Such a great hidden gem in Kandy. The owner as per other reviews really is the reason that sets this antique store above any others I've visited. Upon entering we were immediately welcomed with such a warm energy from the owner and his family. We loved that he proceeded to tell us that we are welcome to open any drawer or display cabinet and look every nook and cranny as we pleased, furthermore he gave us a history of many of the items he had collected. Such a cool store- even if you don't intend on buying it's just nice to walk around for a shot llrt visit. Sri Lanka so far for us has been amazing simply from the people and this is very apparent in Waruna Antiques. The owner has such a great energy. On my travels in different countries, when shopping sometimes the owner(s) will turn their nose up at tourists who decide not to spend and just wish to browse. I've found these stores are generally ones who claim to be "factories" and are normally offering drivers or taxis a commission to bring tourists. These I have found (imo) to be tourist traps with exaggerated prices. We made only small purchase, but this was appreciated by the owner and tbh we felt no pressure from the owner to buy at all. A small discount was even applied without even us asking. We bought because this item took my wife's eye, not because we felt obliged or pressured. It shall be proudly displayed in our cabinet back home in the UK. Shop local and shop independent- like Waruna Antiques. To the owner- thanks again for the shop tour and history behind your business and family. Lots of posting energy from your UK Punjabi customers. ✌🏽

We stopped by Waruna Antiques since it was near our homestay, and ended up spending 4 hours there! Dense, multi level space with things everywhere. Every drawer full of more and more interesting whatnots. Endless exploration. This is totally my type of store! We ended up buying all sorts of eclectic stuff from cheap to expensive. We also enjoyed having tea with the owner, Waruna himself. He knows every item in his store, and can tell you the story of any object that catches your eye. He is a walking encyclopedia. I love this little bronze Kali that I bought there!

This shop’s collection—and especially its owner—offer a truly standout experience. If you’re into genuine one of a kind antiques, ancient relics, and jewelry, this is the place to visit. The selection is absolutely exquisite, and the best part for me was the owner’s warmth and energy which made it even more special. I always stop at antique stores wherever I travel, and this is top tier. I can’t wait to come back next time I’m here.

Wow wow wow. This shop is a must if you’re visiting Kandy. Waruna the owner is one of the most likable interesting souls I ever met. No pressure to buy but I got some beautiful antique sapphire jewellery and a statue which he gifted me for free. His collection is absolutely huge and mind blowingly beautiful I had tea and treats whilst talking with him and swapping stories about life. This is just a shop it’s an experience that will leave a lasting memory. I would love to work in such a shop, would love to feel the passion that Waruna clearly has for all these beautiful things. It’s a must if you’re in Kandy

Waruna welcomed us into his 'Aladins Cave' full of antiques and history, a lovely way to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the Kandy Streets - and the black tea with honey & lemon was delicious - thank you to all the team

Nice little store with a helpful owner, but sky-high prices and not the highest quality items. For example, a very much second rate (wood wormed) carved head of a festival horse for 1500 USD - we saw a top notch complete horse (with body) in an upmarket Colombo store for just a little over double that. Worth a visit, but don't expect to find any bargains!
