This is a well kept museum with lots of history of Guyana that I didn’t know and walked away with much more love for Guyana than I entered with. The staff were very professional and knowledgeable. I’ll definitely recommend it to my family and friends who are visiting.

Hidden gem for those interested in museums and culture. Located on Main Street between Middle Street & New Market Street. Next door to State House (official residence of the President of Guyana). Great anthropological history and well preserved artifacts on display. “NO PHOTOGRAPHING OF ARTIFACTS, ONLY SELFIES ALLOWED!”

An amazing insight in native lifestyle. You aren’t really allowed to take pics but I snuck a few in. Some necklaces are also on sale and I bought one

A few interesting exhibitions across two floors. Mainly centering around the indigenous amerindians showing quite a few artifacts from their history and culture.

It was sad visiting the buildings inc this one which present the history of the country because they seem unloved. Still the displays were interesting but tired. Staff seemed disinterested. It was sad.

I had the opportunity to visit the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology in Guyana and it was an incredible experience.
The museum is well-organized and the exhibits are well-curated, providing a wealth of information about the indigenous people of Guyana.
