War Memorial Park

A nice park where lots of people are having picnics or people who visit the site to see the tragedies that happened in World War 2. The main attraction is the memorial. The memorial is to commemorate those who were killed in the brutal Japanese Occupation and those who died in the Sook Ching. The 4 pillars standing, represents the 4 races uniting during the hardships of the occupation. A very nice and tranquil place. Can see the whole of the Downtown when weather is good. It is very calming to say the least. Fun Fact: below this lies 606 urns of ashes of the victims of the Sook Ching Would recommend if you want a place to chill after shopping or to learn about Singapore’s history.

🟦 This is a solemn and sacred space of remembrance. 🟩 Located right in front of Raffles City Shopping Centre, the Civilian War Memorial Park stands as a powerful tribute to the countless civilians who lost their lives during the Second World War aka WW2. ⚫️ The four white memorial pillars, also known as "The Chopsticks," represent the shared suffering of Singapore's main ethnic groups — Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian — and serves as a symbol of unity in grief & resilience. 🟩 I have visited this Civilian Memorial park from time to time over several years. ➡️ Each visit reminds me of the deep sacrifices made by those who perished during the Japanese Occupation. 🟨 It is a peaceful & verdant green space amidst the bustling city, where one can pause, reflect, contemplate, and pay respects to those who died so that we could live in peace today. ❇️ May all who perished during WW2 rest in eternal peace. We will never forget. 🟦 May my paternal grandparents rest in peace too. They lost their lives in Feb 1942.

Lest we forget A grand War memorial dedicated to all Singaporean civilians killed by the Japanese occupying force between 1942-45. It has a beautiful tribute. It is accessible by public transport and MRT.

Nicknamed "The four chopsticks" because of its four tall, narrow pillars which stand 67m high. The four pillars represent the four main groups of Singaporeans; Chinese, Malays, Indians & Eurasians who died during this time.

here there is a park which is suitable for camping with friends, there are trees that shade this place, the green grass is very pleasing to the eye, there are also lots of places for photos which are very natural and blend with nature, if you want to come here you can take the MRT and get off at the city hall on the red line
