I think the Wallaby Backpackers Hostel gets a raw deal in the reviews. I spent 10 nights there and felt very comfortable! It's an old but very nice place. The floor creaks and yes it doesn't have an elevator but that's part of the charm. The staff are really nice and helpful! The bathrooms are always thoroughly cleaned and the rooms checked. The mattress protector was even changed during the time I was there, something I have never experienced in any other hostel. The kitchen and dining area is unfortunately often a bit dirty or grubby, but this is unfortunately due to the other guests who somehow don't make an effort. During my stay there were a lot of French people, but also guests from other countries. I would definitely stay at this hostel again, especially because the location and the staff is great😊

Room was very smelly. Dirty sox smell. Air-conditioning actually worked , very good. Service 95% great smilling people who were very kind. As an older traveler I was unaware there was an age restrictions at this hostel. On arrival the female receptionist said no one over 55 is admitted , it's on our web page". I felt dishearted I was very tired and had booked with bookings .com. Nonrefundable. But this receptionist let me in, against her higher judgement. I found the other receptionists very different, very kind. On entering the kitchen I see two other ppl older than 55 years. Maybe she was just being cruel. I seached the web site and could not see this age restriction. She needs to get a life. A big Japanese women with lots of hair. The location is great. Kitchen is clean but not enough bench space. A realy great thing is the location.

This was by far the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The room was shockingly dirty, it looked and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned in years (in other hostels, rooms are cleaned every morning). I found old socks and belongings from previous guests next to my bed, and there was dust and dirt everywhere. I felt so uncomfortable that I only came back to sleep and avoided all common areas entirely. I didn’t even bother checking out the kitchen or lounge. The only positive thing I can say is that the toilets were relatively clean. I tried to cancel and get my money back, but that wasn’t possible. If you care even a little about hygiene or comfort, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

My god! What a shocking experience. Stayed here for three nights, some of the worst three nights of my life. Where to start? Firstly we were lied to. The website told us our room had a bunk bed. We arrived to be greeted by two mouldy, dirty mattresses on top of each other which barely fitted me and my friend. Next, the bathrooms. If I said some of the words that come to mind when I think of the bathroom I would probably get banned. It smelt like hell on earth. Showers looked like they had been puked on. Don’t think they had been cleaned in a long time. You could smell the bathrooms from the end of one corridor. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Only positive was the location was very good. Would not stay again👍

The staff was always very nice but the place is a mess, it feels very dirty for its price. In Sydney i got to a cheaper hostel that is way cleaner, has better infrastructure and it even has a swimmingpool. Never dared to take a shower. I found Cockroaches in the dinning room and the AC in my bedroom was broken, it always threw a weird smell that made my head ache every night. If I go to Perth again I will sadly try another hostel because this one left me with a bad taste

Great hostel with nice staff. Good kitchen with plenty of fridges to store your own food, rooms are clean and beds are usually quite comfy. They’ve just put AC in all the rooms. However price doesn’t vary from 4 man room to a 10 man room, it’s the same price which doesn’t make much sense. Lots of toilets as well as shower room with lockable door instead of shared bathrooms. Would recommend, especially if you are French or Italian as there’s many here.

This youth hostel is great!!The receptionist, Avy, speaks Chinese and gave us a lot of free travel advice, including information about public transportation. She was especially warm and patient.

Very dirty, no one cleans up after themselves in the kitchen, rooms are very smelly, they put one girl and 3 men in a room instead putting 2 girls together, was the case with 2 rooms even though us girls and a men checked in the same day, so they could have done that
