5 Things to Eat, Drink, and See Right Now

"A pandemic-born baking project recreates a once-baked, softer take on traditional mandelbrot (Jewish biscotti) based on the founder’s suburban-Chicago family recipe: dense with chocolate chips to give a blondie-like sweetness, the cookies are dusted with cinnamon sugar in the OG flavor, are gentler than twice-baked biscotti yet still sturdy enough to dunk in coffee or tea." - Grub Street

I got into an accident in December 2024. Walner Law cold-called me, along with several other firms. They seemed friendly and had decent reviews, so I went with them. At first, everything seemed fine. While I was in treatment, they were very communicative, like almost to the point of being annoying with how often they reached out. But once my treatment ended, the communication stopped almost entirely. My case was handed off to multiple paralegals, and I never once spoke to an attorney. After treatment ended, I had to start chasing them just to get basic updates. At one point, I didn’t even know who was handling my case. By June, I had not heard from anyone in a while. I called the office and asked for a callback. No one followed up. The website said my case was in the “collecting medical bills” phase. I even offered to help with that part when I called. The receptionist said she would note it, but again, no one contacted me. A few weeks later, I emailed the only person I had an address for. They told me who my current paralegal was, so I called her. She answered and said my lawyer, someone I don’t think I have ever spoken or even been introduced to, was working on the settlement and that I would hear something soon. That was in early August. It is now almost October, and I have only heard from her one more time, and that was because I called again. When I got her on the phone, she sounded dismissive and said something like, "Yeah, he’s still working on it." I had to push her to get any sort of commitment to follow up. She said she would check in again in a few weeks, but I never heard back. To make things worse, my own car insurance company had to hire a lawyer to go after the other driver’s insurance, since they would not reimburse them for the damages. That legal process started at least three months after my case with Walner and was completely resolved by July. I even got my deductible back already. Meanwhile, I am still sitting here waiting for anything to happen with my case. It is obvious this firm is focused on volume. They move at their own pace and will ignore you and hope you do not make too much noise. There is no consistent communication, no accountability, and no sign that anyone really cares what you are going through. I missed work, went through a painful recovery, and relied on this firm to help make things right. Instead, I was treated like my case did not matter. Please do your research before choosing this firm. There are other lawyers out there who will actually treat you like a person.

Walner law went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of after an unfortunate accident. They maintained contact with me every step of the way and handled everything that needed to be handled with minimal involvement on my part...other than me making sure I received the treatment needed to make sure I was ok. Thank you Walner Law!

Unprofessional, had my case passed around to multiple people . They do not call you for updates you have to call yourself. It has been almost a year since my accident and I still do not have a settlement offer. I am stuck in debt and whatever I do recover from this case ( if I do ) will not be anything compared to what I have lost in the span of all of this. If you are thinking about them taking your case please do not. I was recommended this law firm by a friend and I have no clue why. They will completely ghost you.

It was very difficult for us to win our case because our opponent neither had insurance nor was he the original owner of the car with which he damaged us. Our car was damaged and irreparable, but we received a lot of help from this company ( Walner Law ) and we were able to get back on our feet in just a few months. And we were also given a good amount of money by this company.Even though we didn't know how to look at these matters here, these people helped us a lot and provided us with a good amount of money. Thanks again 🫡

I regret hiring Walner Law. My experience with this firm has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional from the very beginning. After my accident, I retained Walner Law and signed all required documents electronically on December 5, 2024. Since then, I have received little to no communication about the status of my case. I’ve made multiple attempts to reach out for updates, but my inquiries have been ignored. I was never introduced to a case manager or attorney handling my file. To this day, I have no idea what progress, if any, has been made on my claim. In one of the most difficult seasons of my life—physically, emotionally, and financially—this firm added to my stress instead of helping relieve it. Clients deserve basic respect, consistent updates, and transparency, especially during a legal matter involving injury. What I received was silence, lack of accountability, and a complete absence of professionalism. I am now pursuing formal complaints through the Illinois State Bar Association and Better Business Bureau because no client should be treated like this. If you’re looking for a firm that will advocate for you and communicate openly, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. Torrie “Tre” W.

I had a minor traffic accident. It took almost two years for them to finally settle the case. However I wasn't told until after a year later that my the injury to my car wasn't included in the claim. I was told that I had to go after the guys insurance myself. I went to the hospital to get the medical records because they were too lazy to call. They misplaced my paperwork and I had to go back to the hospital again to pick up the paperwork. Then once I received my final paperwork there was a $300 dollar dedication for office work. When I asked what the deduction covered I was told "we had to call the hospital for the paperwork". I'm confused they're the attorney shouldn't they make calls on the case? After I went to the hospital twice for the paperwork and they claimed that they called for the paperwork they never included the hospital charges in the claim. I received a almost $1800 hospital bill on April 1, 2025. I've been calling to talk to the attorney who handled my case (which the office has such a large turnover of attorney's that I had 3 on my one case because attorney's kept leaving the law office). I have left repeated messages and as of now I still haven't received a call back. I would suggest anyone use this company. If you don't have a million dollar case you're not important to them at all. Good luck to those with minor accidents you're in for a wild ŕide. I was told to call to discuss the issues. I have been calling and leaving messages since April 1, 2025. They keep saying the attorney will get back to me. It's been over a week and I haven't heard from them ad of yet. I finally spoke to Mr Walner the owner of the firm. He was VERY RUDE. He over talked me. He repeatedly sighed. He told me that I was lying about my husband going to the hospital to get the bill twice. I would never recommend this firm to anyone. My husband spoke to Mr Walner himself also ( because I refuse to talk to an adult age person who acts like a three year old when conducting business over the phone) They told him that they are willing to refund the additional money taken from the settlement that they should have never taken from the settlement. My husband went to the hospital to get the paperwork twice, and they misplaced it twice. They charged almost $400 to make a call to request the lost paperwork. He's paying them 1/3 of his settlement why are they charging to make calls pertaining to the case? They so my husband they will cut a check mail it out over a week ago and of course he hasn't heard anything from them. Please be advised this ISN'T THE COMPANY to deal with in crucial times. I hope this post saves others from making the same mistake my husband did by hiring this law firm. It has been 2 months since all of this took place. The date today is May 3rd 2025 and they haven't refunded the money as they told me they would. They also haven't sent me copies of all of the paperwork involved. Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with this company After many months they did give a bulk of the money that was taken from the check for works that was done. They also cleared up medical bills. They definitely tried helping and I really appreciate that.

Yelp
Walner Law whatever you do please don't use this law office. The owner of the company call me about a case we had going with them. Mr Walner was very unprofessional. He tried over talking me and he was repeatedly sighing as if he didn't want to be bothered. I have never had a owner of a company call me and act like a three year old. They misplaced the medical records twice and then charged almost $300 office fees. We were told because they had to call for the medical records. If they're being paid one third of the settlement why are we being charged almost $300 for medical records that they replaced? The law off has such a huge turn over. The case was seen by 3 different attorney's because they kept leaving the firm. It literally took over a year and a half for a minor traffic accident because they can't keep attorney's. They didn't even pay the hospital bill that we went to get twice and they charged us almost $300 to get a third copy. On top of it all Mr Walner said I should have called him before leaving a one star Google review. I have been calling them since April 1, 2025 when we received a $1722 hospital bill, that should have been paid from the settlement. Mr Walner I have nothing but time. I promise you I will post this daily on every platform until you learn how to conduct yourself and your business professionally. I will make sure to tag you every time I post.

Yelp
Terrible customer service, very professional and a waste of your valuable time. I don't believe these people get business as rude as they are when you call.

Yelp
Biggest mistake was going with this law firm. They are very slow and unorganized. They had been waiting for 1 xray for 8 months that they never still got. I was in a car accident and received an concussion. They could only offer me less than $1000 after their fees and medical bills. PLEASE don't waste your time. Mr. Walner offered to pay me out of his own pocket because it was a year that we had been waiting for this case. And ended up telling us... a offer that wasn't worth our time or energy. They are mean and very unprofessional. My case got passed around to so many different people. There was no consistency.

Yelp
I got this law firm by one of their so called associate's which I'll just call a ambulance chasers came to my house rt after my accident and promised all of this bullshit, and the way i found out about my case was through my doctor, I have to have surgery and they wouldn't be able to do it because my case was being settled with out my consent or knowing, the office don't return calls inform you about your case. I've been off work since July 2019 and they told me don't worry your get your pain and suffering and Lost wages the settlement they offering me I should have represented my own self.the money i spent own bills and everyday living so I get nothing, and this is Jan 2020 and still haven't got any response. the LAW FIRM is full of I will not recommend them for a DOG bite. and I still need surgery on my back have to go get another LAWYER. I suggest you search around before you get this FIRM.
