NOT THE GREATEST BUSINESS PRACTICE
Well, let's start at the beginning.
My brother and I had a meal / dinner at Wally's South 17, Rhinelander, Wisconsin two weeks prior to tonight's get together with other family members.
Today, we (all 4 of us) agreed to meet no later than 4:30pm at Wally's, because we heard they were usually busy, and to beat the line (lines at restaurant's are usually a good sign) my wife and I decided to be there upon opening. We arrived before opening, and decided to be the FIRST inline, and have a drink and wait a few minutes for our brother in-law and sister to arrive.
Well, here is the BEST (NOT) restaurant business practice in place for this decade and maybe longer. Once the door opened with multiple guests waiting, my wife and I walked in and the waitress (not hostess) asked how many people for dinner tonight? My wife said (and I quote) "there are four of us, and the other two will be here shortly". The waitress said to us (and I quote) "we won't give you a table if you are waiting for other people, you need to sit at the bar !" But, the part that sent me into a higher frenzy was the bartender that SPOUTED OFF, the same garbage "YOU HAVE TO SIT AT THE BAR IF THE REST OF YOUR PARTY IS NOT HERE"............... BIZZARO to say the least, .........Can you imagine the tip the bartender got?.......Got, rhymes with NOT.
Why would we NOT be seated, have a refreshment at our table, (still putting money in the owners pocket AND HAVE A GREAT GUEST EXPERIENCE?) and enjoy a beautiful fall evening at a new aspiring restaurant?
Moving on....... Brother in-law and sister showed up ten minutes later and we did get a table. We jawed about moving on to another proven Friday Fish Fry at a location just a few miles down the road, but ultimately stayed because the waitress that waited on us was EXCELLENT...I believe her name was Kathy! However; poor initial guest service / poor restaurant policy and a lackluster meal equals a definite LOSS of our future patronage.
Nice place / great location / Wish them the BEST !!
