A Guide to What's Opening and What's Closing at Disney World and Disneyland This Year

"A new stage show debuting in the historic Main Street Opera House that will feature the first-ever audio-animatronic figure of Walt Disney; at the Disneyland Resort, the theater will also rotate this new show interchangeably with its predecessor 'The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln' after the debut season." - Carly Caramanna Carly Caramanna Carly Caramanna is a theme park and travel journalist who has spent her professional career in New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles. The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, located on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, is a hidden gem that offers a moving and educational experience. Tucked inside the Opera House, this attraction stands out not for thrills or fantasy, but for its emotional depth and historical significance. Before the show, guests can explore a small exhibition featuring models, artwork, and history about Disneyland’s creation — a treat for Disney fans. Then, in the main theater, a stunningly lifelike Audio-Animatronic of President Abraham Lincoln takes the stage. His speech, drawn from real historical texts, is powerful and beautifully delivered, reminding visitors of the values of freedom, unity, and perseverance. It’s a quiet, air-conditioned retreat from the bustle of the park — and a moment of reflection that leaves many feeling inspired. Perfect for families, history lovers, or anyone wanting to take in a meaningful piece of Disney’s storytelling magic.

This is a must-see! Everything in the theater and on display is a must see, but most importantly the show with his animatronic shouldn’t be missed. It’s amazing. so well done. he walks a little bit His animatronic is as amazing as his story. To build what he built based on just his dreams, imagination and the want to provide fun and fulfillment for others is it! It’s as simple as it gets. Sweet. It’s beautiful. Enjoy a few videos and the last picture is just a snapshot of his animatronic as I couldn’t turn on video in the Opera House Theater 🤩 there’s so much to see in there. I couldn’t post it all.

**A Hidden Gem in Disneyland Park: A Free Spot to Rest and Cool Down** If you’re looking for a quiet place to rest and escape the heat in Disneyland, I’ve got the perfect spot to share. As you enter the park and head towards Main Street, on the right-hand side, you’ll come across the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” attraction, which is currently under refurbishment (in June 2024). While it might seem closed, don’t be fooled—this spot is actually accessible, and it’s a hidden gem for anyone needing a break. Right in front of the mini Capitol, you’ll find a row of benches and an L-shaped area on the ground where you can sit down. The air conditioning here is on full blast, making it an ideal place to recharge during a hot summer day. It’s a cool, quiet corner of the park that not many people know about. **Bonus Tips:** This spot is just a few steps away from Town Square, where you can meet Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto. It’s also close to the starting point of the 5:30 PM parade, so you can rest up and then head out to snap photos with characters or grab a great spot for the parade.

First, how did these 5 star reviews pop up before the attraction was even finished? This attraction looks awful. It looks nothing like Walt and the entite thing seemed to be disappointing to everyone in the theater. It was lazy and rushed without care to who and what Walt was. Very saddening.

A history class with the great show and portaits and model of the House and Congress. Just a show show so definitely worth a visit. And amazing how smooth Presiden Lincoln can move in front of you.

it was amazing to see Walt live in the flesh. it is a beautiful tribute to Walt, so you should definitely go check it out during your day at his magic kingdom

15 minute show including the Gettysburg address, but that’s not all! The pavilion also houses concept artwork for rides through the park, and a pre-show film in Frederick Douglass. The show itself is a a moving part Walt’s original vision and the animatronic portion holds up all these years later. There is a midnight showing (even when the park closes at midnight!).

A very special exhibit and one of the most memorable experiences. Disney's robotics were groundbreaking. The first time I saw Mr. Lincoln, decades ago, it took my breath away. We visited Disneyland recently and were happy to see this is still available to show your kids! Great gallery too. Very inspiring!

Yelp
Really neat update and great show. Love the Walt animatronic and how smooth it is. Very magical. Before going into the theater, it's neat to see the vintage Mickey ears, the designs for the different lands, the other ride animatronics (love the It's a Small World geese and Tiki Room parrots), little statues, and so much more. Definitely worth exploring around a bit as well. There's a voiceover with Bob Iger and parts of Walt's recorded interview sound bits throughout his life. Perfect for the old heads and those who love Disney history. Not the greatest for children though, even at elementary school age. Many in front of me were getting bored and fussy. Great way to escape the heat to boot.

Yelp
Love the first Disneyland attraction featuring Walt himself as an audio animatronic. He recounts his life from early adolescence through to the building of Disneyland. The audio for the animatronic is quieter than his voiceover during the opening movie. Still, diehards will love seeing Walt come to life.

Yelp
Walt Disney: A Magical Life recently debuted at the Main Street Opera House. I went over the weekend to check it out. Originally, it required visitors to enter a virtual queue but that has changed recently. You no longer need to do the virtual queue and can just queue normally. Disneyland may reuse the virtual queue in the future depending on demand. Once inside the venue, you will see the past and contemporary photos, paintings, concept art, etc. featuring Disneyland and Walt's life. The theater is a nice spot to check out when it's hot outside. The attraction showcases a video on Walt Disney's life with the lifelike animatronic at the end. While the use of the WD animatronic has been controversial, it does bring a bit of magic to the attraction and the story will resonate with Disney fans. There were a few people in our showing that got emotional. It was a well thought out show informing visitors about Walt Disney and his idea to build his first theme park.
