I got into an accident in December 2024. Walner Law cold-called me, along with several other firms. They seemed friendly and had decent reviews, so I went with them.
At first, everything seemed fine. While I was in treatment, they were very communicative, like almost to the point of being annoying with how often they reached out. But once my treatment ended, the communication stopped almost entirely.
My case was handed off to multiple paralegals, and I never once spoke to an attorney. After treatment ended, I had to start chasing them just to get basic updates. At one point, I didn’t even know who was handling my case.
By June, I had not heard from anyone in a while. I called the office and asked for a callback. No one followed up. The website said my case was in the “collecting medical bills” phase. I even offered to help with that part when I called. The receptionist said she would note it, but again, no one contacted me.
A few weeks later, I emailed the only person I had an address for. They told me who my current paralegal was, so I called her. She answered and said my lawyer, someone I don’t think I have ever spoken or even been introduced to, was working on the settlement and that I would hear something soon. That was in early August. It is now almost October, and I have only heard from her one more time, and that was because I called again.
When I got her on the phone, she sounded dismissive and said something like, "Yeah, he’s still working on it." I had to push her to get any sort of commitment to follow up. She said she would check in again in a few weeks, but I never heard back.
To make things worse, my own car insurance company had to hire a lawyer to go after the other driver’s insurance, since they would not reimburse them for the damages. That legal process started at least three months after my case with Walner and was completely resolved by July. I even got my deductible back already. Meanwhile, I am still sitting here waiting for anything to happen with my case.
It is obvious this firm is focused on volume. They move at their own pace and will ignore you and hope you do not make too much noise. There is no consistent communication, no accountability, and no sign that anyone really cares what you are going through.
I missed work, went through a painful recovery, and relied on this firm to help make things right. Instead, I was treated like my case did not matter.
Please do your research before choosing this firm. There are other lawyers out there who will actually treat you like a person.
