On Nov. 11, I transferred my service to AT&T at Walmart on Jefferson Hwy New Orleans, which the saleslady named Angela (from Mississippi) recommended. Their promotional material stated various plans and I selected the best, labeled at $50 a month. The saleslady told me since I was over 55, I would get a $15 a month discount totaling a bill for $35 a month. Two days ago, having had service for 8 days, I received a bill from AT&T for $80. I called AT&T and reported the problem. The salesperson entered a completely wrong address for me in California where I never lived. The $15 a month discount she gave me for being over 55 applied only in Florida! AT&T told me that the sales person who made the sale, DID NOT work for AT&T. Today, Sunday I stopped into an AT&T corporate store and was told their comparable plan cost $75 a month, plus about 10% tax, totaling around $82 a month.
I returned to Walmart looking for Angela and had an UNBELIEVABLE experience. The cell phone dept manager was having a conversation with a woman wearing a ROKU shirt, presumable another vendor. I asked where Angela was I was screamed at by the Walmart employee. Asking who does Angela work for the dept manager would not tell me saying I might be a stalker. This was so disturbing I took a photo of the Walmart employee to send to their manager, whence they started to scream at me and said they'd call security, at which I said fine, I'll erase the photo. The Walmart Employee wouldn't stop screaming, and then literally chased me down the isle, attempting to first grab my cell phone then my arm, screaming for security. I kept yelling for a manager, finally one appeared asking if I'd erase the photo which I gladly did. When I told the manager that I had told "him", the employee I would erase it, the employee screamed "I'm a woman!" whence I notice it's Walmart name tag said MARY.
People selling cell phone service at Walmart, I have learned, are NOT Walmart employees, but vendors who seemingly make up the deal so they can make a quick sale in any manner. I could never find out who Angela worked for. AT&T understanding the situation reduced my cell phone payment to $17 for the few days of service. AT&T is a reputable company.
I have Never experienced anything like the behavior by Mary, a large, Walmart employee.
Do NOT buy a cell phone at Walmart on Jefferson Hwy.
