A cozy neighborhood cafe-bistro in the heart of the famous Denneweg. With its charming classic vibe, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks. Their signature Eggs Benedict is a must-try, you’ll be hooked! They always packed so better book table in advance!

We tried different types of plates for a late breakfast and all are very delicious! And the garden is so pleasant. I really like the place, if you are in Den Haag and looking for a breakfast place you have to try Walter Benedict!

Walter Benedict is a lovely-looking café bistro in a fine dining area of The Hague. When I previously tried to reserve a table, it required a €15 deposit. Interestingly enough, when I booked recently for the 16:00 slot, no deposit was required. The kitchen closes at 15:30 and reopens at 17:30. While the lunch menu states that lunch service ends at 15:30, there is no such indication on the dinner menu. We were greatly disappointed when all we could order were small bites. To avoid spoiling the mood, my friend and I ordered a nice bottle of wine to accompany the pâté, cheese selection, and sourdough bread. The portion sizes were decent, and the food was tasty. The sourdough bread was super crunchy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. However, the steep cost did not match the food and overall experience. For the sake of clarity, it might be helpful to state “bar” on the reservation slot during the kitchen’s closure, as “restaurant” suggests food will be available. Additionally, adding service times to the dinner menu would be useful. Otherwise, it’s a nice venue, and I would consider revisiting when the kitchen is open.

The woman in the bar was rude. When we got there, she told us everything inside was reserved and wouldn’t be available until late, if we decided to sit outside and it rained, she couldn’t guarantee we’d be able to move inside. The point is, we decided to sit outside, and in the two hours we were there, no one ever showed up inside. The food is good, we got eggs Florentine, eggs Benedict, blueberry pancakes, croque madame, the bietwnsap and wortelsap yummy, koffie verkeerd and americano Our waiter was nice.

Location: great location. Vibes: great vibes. Food and drinks: delicious food and drinks. Personnel: friendly and helpful personnel. Recommended menu item and drink: Eggs Benedict with ham and optional avocado + freshly squeezed orange juice. Spend quality time here several times? Yes!

One of the best steak tartare I ever had. Great service too. Good Bloody Mary (spicy).

We visited the coffee shop early in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee and eat something. The food was delicious and had beautiful presentation as you can see in the photos. In the morning was quiet so we really enjoyed it.

We just wanted a bit in our stomachs to fortify us. Wonderful service with excellent wine recommendations for a couple of weary travelers. Oysters and ham starters were perfect complements.

Great food and service in Das Hague. We had the burger and it was excellent. Service was great. Sat right by the window and watched the people walk by.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere very welcoming. The portions could be a bit more generous. I recommend for breakfast.

Want eggs Benedict on Denneweg.. this is your place. The clue is in the name really but they really were excellent. The space is bigger than most of the breakfast spots along here so it's nice and comfortable without feeling like you are on top of everyone else but still retains that old school charm. The service was excellent and very friendly. We sat at the bar and had beers as well. There was plenty of choice on. Draft and bottles. Pricing was just about what you would expect anywhere else. I think two meals and two rounds of drinks was around €30. We went back twice in a 5 day stay so needless to say I would recommend it. Enjoy!

Although I always find flaws in WB's dishes, all said and done I keep coming back and I have to say I am a fan. Details follow: Eggs Benedict- 3.5-4 stars. What I love is the brioche bun, which is nice and soft and can absorb the runny egg yolks. They use good quality ham which is sliced nice and thin and provides balance to this dish. Occasionally, their sauce hollandaise is on a more sour side, which throws the dish off balance and sometimes the poached eggs are over cooked. Steak tartare sandwich - 4 stars mostly, but since they hand cut the bread, it can be too thick and it takes away from other than that a solid steak tartare. Blueberry pancakes- nice and airy. 4.5 stars. I only wish they used some North American maple syrup. Burgers - better than most places in the Hague. They actually cooked it properly and it didn't taste like a hockey puck. 3 stars. Steak - good, 3 stars. I wish i could give this dish a better rating but generally speaking, especially if you are from North America, you likely had a lot better steak. Croque Monsieur - 4 stars. Comes in two different variations since it is open faced and each bread side has different ingredients. Not bad.

Great place! The food was really good - I had Eggs Benedict yesterday and a Croque Madame this morning. The Eggs Benedict was delicious - it was on very good bread, not dry little English muffins like in the US. The Croque Madame was outstanding - I didn't think I'd be able to finish it because it's pretty big, but I finished it. They play some really good music in there too, kinda chill tunes that make for a nice ambience. I like it!

We stopped here during our vacation. Food was pretty good. Definitely a solid bakery and decent food.

3.5 stars. Forgot to review this place! We were here in March 2017 and enjoyed a nice breakfast. This place opens at 9am, which may be normal in The Hague or in Europe in general, but it's a little late by American standards where work-life balance is often a little askew in favor of meeting the demands of the customers versus letting your staff sleep in until a decent hour on the weekends :) for better or for worse. But when you're on vacation and are trying to set out early to see the sights, sometimes you want an earlier breakfast. Or if you're traveling for business, same deal.. you want an early breakfast before work. So that's my plug to try to get European restaurants to open earlier. But enough of that. I remember having a delicious juice.. apple kiwi maybe? Or ginger? Regardless, it was tasty and refreshing. Great coffee as well. See photo. The eggs Benedict were good, not the best I've had but they were good. The hollandaise, as you'll see in the photo, is a little thicker than usual, not as saucy. The avocado and bacon toast thing was great overall, though if I were ordering again I'd ask them to hold the ketchupy-tasting sriracha sauce on top and just bring me a side of Tabasco sauce instead. Portions were large. Decor and atmosphere inside was very nice. We ate there on a weekend morning right as it opened and it was very quiet - only one other table.

Came here last Saturday around noon I want to say to grab brunch. This was our first stop when my friend and I visited The Hague - glad we started off here. It was a little packed when we first arrived so we decided to just grab coffee while we waited to be seated. Ordered the coffee macchiato which was much needed but the star of the show was none other than the eggs royale. My god, if people were to ask me what I missed about my trip to the Netherlands, you can bet this dish would be around the top of my list. It was pure perfection. God I miss it.

Some updates: this place has become one of our usual, including lunch and dinner. Dishes are simple and tasty, quality has really improved over time. All is fresh and well prepared. And staff is always friendly.

Clear and cute cafe. We went at an off hour around 4pm and they didn't have the main menus out. The menu provided were like appetizers or quick bites so that's what we ordered off of. The waitress was nice and very helpful with recommendations.

It's an amazing place. We are from out of town and staff made us feel at home. The food was amazing and well priced. Sasha was an amazing host.

Been here thrice, one for lunch of salmon eggs Benedict and another for breakfast of croissant, coffee,and orange juice last weekend. Tonight I came back for a dessert of coffee and chocolate cake. I like this place a lot for its food, ambience, and tasteful decor.

Although Walter Benedict can be a bit pretentious, its ambience and variety of gin tonic offerings are reason enough for me to return regularly.

If you've spent any time doing n Brooklyn, you'll feel at home in this little spot. Everything from the ambiance, food, service and location are trendy, comfortable and high quality. I believe the Dutch word for this is GEZELLIG. Get any of the eggs Benedict dishes and wash it down with a few beers to start our your weekend. LEKKER!

Excellent restaurant, super friendly staff. Great atmosphere. I had great wine, and the halibut which was fantastic. I highly recommend this place in Den Haag.

Great breakfast in comfortable and casual atmosphere. Nice service. Had the eggs Benedict (of course). Nicely cooked egg, hollandaise, etc. Recommended for a really tasty casual bite to eat.

Food is good and the set up is nice and different. Affordable. Not too many options on the brunch menu but enough so that there is something for everyone.

Food and drinks were great. The service is excellent, even by American standards. It's very, very hot inside, which seems consistent with most of the restaurants in the Netherlands, so not a downside really.

We are in the Hague dropping our son off at college and staying in an Airbnb right around the corner from Walter Benedict. Too tired to venture far, we stopped in our first night for dinner. YUM! I had spectacular onion soup and the boys had steak frites. This is a relaxed, wonderful restaurant. In fact, if my husband wakes up any time soon we will stop in for brunch today. I saw the menu and it looks GOOD.
