Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages

We loved our stay here. The rooms and beds are lovely, and it was so nice to soak in the hot tub after a day’s hiking or biking. Also-Free Laundry! Location is right next to a lovely waterfront park with fabulous Mountain View’s (weather permitting) and the famous Wanaka tree about a five minute stroll. There is no kitchen, so shop for your breakfast in town- there is coffee, tea, hot cocoa and milk for all to use. I also liked that the living room was there for me in the morning, as I get up earlier than my partner. So I could put on my robe and go to the community room, while he slept in.

Outstanding Stay - 10/10 Our experience at Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages was exceptional from start to finish. Alan, our host, was extremely welcoming and hilarious - his warmth and humor made our stay truly memorable. He went above and beyond to look after us and provided excellent local recommendations. The room itself was wonderful - immaculately clean and thoughtfully designed with every detail considered. You can tell real care has gone into creating a comfortable, high-quality space for guests. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Wanaka. Highly recommended!

We had such a great experience at Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages that we chose to stay again on our return trip north a few days later. Allan is a wonderful and friendly host, offering excellent recommendations for local activities and restaurants — including a delicious meal at The Muttonbird and a rewarding hike up Mt Iron. The rooms are fresh, clean, and modern. The location is beautiful — peaceful and just a short walk to Lake Wanaka. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. The free laundry facilities were much needed as we had been traveling for awhile. The shared common area, complete with a cozy fireplace, was perfect for unwinding or enjoying a meal. Complimentary coffee, tea, chocolate were also provided. An exceptional place to stay — comfortable, well-located, and hosted with genuine warmth. Highly recommended!

This is such a beautiful spot! Thank you Katie for hosting us and helping us get settled with a dinner reservation as soon as we arrived. We loved the hot tub and being able to use the BBQ - as well as the washing facilities. Location was perfect - can walk into town but also nice and quiet. Would throughly recommend.

Really enjoyed our brief stay at Wanaka Homestead. Loved the ambience and facilities were very good; extremely comfortable and quiet room, cosy lounge with fire and communal tea and coffee facilities. There’s a hot tub, washing machine and dryer. Alan is a very friendly host. We were very tempted to stay longer but decided to chase the sun to Mt Cook whilst we could. Will definitely stay here again when in Wanaka.

The homestead lodge was amazing, 100% recommend. Great location, easy to walk to lake trail and town. The rooms and services are great, from the bikes to ride around, laundry, games, fire place, has everything you need, rooms comfy. But the best thing was the host Allan was amazingly friendly and gave the best local recommendations, he will tailor his recs to what you want to do, he definitely made our trip to Wānaka. He also helped us change plans the day we left when the weather turned and based on his advice we had an amazing adventure we wouldn’t have otherwise. This place was wonderful.

What a wonderful place to stay! The owner Allan was so nice and gave lots of great recommendations for both wanaka and oncoming travels. The room was cozy, but the star of the show really was the communal spaces. 10/10, would recommend!

Nothing but great things to say! The lodge is beautiful, in an absolutely perfect location close to the lake and walkable to restaurants. The hot tub and guest laundry, *real* coffee, and lounging areas were wonderful. More than the amenities though, our experience is thanks to the host, Allan, who gave us excellent recommendations for places to eat and hike, lent us bikes to ride around the lake (saved a lot of money and hassle not having to rent them), and helped rescue our travel plans when we found out the highway to Milford was going to be closed. Absolutely recommend Wanaka Homestead!
