katie Anne and John are both fantastic and incredibly encouraging for new climbers. In addition to climbing walls, there are also aerial silk classes available throughout the week. Amber, the instructor, is EXCELLENT and the classes are a lot of fun.

Yelp
My wife and I had a great time Monday night (late night) rock climbing walls at Wall Crawler Rock Club on Dekalb Avenue in Atlanta. It was our first experience in rock climbing but won't be the last. We used muscles we forgot about. Cry out loud (COL). We had a blast with John. He was a bit quiet at first but warmed up and was a great instructor. We are always looking for opportunities to try new things and this did not disappoint.

Tabitha P.

Yelp
Wall Crawlers is a climber's climbing gym. You won't find frills and fluff here. The staff is generally knowledgeable and friendly. They have a large bouldering area with new problems set on a regular basis. There are approximately 20 ropes with several routes on each rope. Most of the routes are leadable. The routes are pretty kick ass. Since it's a climber's climbing gym, there aren't too many easy routes. As a result I've found it difficult to bring new climbers here. If you're looking to try climbing, I'd recommend calling WC to schedule an intro class. There's also a climbing store located inside the gym, so you can purchase your gear.

Chris S.

Yelp
This is a laid-back, well-run gym with a lot of variety and challenge for different levels of climbing ability. My girlfriend and I came here after a negative experience at another gym and were really pleased with the relaxed atmosphere and quality of the routes. Check it out if you're looking to climb in atlanta!

JW W.

Yelp
Great Gym with varied difficulties and a comfortable atmosphere. Not a lot of "chest beaters" but not a lot of beginners either. Just a good mix of people. Great crew and great routes.

Madeleine B.

Yelp
A great gym for technical climbers. Lots of good strengthening equipment and friendly staff. Definitely stop by!
