11 Best Street Food Spots in Bangkok

"Wang Lang may seem like an totally bananas flea market at first, but weave your way past the counterfeit sneakers and pots and pans, and you'll encounter a plethora of wonderful street food. As with any food market, deciding what to eat here is tough. The best course of action is to wander around and graze; try the teriyaki pork, som tam, papaya salad, grilled sausage, skewered meats, pandan kuehs, coconut milk jelly desserts, and sweet pancakes until you can't stuff anything else in." - Katie Lockhart

What to Do in Bangkok: The Black Book

"It’s an impressive example of Thai architecture, but you’ll spend at least half your time here waiting on line behind swells of Chinese tourists. We say skip it and grab lunch at Wang Lang Market, which you can reach from the ferry terminal near the Grand Palace."

A very interesting market for a foreign tourist. Narrow, crowded streets. Lots of stalls selling all kinds of food, each more appetizing, more interesting. Tailors doing their job on the street. Stalls with clothes, household items, tiny cafes, street vendors. A small altar, with freshly left offerings. A different, spectacular world.

A local known market mainly known by the Thai folks by the riverside. From here you can easily take a ferry to the famous Grand Palace, Wat Arun or Icon Siam as well. Only open in the morning till early afternoon with a wide variety of clothes trinkets knickers knacks etc. Worth a visit if you are looking for authentic Thai food and stuff are not expensive either.

A very nice market. Many locals with a few tourists visible. Been here twice ie at 9am on Saturday and again, at 1pm on Monday. Can't seem to get enough of wandering around the alleys. Items sold here are normal vegetables, fruits, snack, clothings, bedsheets, toys, shoes, shirts, handbags etc. There are many shops selling noodles and economy rice. Vendors here speak mainly Thai. Be prepared to use translation. It is almost similar to Chatuchak but a smaller scale ie 10% the size. Souvenirs? Hardly find any as it is mainly for the locals. Best part, one will not get lost here. Accessibility? Better use taxi, grab ride as there is no BTS or MRT. If alone, can try out motorcycle taxi or Grab motorcycle. If one is fortunate, and able to get assistance from a local market goer who speaks English or whatever second language, then it is easier.

Wang Lang Market is very convenient and lively, located just next to the hospital, making it easy to reach. The products here are very affordable and the variety is impressive. You can find almost everything, from clothes and accessories to street food and daily necessities. It’s a great place for both shopping and trying local flavors.

A lovely small local market with many street foods and clothes in some narrow alley. A worthy trying experience. You can go to Wang lang by boat, that a fun experience too.

A bit crowded on Friday morning. Cheaper way to go is to use public service boat. Lots of food and beverages. Nice and clean.

Wang Lang Market in Bangkok is a true haven for food lovers and shoppers alike! This bustling market offers an authentic slice of local Thai life, packed with vibrant energy, mouthwatering food, and endless treasures waiting to be discovered. It’s a paradise for those looking to immerse themselves in the rich culture and flavors of Thailand. The food scene here is absolutely incredible. From freshly grilled skewers to aromatic curries, and sweet desserts like mango sticky rice and coconut pancakes, every stall is a feast for the senses. The quality and variety of the food are unbeatable, and the prices are budget-friendly, making it a must-visit for both locals and travelers. The crispy pork belly and pad Thai I tried were nothing short of perfection. Beyond the food, Wang Lang Market offers a unique shopping experience. You’ll find everything from trendy clothing and accessories to quirky souvenirs and handmade crafts. It’s the perfect place to pick up unique gifts or simply enjoy browsing through the colorful stalls. What I love most about Wang Lang Market is the lively and authentic atmosphere. The friendly vendors, the tantalizing aromas, and the cheerful buzz of locals and visitors create a truly unforgettable experience. If you’re in Bangkok and looking to explore beyond the typical tourist spots, Wang Lang Market is an absolute must. You’ll leave with a full stomach, great finds, and memories to cherish!
