If I could give this store zero stars, I would. This place is a joke. From now on, I will go to another Wal-Mart only when they have something I cannot live without -- I would much rather spend my hard earned money at Target.
Basically, what happened is this -- I went in one day around 4 or 5 and didn't bring my debit card with me that day -- all I had was cash because I didn't need much. I went to both self checkout areas only to be told that the machines weren't taking cash, only cards. So then I went to check out in the garden center as I was parked over there -- the cashier was extremely rude and said that she didn't have a drawer so I couldn't pay with cash. Went to another register in the store, and was told the same thing. At this point I was exceptionally irritated, so I left the store without the purchase. Ended up going to Target for my things, and had no problems.
The next morning, I tried to get ahold of store management by phone to let them know what happened, to no avail. No one came to the phone after being on hold for a very long time. So I ended up contacting corporate to complain. I'm sorry, but it is unacceptable that I couldn't spend my cash at this store.
The next day, after contacting corporate, I was called by a store manager. I explained what had happened. She told me that they have a new cash handling system in place and the employees are still in transition with learning how to handle the system. She said that it would be changing and getting better within a week. I also told her that the employees are extremely rude and unhelpful, and she said she knows that's a problem, and they have a lot of employees who are only there for a paycheck. I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. Most of the employees aren't actually working from what I've seen anyway, so if they're only there for a paycheck, why are they keeping them around at all???
This all happened about 2 months ago, and I hadn't been back to this store until yesterday. Surprise , surprise -- the self check out lanes still weren't accepting cash and the employees were still rude. What's amazing to me is that I've been to the Red Oak and Waxahachie Wal-Mart locations, and neither of them ever have problems with accepting cash, and the employees are actually really nice.
In my opinion, this store needs to be shut down for a while, hire and actually train some employees who are actually worthwhile, and then re-open.
