My husband went to Walmart in Chelsea to purchase 30 forty pound bags of fertilizer yesterday, 9/12/2018. He asked the person in the garden area if he could get someone to help him load them. The fellow told him no, that they don't do that, and pointed toward the fertilizer, saying "it's back there". I told my husband that I would never step foot in that store again, so I called the Alabaster location. I told him what we needed and asked if they could help my husband load it. He said that everybody that could help was "getting ready to go home," but I could call the next day and see if there might be someone there who could help him. I told him Walmart had always helped me load bulk materials without my even asking. He said "well, you'll just have to check back, and maybe there will be someone here to help you tomorrow, I don't know." I then asked him the store manager's name, and he said, "he's getting ready to go home too and he's probably already left." I said well I will see. I called the store back and ask for the manager, and he was, in fact, there. I told him what his employee had told me and also what the Chelsea employee had told my husband. He was outraged and apologized profusely. He said if we would come to his store that he would be SURE that we were taken care of, He also told me that I could be sure that he would get this straightened out and it would never happen again because it was nonsense, and said that he had no idea why his employee would say such a thing. He also suggested that I contact the Chelsea store manager, saying that she needed to be aware also, because this was unacceptable treatment of their customers. I called Chelsea asking for the store manager. I explained what had happened earlier that day. Her name was Vanessa and she was more outraged than the Alabaster store manager. She was so courteous, telling me that they are there to serve their customers, and I could be sure that she would take care of all of it. It turned out that Alabaster didn't have 30 bags, so after talking to Vanessa, she said if we didn't mind coming back, she could promise us that the issue would be rectified. What a mess! I am writing this review because I have to say kudos, big kudos to Vanessa. This lady knows how to manage. She is a leader who leads her employees by example. She met my husband in the garden area, and she, yes she, Vanessa, the store manager, helped my husband load 1200 pounds of fertilizer on his truck. THAT is a real manager, dedicated to getting a task done, even if she has to do it herself. She is the type leader that I am certain will make sure that this issue never happens again. Walmart needs to take note and hang on to her, because she was one impressive lady.
