This place rocks. It's become a staple for me on my way back from MRG. My only complaint is that I wish they would keep the espresso machine open during their full business hours. Check out the amazing little gift shop upstairs for apparel, candles, jewelry, and cards!

Stopped by after going to the Post Office right nearby the store and I was truly happy I did! I had been craving some baked goods and I was lucky enough to grab this cheesecake and cupcake that were truly delicious and the perfect treat for what I was looking for. I surely recommend if you have some time. I returned for breakfast another day and grabbed a cheese and ham croissant and it reminded me of some of the ones I had in Paris, LOVED IT!

We stopped by on our way to woodstock? Its very close to vermont route 100 which is beautiful in fall. Clean restrooms. Lot of souvenirs options and other merchandise to purchase. Adorable shop with delicious food and drink options! We got grilled cheese and fries ( fries were so so so good) Grabbed our food and head outside , there is beautiful small creek right next to store and it was a sunny day , we had the best time.

We stopped here during our roadtrip and the sandwiches were delicious! Also, free WiFi, which is a huge plus especially for tourists and where cell service is sketchy. Lots of nice products inside. Oh, and they have clean washrooms. Recommended! 👍

This place has one of the best pastries I ever had. It definitely is up there with top French patisseries. I tried the lemon meringue tarte, and the chocolate earl grey mousse cake. It was to die for. Chocolatecroissantst were really good too.

A gem, great food, desserts (eclairs are my favorite) great people. I have been a regular for a couple of years and my favorite face I look for is Sergio. Sergio is a wizard at expresso! Best is his genuine smile and great service he offers everyone.

Straight out of Norman, Rockwell, painting, quaint little café, and store in a quaint little town. Beautifully set in the foothills of the Vermont mountain range.Nice people who provided quick service. Eggless items were plentiful to accommodate our diet

Staying at bnb in the area, and wanted quick bite and a coffee before hiking Mt Abraham nearby. "The Vermonter" is a delicious sandwich that was very memorable. Grilled cheese on white bread with chedder, caramelized onions, fresh apple slices, and maple syrup. Was a little pricey in my opinion for a relatively small sandwich, but was so delicious that I can't give any less than five stars, even though the coffee wasn't very good. Service was excellent, very friendly staff.

Yelp
Is it possible to fall in love with a store? YES! The Warren Store is not your typical "store". It has one of the best selections of wine (from $10 on up) and craft beer. The deli is amazing!! Fresh roasted coffee, house made pastries, homemade bread, soups, sandwiches, everything you would want from a country store. The owners are wonderful people, warm and inviting, as well as helpful (without being pushy). It's adorable too, rustic, and cozy with great local art. It's been in business for several decades and is cherished by the locals. That tells me everything. If you are headed up to ski or explore, stop here. You'll probably see me stuffing my face on one of their pastries. (We are lucky enough to travel here four times a winter). See you there!

Yelp
Soggy overpriced sandwiches for $20? $6.50 for a croissant that feels like you have a gym sock in your mouth? I live just down the street, and I wouldn't eat here if I were starving. This is a tourist ripoff that impresses suckers from New Jersey with its Olde New England charm. Don't fall for it.

Yelp
This store use to be a staple in Warren village. A charming fair priced country store. Now it's an extension of a conglomerate overly priced... $9.00 for a bagel an egg and cream cheese. Insane the owner also owns the inn across the street and many other inns in the country. It's sad to see this place take a back seat to what a real Vermont country store use to be.

Yelp
The Warren store used to be a fixture for Warren. Since it's purchase, a few years back, it's now a perfectly hidden tourist trap, I suppose, with a entirely new staff, as they cleaned house after the purchase, and offers little to nothing for anyone in the valley, minus those who pay $600 a night across the way, to buy some syrup and a pack Of American Spirits... Lame sauce

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the Mad River Valley I make a pilgrimage to the Warren Store, I worked in the deli a decade ago. I was excited to see what the remodel was like and how the change of ownership affected things. Unfortunately, I have to agree with locals: the changes are not for the better. While the deli space has obviously opened up the food prep area in an amazing way, the customer flow is all off. It's impossible to peruse drinks or look in the deli case if you stay queued properly, and with payment at the counter you miss your opportunity to get extras. My friend and I both got the Number Six. Unbeknownst to us and the cashier, it was on special. Since we'd already paid, choosing and reringing the transaction was a huge bother. While I appreciate the staff wanting to charge appropriately, it was not a smooth or easy process. Most of the sandwiches now come standard on sliced bread, instead of the delicious baguettes the store used to be famous for. We requested baguettes, but ended up with sandwiches on sliced bread anyway. We were pressed for time and the line was long, so we just ate the mistake. While the portion of turkey was impressively large--really too much--the cranberry mayo was spread thin and the sandwich lacked balance. I also missed the sprouts that used to be a standard option. I wanted to buy a few items at the store register, but it wasn't staffed. It appeared one of the deli cashiers had to come over if somebody wanted general merchandise. I passed and left with find memories of the Warren Store, but little intention of returning.

Yelp
The cutest store in Vermont! The have a deli and a little gift/ food shop when you first walk in. I was able to get a bunch of souvenirs here for my friends and family. We also came back later in the day for some sandwiches from the deli, which were absolutely delicious. They were pretty big sandwiches, so I was able to save half for my long road trip home after. The only downside was that the line is always long and moves pretty slowly, but I guess that's because the deli food is delicious. They also have an upper level with cute clothes and homemade items. There were a few things that caught my eye, but I didn't have any room in my suitcase for more stuff. Definitely a place you have to visit if you're in the area!

Yelp
This place sells souvenir, toys and a bit of everything upstairs. They also sell sandwiches and soups downstairs. The price is high at $15-$20 per sandwich (comparable to a proper restaurant). Food quality is okay but the kitchen is very poorly managed. They have 20-30 sandwiches made ready but no one ever delivered them to the customers. No response even quite a while after we checked up with them. We had to wait ridiculously for more than half an hour for just two simple sandwiches. I don't recommend this place.

Maureen K.

Yelp
My husband decided to try a breakfast sandwich and coffee here v going to our usual coffee pick up at Provisions. He ordered bacon, egg and cheese and was excited to start his morning. Wrong! After confirming that the sandwich would be on a TOASTED English muffin, he waited 30 min and the sandwich was disgusting and not toasted. Horrible. Threw it out.

D R.

Yelp
This isn't a review so much is a foreshadowing. I see in your future a lovely country store, an expensive sandwich and finding a brick wrapped in paper when you're out in the trail hiking. Go to the next place

Himabindu K.

Yelp
This store has quite amazing stuff, we really liked visiting this place as they had so many handmade crafts, food, beverages etc! We order caprese without mozzarella which tasted really good! And the iced lattes were average! The service was great, they responded to our questions very quickly

Beth J.

Yelp
Like stepping back in time! Cute place to pick up souvenirs, and grab a delicious bite to eat. We happened to stop in 10 minutes before close. They were happy to fix us fresh sandwiches, and they also gave us each a free pastry since they were getting ready to close. All of the staff were very sweet, except for the gift shop lady. I peeked in the upstairs and the lady "greeted" me with "we close in two minutes". Hello would have been nice. The girls downstairs made up for her grumpy, unfriendly attitude.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Holy cow every food item sold here was A+. Their breakfast sandwiches, the specialty coffees, the desserts, baked bread. We went every morning while we stayed in Warren. Cute little shop with good service. Even the drip coffee was excellent.

Emily B.

Yelp
My family and I used to hit the Warren Store every year for sandwiches before hiking Mt. Abe on our annual Vermont visit to the Grandparents. Sometimes we would switch it up and stop by afterwards and eat sandwiches on the back porch. Some of my most distinct memories are sitting on the rocks with my sisters, swinging our hiking boot-clad feet over the stream, listening to the calming sound of running water. It is quintessential New England. I've been back as an adult and it is just as lovely, and I have a new appreciation for their sandwiches!

Matt S.

Yelp
Fantastic deli food and a bit of everything. It can get a bit chaotic due to its popularity, but it's well earned. The outdoor seating is a nice update for summer visits, too.

Yelp
Needed to give some props to the Warren Store for being there when we needed it most! My family was about to go swimming at Warren Falls when we had the need for a bathroom. In the mountains there was no internet service, no Yelp...., I had no idea where to go. After traveling on mountainous roads for ten minutes in one direction without seeing any signs of civilization, I turned around. On the other side of the Falls, I found the small town of Warren. The only place that was open was the Warren Store. The rest room is located in a separate building out back. (Yes, there is plumbing!) in fact, the bathroom is very clean. The store employees gave us a nod and a smile when we headed there first without even entering the store. Afterwards, we checked out the store which was so quaint. You really feel like you are back in time. It is really the quintessential general store. There is a small seating area, a deli., and bakery items. My son and I shared a scrumptious homemade Moon Pie. We made sure to spend a few moments enjoying the beautiful brook/waterfall right next to the store. Although we missed some of the fun at Warren Falls, my son and I got an extra bonus by finding this lovely spot.

Yelp
Used to love the charm of this place, but stopped in today to find a completely different, impersonal vibe. Change is always welcome, but the Warren Store's new owners misfired greatly. We did come for sandwiches, but the place is basically just a deli now and lower on quality. Certainly not worth $17 for a sub. Best wishes for a fresh retake soon!

Paige H.

Yelp
the BEST little country store!!! they have all the goods you could want and the staff is very kind... the GF brownie was a hit with one friend, the regular brownie was a hit with another, the flourless chocolate cake was decadent and my husband loved it, and I had this walnut / coconut / chocolate bar thing that was INSANELY delicious... I highly recommend stopping in here!

Jason B.

Yelp
It's a nice store and the food is pretty decent. But I would recommend stopping the free coffee offer for checking in. The coffee is among the worst I've ever tasted.

Douglas S.

Yelp
Beautiful old country store in a stunning little village right on the river! Excellent food at the deli and cool things to look at in the shop. Sit inside the historic old building or out on the deck overlooking the rushing river -- highly recommended!

Pamela M.

Yelp
Just picked up our Valentine's Dinner at The Warren Store! Everything was packaged well, and the dinner included a long stemmed red rose! Perfect! I did the same thing last year, so I know the meal will be delicious. The Warren Store never disappoints whether I am buying sandwiches, baked goods, wine, or shopping for the latest fashions upstairs!

Yelp
When we're traveling up Vermont's Route 100 we always stop in here. It's not even a question. For starters, we know we'll find something tasty to eat. The sandwiches for example are terrific and have cute names. But there are all kinds of other food delights too including baked goods. We stock up on more water for the drive and if we think we might want a picnic later complete with wine, we can get a bottle here. But really, it's just so darn pleasant both inside and outside the store that even if we were stuffed to the gills with food and drink, we'd stop by anyway for a browse around, maybe get some ice cream, or perhaps to sit for a spell on the front porch front or back and just hang out right there near the Mad River. The entire surrounding area is lush and gorgeous. It's Vermont at its storybook best. If we need a local gifty for someone back home we usually find something perfect here. Yes, a lot of Route 100 tourists stop here but it's a place the locals patronize too. This go round while hanging out on the porch we met a friendly woman, her young daughter and their adorable 10 week old Australian shepherd puppy who they told us would one day grow up to help them herd the sheep on the farm they own up the road. Inside you'll see the whole place has a very old-timey look (but authentic and not "let's try to look old-timey") with lots of vintage pieces like the tables, chairs, the wonderful wooden coolers and the old pot belly stove. It's rustic, filled with charm and the real deal without the kitsch. Buy some goodies, stretch your legs and strike up a friendly conversation and then it's back you go on amazing Route 100 restored to your new and improved Vermont sensibilities.

Yelp
Okay, I'm not from Vermont I'm not sure if this is a thing but this store is a deli/bakery/ liquor store/ clothing store/ souvenir shop! That's ALOT of things in one! The workers were very nice. It's a good store to stop in and grab some things for people back at home. Don't get me wrong convenient at its finest but i think it was too much. The deli part was ok, but from the reviews it seemed like a pretty good place to try, but no bagels, no toaster, no panini machine, it was very odd! Maybe another try may be different.

Caitie B.

Yelp
Sandwiches were good, and expensive, but when you are picking up a sandwich, you shouldn't be asked to give a 20, 25, 30% tip upon checking out, with no clear option or mention to not select one of the only options in the screen. Taking advantage of the COVID situation, when it's hard times for all, uncool.

M J.

Yelp
Seating inside is too scarce lately and the plan to add more cannot come soon enough. For some reason they lost a table and I cannot understand why they don't just put in a 4 top, temporarily, until the new seating is ready. As far as the new plan is concerned I'd like to suggest two long, narrowish, communal tables with benches, to maximize the amount of people they can get in space - ie no chunky chairs or smaller tables that allow people with laptops to "use" extra, needed seats. Laptop people, this really isn't you're place. Save it for the city. Or weekdays. Oh, and the chicken leek potato soup was A+. I seriously considered driving back for more.

Chris S.

Yelp
Another great breakfast at The Warren Store! Fresh breakfast burrito & great coffee al fresco on a beautiful VT day at The Warren Store...a little slice of heaven!

Tony Z.

Yelp
Are you kidding??? Incredible food. If you are in the area, stop and eat. You won't be sorry, and you're gonna go back. Fantastic place.

Gina R.

Yelp
The Warren Store is a wonderful place for sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee. We just ordered our daughter's birthday cake from the store and it was delicious. The upstairs shop is also an eclectic mix of one of a kind items.

Ann P.

Yelp
Cute spot chock full of treats, tourista items, food stuff, staples and more. The deli was packed each time. Our sandwiches were A OK, not wow. Everyone was super friendly.

Katrina K.

Yelp
Love this place Great sandwich's and fries and baked goods! Also good beer and wine selection and great place for some VT gifts

Nancy B.

Yelp
Great little store and good breakfast food!

Yelp
As other reviewers have mentioned, The Warren Store is a must visit destination. I don't know why.....something about the location, the charm of the smallness and simplicity of the rustic interior, or maybe it's the waterfall in the back of the building where one can sit on a picnic table to enjoy their sandwich and snacks. But here's the thing, The Warren Store is not just about being reminiscent of a bygone atmosphere. They actually serve really really really outstanding food. No really! This revelation only came to us after we ordered our first Godzilla sandwich which consists of a moderate portion of freshly sliced rare roast beef, Swiss cheese, thinly sliced red onion, fresh leaf lettuce, and a slice of tomato. We opted for regular mayo instead of horseradish mayo and locally sourced gluten free sliced white bread instead of regular bread. My husband also ordered a cup of soup.....I think it was mushroom chicken?.....which was one of the two selections of the day. After savoring each bite of The Godzilla, we both looked at each other in agreement that we had to leave with two more sandwiches to go. Incidentally, by the time it took us to finish lunch, one of their soup selections had already been wiped off the chalk board. So on to round two. Of course we had to get another Godzilla and in the same way. In addition, we ordered The Family which is their version of an Italian sandwich with oil and vinegar dressing, salami, capicola, provolone cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and regular mayo per our request. We also had this on gluten free sliced white bread and asked them to hold the hot pepper relish which comes standard. As I write this in the comfort of our own home over 6,000 miles away from The Warren Store with a couple of boxes of locally made Maple Almond Brittle and Dark Chocolate Dipped Salted Caramels in hand, I conclude that this was definitely a memorable part of our trip and think you'll find it to be for you too.

Yelp
The upstairs boutique is wonderful - lots of unique and well-curated gifts, decor, clothes, including some of the cutest infant and toddler fashions. We got a whimsical hooked wool rug - it was hard to decide which one to get. Excellent browsing. Downstairs general store is very nice also. Tuna sandwich on baguette was nicely done with olives and pickles. Veg chili very tasty. Watch out for Venetian ginger ale in green glass bottle - VERY SPICY. They have Mexican coke - yay. Old-timey refrigerated cases are delightful.

Lyn W.

Yelp
Love the Warren store! Some of the best sandwiches in the valley! They also have a fabulous beer and wine selection.

Neil M.

Yelp
Great place, helpful staff, interesting items for sale and they helped me find a pharmacy!

Mike N.

Yelp
As a local I love this place for the sandwiches and the beer. Prices are a bit steep for certain items. Definitely not a one stop shop for groceries. East Warren store has you covered for that. Customer service is where this falls flat. The older gentlemen that work here are rather cold and unfriendly. You're the face of the business, be more professional and courteous.

Juanita S.

Yelp
Oh no! I've lowered my rating! I recently called in a lunch deli order on 8/31. I knew it was a busy day so rather than clog up the store I'd call ahead and then pick it up. There is no clear "system" for picking up call ins that I could see. I stood by the deli, waited for either of the two young men to acknowledge me. When they didn't I said, "Excuse me. I called in an order." One of them slightly nodded, then stood still and continued his conversation with the other deli dude. After about thirty seconds he reached right in front of him, grabbed a sandwich and wordlessly placed it in front of me. "MARY" it read. "Excuse me. I'm not Mary." He again wordlessly grabbed a sandwich and placed it on the counter. 2nd time is the charm I guess...but man, a few customer service lessons as well as some humility could be taught here.

Marie C.

Yelp
Absolutely adore this shop in Warren! They had super awesome sandwiches, so definitely stop by for lunch one day. I had the "number 6" which is turkey, lettuce tomato, onions and their special cranberry mayo dressing! So so good! And don't miss out on the yogurt and homemade granola. I thought the granola was so great that I bought a large bag of it to-go, which they gladly sold to me! They also have a top-notch drink selection... I tried the locally-made Maple Orange Cream Soda from Cabot, VT.... It was very good! If you are staying to eat, there is a nice-sized area with seating, which is very convenient! There is also a great boutique shop upstairs... I found some really unique items up there! I loved this place so much that I came back a second time during my short 3-day, 2-night trip to Vermont! Highly recommend!

Joe S.

Yelp
I've been happily coming here with my family for years. Today I ordered a hummus sandwich with olives. When I opened it, it was terrible. They'd obviously taken a fist full of olives rather than a few. When I brought it back, the guy behind the counter just grunted and proceeded to do the same thing again. The deli manager saw it and didn't care a bit and the third person behind the counter was complaining about a customer. When I asked the cashier for a manager she said that the manager was the woman at the deli. ;-( The picture that I've attached is of the second sandwich, which was supposedly improved.

Corbet G.

Yelp
If you're looking for some interesting souvenirs for friends and family while visiting Vermont, the Warren Store is a must-stop. Packed to the gills with an eccentric array of Vermont-centric items, you're bound to find a great gift for friends or family. I picked up some local maple syrup for my mother, along with a local artist print and frame for my partner. They happily gift wrapped the items, free of charge. If I'm ever back in Vermont, I'll definitely make an effort to stop at the Warren store again!

Chris M.

Yelp
This place is soooo over hyped. It is literally a hipster market that fell off the charm bracelet of a "LL Bean" catalog. Overpriced and just lame. The view from the deck us all this place has. If you like overpriced lunch meat sandwiches and soda...then congrats...your a Ponce.

Professor C.

Yelp
Fun and fabulous. We were staying at The Pitcher Inn and made it over to The Warren Store each day and seemed to come back with a load of stuff each day. Great selection and a great staff. If only Woolrich would start making the Hemlock shirt again! . . . I bought one at The Warren Store. . . loved it and tried to buy a couple more. Alas, they have stopped making them. But, we've already got a return trip scheduled and it will certainly include a trip to The Warren Store.

Ridge W.

Yelp
Our go to spot every morning of our ski trip to Sugarbush - green mountain coffee & amazing scones lemon blueberry first am ginger raisin next... deli excellent sandwiches to take for lunch to upper lodge on slopes - Roast beef godzilla & Turkey Tumbler huge hit with big eaters Warren Store is a must & that potbelly stove!!!

William F.

Yelp
The Warren Store is a bit of a tourist trap, but so are a lot of the country stores in Vermont and at least the Warren Store parking lot can't fit a tour bus. On the inside you'll find the necessities: decent coffee, local beer, a great deli, some souvenirs, a bunch of candy, and creaky floorboards. Upstairs is a surprisingly upscale (or at least expensive) clothing boutique. The sandwiches are big enough to share. My recent experience was with a hummus and vegetable sandwich that had lots of tasty veggies and plenty of hummus, but could have used some hot peppers or a more garlicky hummus to give it some zip. Paired with some salt and vinegar kettle chips and a world class pickle, it made a great lunch. You can order whatever sandwich you want, but the pickle is a must. Perfectly crisp and briney. If you can manage it without endangering yourself, eating your haul on a rock by the stream that runs next to the store is always enjoyable. Oh, and they had some Heady Topper in the fridge so obviously I left with a four pack.

Steve W.

Yelp
This store was so fun for me. From the creaking floors to the overly friendly staff at the register, this place is everything you want in a general store. They know what they are doing in the kitchen too. Come for the witch windows and covered bridge, stay for the hospitality and tasty treats.

Marina M.

Yelp
The staff were in a hurry to close at 5. We got there at 4:45 and were asked what we were looking to buy. I'm struggling to understand who this store is catering to if you assume that most of the people come to ski snd need time to get back. Good idea to have a cute store in Warren but rude staff and overpriced. Missing essential groceries.

Shawn V.

Yelp
This was a iconic store for me in Vermont. In the last few months I think new owners must of bought it that obviously aren't from the valley. Been in a few times and was greeted by a not so friendly woman each time. Prices are higher then ever and there is no welcoming feeling to this store anymore. I'll never step there again!

M J.

Yelp
Great store, fun deli and wonderful staff. A very Vermonty feel and atmosphere. Local products and unique items for sale. 10/10

Andrew N.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Warren Store for over thirty years and have always had a fondness for their sandwiches, old time candies and beer selection. After getting a sandwich today, it's clear the staff behind the counter need some training on customer service. While waiting patiently to place my order I was told by two staff members who weren't doing anything that someone else was responsible for taking orders. The person taking orders was finally available and hastily scribbled down my order while half listening. He inevitably mixed up my order and offered no apologies, only the accusation I had ordered something else. When I thought he had redone my sandwich, I mistakenly grabbed another customer's sandwich and was cynically asked whether I had a female's name. When you're selling 9 dollar sandwiches, they should come with appreciation and a smile. The quaint spirit the store had in the past seems to be fading.

Hanschen H.

Yelp
The Warren Store offers much more than just sandwiches. The baked goods are the very best in the Valley. Get there early when they come right out of the baker's oven and you will be rewarded by the best in all of Vermont. Yes, even better than Red Hen which is also heavenly Devine. My most "fave" salad or sandwich filling is the curried chicken. I always get a cup of the perfect brewed coffee - hot, flavorful, and aroma perfect. For a cold drink, any of the boutique ginger beers are spicy and will blow your mind. Outside eating by the bubbly falls is certainly a treat. All their soups are superb, especially the leek. Really a nifty place for lunch and even better for an early breakfast Frenchie style with hot pastry and coffee.
