Warung Cahaya has become my go-to must-eat spot every time I’m in Bali. Their pork sambal matah is a best-seller—and for a good reason.
The pork is perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, yet tender and chewy on the inside. The dish is served with a sunny-side-up egg (you can request your preferred doneness), and it really elevates the flavor. The fresh shallots and sambal matah add a bright, spicy kick that ties everything together beautifully.
Be sure to come before lunch hour, as it gets crowded quickly. The place is quite small, and while they do have an indoor area, I’ve never sat there myself. Given Bali’s heat, waiting outside can be a bit of a challenge.
Parking is also a bit tricky due to the location and the crowd, so plan accordingly.
