We stayed as a family (2 adults, 2 kids) in the 3-bedroom chalet — ideal for a group of six. The layout was roomy enough for the four of us and likely perfect for accommodating six comfortably. The full kitchen was a huge bonus: we could prepare meals ourselves which made things far easier and more relaxed than relying on restaurants for every meal. For a family with kids, having that kitchen made everything so much more convenient. The location is absolutely amazing. The chalet has lovely lake and mountain views and is only a short walk from the lakefront, town centre shops, cafes and restaurants. We walked almost everywhere during our stay — and that easy access made for a very relaxed holiday rhythm. One highlight: on a family-bike day around the lake we appreciated how easy it was to return to the motel for quick breaks or “nature-call” stops, thanks to the proximity and convenience. Having a central base like this really made it easier to enjoy the lake and surrounding scenery without having to plan around a car. Overall — great for a family getaway: roomy chalet, useful kitchen, unbeatable location and lovely views. If you want to be close to the lake/town and enjoy self-catering and flexibility, this place works wonderfully.

Wanaka View Motel was a great place to stay. The unit was exceptionally clean - probably one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed, which makes such a difference. Everything felt well maintained and thoughtfully set up, which made for a comfortable stay. The location is ideal, just a short walk to town and the lake, but still nice and quiet. It’s obvious the place is well looked after and run with care. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone heading to Wanaka.

Love staying here for all my work trips. So cozy and such a great location. Walking distance to the lake and all the eateries.

Staff were fantastic and had great local recommendations! Great location - easy walk to shops and restaurants and beach front but far enough away that we had a peaceful sleep.

This is a nice, updated space. Close to the CBD. We had the 1 BR lake view room. But potential customers should know that the “view” will likely be marred by cars parked alongside the lake facing window. In our case it was someone’s boat and they were constantly doing things to the boat as it sat on its trailer. The lake is a good ways away although there are no houses between you and the lake-just a few parked cars, a large park and a few trees. The view of the mountains was quite nice although you have to close the blinds to block afternoon sun or if you want privacy. The other thing I’ll mention is, while the credit card surcharge is quite common in New Zealand, the 3% we were charged at Wanaka View is the highest I encountered during our month of travel.

Exceptional service! We originally booked a studio, which didn’t have a view as expected, but the lovely owner upgraded us to a larger room with stunning views. We could look out across the park to the beautiful Lake Wanaka. The motel’s location is perfect—just a short walk to the town center. Pip, the owner, gave us fantastic local tips on places to explore, including a drive to the Blue Pools and a hike up Mt. Iron, both of which were incredible. She also recommended dining at Hook, which we absolutely loved! Thanks so much, Pip! We can’t wait to come back next year.

This motel has to be one of the best locations in Wānaka, an easy walk to restaurants shops and supermarket.|The motel is located across the road from a large park, looking out to the lake, the units are extremely warm and well appointed.|The owner is on site and readily available for anything you might need or any local information. This is our second stay at this motel and will definitely be back!

We loved our stay at the Wanaka View Motel. The rooms were very clean and updated, filled with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great view of the lake and were close enough to walk to everything we needed! There is a washer/dryer onsite, we were able to use the washer and then hang dry our clothes outside to dry, it was perfect. The owner was beyond kind, she helped us navigate the town and work out how to get to places since we didn't have a car. We definitely want to stay here again if we make it back to New Zealand!

Yelp
Great place to stay in Wanaka. We stayed in the basement studio which was great as it shielded us from the hot summer sun! Not sure how they other rooms are but the walls were a bit thin as we could hear guests in adjoining rooms moving around. The other rooms appear to have a kitchen as we noticed many guests cooking their own meals. Wifi is free and fast and there is free laundry except coins are required for the dryer.
