Been at Ritson's Bar, Wasdale Head Inn last Friday, 24th October. A popular spot for walkers,|campers and climbers. Dogs are allowed. The innkeeper were both dog lovers and very accommodating. They have dog menu. The place is cozy with clean toilet. We are not hungry but the chips and fish finger was served nicely hot. They’ve made me a cup of latte as the machine itself doesn’t have a plant based milk. They even offered a sausage for the dog if we want to and a dog treat freebies. The inn keeper understood that we were overprotective with our small puppy and informed incoming punters with big dogs to sit on the other side of the pub. Recommended to all walkers, climbers, dog owners and nature lovers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||This place is 10 minutes drive from Wastwater Lake. 13 minutes walk from Ritson’s force. ||The main mountains near the Wasdale Head Inn are Scafell Pike(England's highest), Great Gable, Pillar, Kirk Fell, and Yewbarrow.

We've eaten here a few times now and had mixed experiences. In February we had a really nice meal so we returned this week expecting the same. As we were in the area for four days we ended up eating here for three. One meal was good. The other two were not great for the price. The pies lacked seasoning and were not home made. At times the chips appeared to have been sat for a while and then reheated, at other times they were good. 2/3 times the gravy was thin and tasteless. It seems that the food is not made fresh/ on site. It's a shame because the atmosphere and the service were great, the staff were very friendly and the area is beautiful.

I recently stayed at the inn on 07/09. The room itself was fantastic and I had no issues. The reason for writing this review is because I had to check out early in the morning because I was doing a hike up the summit twice in 1 day. ||Upon my return after the second summit my family made a surprise visit at the end of the hike. I had to take them to the toilet and poppy/poppe (apologise if I got the spelling wrong) the lady at the front door was very kind and helpful. She let me take the kids to clean toilets inside the inn. I was also able to have a shower there. To some this may be a small act of kindness but to me it was very helpful and huge. It meant I could get the kids clean and ready for our travel back and I could also freshen up as well. Thank you very much for that. ||I would really recommend staying at the inn not only for its location, quality of its room but also for the hospitality. ||Thank you

We didn’t stay overnight, just called in for some food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was nice overall. The only letdown was the flatbread, which was quite dry and a bit stale. Overall, though, we really enjoyed the place and would happily visit again

A super friendly pub, with fantastic service. The food was of a very high standard and the portion size was good for a hungry walker! Prices were pretty reasonable for my tight pockets :). I’d highly recommend this establishment.

The Wasdale Head Inn in the Lake District offers a cozy, welcoming vibe with stunning views. The chicken shawarma was flavorful, well-spiced, and generously portioned, though slightly greasy. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect for a post-hike meal. A solid choice for hearty pub fare.

Scenery is beautiful, food is great, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast set up was lovely and full English was excellent - I had a great time and going to pop back in two weeks. The staff are incredible- they are all so friendly and helpful- it’s a wonderful place, loads of walks, wild swimming and had the best of craic in the pub. My wee dog was treated like a princess by all - very dog friendly. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better weekend break! Thank you to the team - I had 7 star service!

We dropped by Wasdale Head Inn just for a few pints, and even with the rain pouring down, it was something special. The grey skies and steady drizzle only made the landscape feel more dramatic — raw, moody, and absolutely stunning. The pub had a warm, welcoming feel, perfect for drying off and relaxing. A proper pint in a place like that hits different. It felt like stepping into a postcard from old England — misty mountains, stone walls, and a pint in hand. We didn’t need sunshine to enjoy it — the rain added to the charm. Would absolutely go again.
