I am making this review for my Kohkum/Grandma on her behalf, and I asked for permission.
She visited Wanuskewin Heritage Park about a month ago and I can’t remember why, but it was something for our reserve (Mosquito First Nation)
Anyway, she said she had a good time in the restaurant, the food was delicious, and a nice young man with a bandana helped my kohkum to her needs and when she couldn’t say properly anything in English, she said it in Cree and he understood it. She said “there’s this handsome young man that spoke and understood Cree, not many kids nowadays speak or understand” she was happy, she said she went in the next day and he was there and helped her again. My uncle was there too, and she was raving to him about how the young man spoke/understood Cree.
She had the duck soup, said it was tasted good, she liked the bannock too.
She said if she didn’t live so far she’d go there all the time.
It’s very rare you see someone who speaks our language at a restaurant and can accommodate us when in need.
Thank you Wanuskewin Heritage Park, and thank you to the young man
