First stay at Wasdale Head, Christmas 2024. Loved it very much. Welcoming, efficient staff, very willing to give help if needed. Food very good, perhaps typical fayre, well presented and served, large portions. Rooms comfortable and clean. A great place for walkers and climbers. Bar areas deliberately rustic; very much part of its charm. Our dog was welcomed. Staff excellent with a clear love of the hotel. . Courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very good and accessible amenities for walkers - showers, washing up area, outdoor seating. Lovely beck to watch. Views at this place just stunning. St Olaf’s Church is a must see.

Best pub at that end of the valley :) it's a really welcome sight when you head back down after a long day on the hills. Great beer and food. Always reliable and great staff.

Had a brilliant lunch here yesterday, food great and a very warm welcome from highly attentive staff, despite a wedding going on the same time! Lovely atmosphere and thanks so much - soup was more than delicious! thanks!!

We had a great 2 night stay here a week ago. Perfect hotel for climbing in the Lakes. Clean accommodation with great food at the bar downstairs. Good service and nothing is a problem. The breakfast is very good and the lady serving was outstanding. Would recommend and will be staying again

We loved our stay at this cosy traditional|Hotel. We were welcomed on arrival and felt very relaxed - nice casual atmosphere with lots of fellow walkers. Great hearty breakfast and we were pleased with the vegan choices for our daughter - also at dinner which I will review in the restaurant section. This is such a beautiful part of the world and a very special place to stay

This hotel is in a fabulous location and is cozy and welcoming. Doesn’t feel like a hotel but very much like a home. Walking from here is excellent. We were fortunate to stay just as a new chef arrived and it was excellent. Much improved menu and standard of food. Portions were huge, freshly cooked and the breakfasts which are served in a beautiful wood panelled dining room were excellent. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome.

The location is the star here, perfect for superb views and numerous top walks straight out of the door. As a hotel it's a bit basic, but modestly priced. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is standard pub grub, the fried breakfast an excellent start for a big day on the hills. It's the location that will keep me coming back.

Great staff, cosy atmosphere, high quality traditional pub grub. Reasonably stocked bar, with local ales, though a bit more variety would be nice. Picturesque location surrounded by England's highest mountains and a babbling river outside. The place was packed with walkers eating and drinking, and there didn't seem to be enough staff on duty to cope with the demand. The poor barman was pouring drinks and taking kitchen orders non-stop, and I had to remind the kitchen girl that I was still waiting for my food after 50 minutes. It was, however, delicious.
