Despite its odd positioning of both the store and the parking lot (thanks a lot, City of Gainesville), not to mention the really odd traffic patterns that the positioning has created (again, thanks a lot City of Gainesville) this is actually a decent Walmart.
It is not the busiest Walmart (head down to the one in Butler Plaza if you want insane crowds) so shopping is not so bad. The lanes are sufficient, and rarely do I find myself in gridlock caused by carts stopped in aisles. I am a "get in there, get what I need, get out" kind of shopper, typically knowing exactly what I want and where it is in the store, so clear movement lanes in the store are a key thing for me.
Just the other day I was there for a number of grocery items, and I was able to get them smoothly without any issues. You aren't going to find things on sale very often, unlike other grocery stores, but it does happen from time to time.
I have seen references to the deli being a bit poor, and frankly I have to agree. It is very often closed at hours where you would expect it to be still be open, and I have just never had a good vibe from it.
They expanded the self checkout lanes so there is almost always one ready to go when you walk up to checkout.
My only other complaint would be that their produce section is usually at some level of disarray whenever I go through it. Either the produce manager doesn't care/isn't very good, or there is an under-staffing problem with the produce section.
Good things about the store? It is kept clean, and I have not seen too many problems with under-stocking.
