Another amazing dinner at Wally’s South 17. Changed it up and came on Saturday evening for prime rib. Perfectly prepared and melts in your mouth. Chose the baked potato that was perfectly cooked and added 4 large shrimp for an additional side. Hard to beat the service especially when Walt himself makes it a point to come speak to every table to make sure everything is done to your liking.

Visited this place last night for Nye dinner, it was succulent as usual, I had a porterhouse hubby had a filet, he asked me how they get the meat so tender, I said good cooks! Server Lexi was great and noticed she likes to make people laugh. Every employee there actually greeted us and wished us happy new year when we left. Just sorry I was too full to try the bread pudding🙁

We will definitely be back. Our waitress was the best! The Fisherman's Platter and the Perch Dinner was very tasty. But the dish you MUST TRY...THE BREAD PUDDING!!!

Had a work christmas party with 14 people and it went great! They arranged things for us to accommodate our large group even though they don't have a ton of space. They had their full menu available to us and all the food was great! Dessert was fantastic - especially the bread pudding. Our server was excellent and the owner was great to work with - we'll be back!

Google
We love supper clubs, and this was a great addition to our supper club adventures!! We visited Lake Julia, at Rhinelander WI, for our family vacation and couldn’t have had a greater time with our family. We love a great supper club atmosphere and this fits exactly what we like. Great service, great drinks, great food and, best of all, great memories with our family.

We were so excited to try this new place tonight … and it did NOT disappoint. Our group ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees and they were all incredible. Ahi tuna, baked spinach artichoke dip, cheese curds, crab cakes … then steak, pork ribeye, jerk kebabs (on special). Amazing service, such kind people, and major props to the hard working people in the kitchen! So excited to go back!

Yelp
All I can say is, wow! My wife and I were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress, Elizabeth, was kind and attentive, and the other staff were awesome as well. We had the cheese curd appetizer which was great, and for the entrees I ordered the New York Strip and my wife the Shepherd's Pie. My steak was perfect (medium rare) and super flavorful, and my wife also loved the Shepherd's Pie. Highly recommend, and will be coming back!

Yelp
Wasn't opened on a Sunday , notice on door only. No notice when I called (did not answer, no message) or checked website or Facebook. Reputation is for excellent food.

Yelp
We ordered the crab stuffed haddock and the muscles on cappers & linguine ~ both delicious! The service was great & very busy on a Friday evening. I like the cleanliness rating. We'll be back!

Yelp
Very nice clean place with great service. Went here mid November so there was not wait. Since the food is really good, I can imagine it will fill up on the summer nights. Good size bar and you can eat at the bar. Inside has about a dozen 4 seat tables (maybe less). So you may have to wait to be seated but the good food is well worth it. I had a delicious half slab of ribs (lots of meat on those bones) and was stuffed! Since about 6 tables were occupied, the service was very quick.

Yelp
Visited on Thursday and had the special which was a bacon wrapped chicken cordon bleu served with asparagus, choice potato and choice of super salad. The cordon Bleu was excellent and the asparagus and baked potato were better than average as well. Service was excellent. Atmosphere, a large U shape bar with dining room tables surrounding the perimeter, older wood interior but cleaning and cozy.

Yelp
This was our first visit. The bartender was friendly, drinks were good, waitress was awesome, and so was the food. Only 4 stars because the owner was less than friendly. We had just paid our bill and were finishing up our drinks while waiting for one of our party using the restroom when the owner came over and said "I hate to be rude, but we need this table". This came across as very rude and tainted our experience. He would have been much better off if he had something like, "Thanks so much for coming in tonight, and we hope you had a great meal. Feel free to stay for another drink at the bar. I hope you have a great night and hope to see you again soon". He could take pointers from his bartender and waitress. Friendly customer service is not that difficult and goes a long way!!!

Yelp
NOT THE GREATEST BUSINESS PRACTICE Well, let's start at the beginning. My brother and I had a meal / dinner at Wally's South 17, Rhinelander, Wisconsin two weeks prior to tonight's get together with other family members. Today, we (all 4 of us) agreed to meet no later than 4:30pm at Wally's, because we heard they were usually busy, and to beat the line (lines at restaurant's are usually a good sign) my wife and I decided to be there upon opening. We arrived before opening, and decided to be the FIRST inline, and have a drink and wait a few minutes for our brother in-law and sister to arrive. Well, here is the BEST (NOT) restaurant business practice in place for this decade and maybe longer. Once the door opened with multiple guests waiting, my wife and I walked in and the waitress (not hostess) asked how many people for dinner tonight? My wife said (and I quote) "there are four of us, and the other two will be here shortly". The waitress said to us (and I quote) "we won't give you a table if you are waiting for other people, you need to sit at the bar !" But, the part that sent me into a higher frenzy was the bartender that SPOUTED OFF, the same garbage "YOU HAVE TO SIT AT THE BAR IF THE REST OF YOUR PARTY IS NOT HERE"............... BIZZARO to say the least, .........Can you imagine the tip the bartender got?.......Got, rhymes with NOT. Why would we NOT be seated, have a refreshment at our table, (still putting money in the owners pocket AND HAVE A GREAT GUEST EXPERIENCE?) and enjoy a beautiful fall evening at a new aspiring restaurant? Moving on....... Brother in-law and sister showed up ten minutes later and we did get a table. We jawed about moving on to another proven Friday Fish Fry at a location just a few miles down the road, but ultimately stayed because the waitress that waited on us was EXCELLENT...I believe her name was Kathy! However; poor initial guest service / poor restaurant policy and a lackluster meal equals a definite LOSS of our future patronage. Nice place / great location / Wish them the BEST !!

Yelp
We stopped here a few weeks ago for the first time since it became Wally's and were very impressed. The menu is great, enjoyed the crab cakes appetizer, and Salmon for dinner. Both were prepared perfectly and were full of flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. So glad that the new owners kept a restaurant alive at this spot, it's a tough business right now, so if you're in the neighborhood and looking to eat, be sure to stop by and support this place.

Yelp
This is a fairly new place. It was Shady Sues a couple years ago. The new owner is a very nice guy. He's out meeting folks and helping clear tables. Not much has changed with the ambiance of the restaurant and that's ok with me. I loved it back then and I love it now. One thing different is the owner doesn't have the tv on. He plays good old fashioned dinner music...Pandora-Sinatra. Nicely done. Lexi was doing a great job behind the bar. She makes a delicious old fashioned. Elizabeth was our server and she was busy but on the ball. She's a hard worker and recommended mushrooms and onions on my steak...perfect. We skipped appetizers and headed straight for the steaks. Bacon wrapped fillet for the wife and a sirloin in a peppercorn cream sauce for me. Both were cooked perfectly as ordered and the cream sauce was really good. We had baked potatoes and salads. Go for the maple balsamic dressing. Made in house and I could drink it! We got the last made in house bread pudding for dessert. My wife loved it. She said it was great because it was plain bread pudding. (It had some nuts in it.) Not the kind they load up with extra stuff like chocolate chips. It was very good. Walt seems to be settling in to the area pretty well. I hope the customers keep coming in. We will certainly be back. (Lots more to try on the menu.)

Yelp
Food and service were excellent. You wouldn't know it by driving by, but it's definitely a hidden gem!!
