Wasdale Head Inn

Stayed here with a friend after hiking from Buttermere on Saturday 21st Feb. The Inn is really impressive, it’s amazing to stay somewhere with so much history. We ate dinner in the hikers bar in the evening, the steak and ale pie is to die for!! And the breakfast in the dining room was brilliant in the morning. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming from when we first arrived up until checkout. There’s a few comments about the rooms being dated, but you are literally staying in a building from the 1800’s. You have all the modern amenities you could need. Plug sockets, wifi, self controlled heating in the room also which was a bonus to be able to dry some of our damp gear. The room was spotless and the shower was crazy powerful, after a long hike it was nice to clean up and refresh before going down for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back in the future. 10/10 for me. Thanks to the staff who made our stay so amazing!

Such an iconic place to stay. The bar was buzzing the night we stayed with people chatting about their day, families playing board games and lots of mountain-doggies. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly. This is a real hikers/climbers/runners place to stay, don’t expect high end luxury, but if you want a fantastic base for your hill adventure with good food and friendly service then you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely pub to go for a drink and light dinner after the big hike. Lovely atmosphere and staff. Sat outside on the bench and played one of their free games. The onion rings were unreal

Fantastic pub experience with very friendly and welcoming staff. Very comfortable seating areas. The food menu was excellent. The food was amazing. We have always had an excellent meal here. 0% beers are available.

Proper pub food! Lots of drinks available, including alcohol free, teas, coffees etc. We came for our tea, it was nice & warm inside, service was quick and the staff were lovely. The chicken pie and fish & chips were both stunning. We even had desserts!

Been at Ritson's Bar, Wasdale Head Inn last Friday, 24th October. A popular spot for walkers,|campers and climbers. Dogs are allowed. The innkeeper were both dog lovers and very accommodating. They have dog menu. The place is cozy with clean toilet. We are not hungry but the chips and fish finger was served nicely hot. They’ve made me a cup of latte as the machine itself doesn’t have a plant based milk. They even offered a sausage for the dog if we want to and a dog treat freebies. The inn keeper understood that we were overprotective with our small puppy and informed incoming punters with big dogs to sit on the other side of the pub. Recommended to all walkers, climbers, dog owners and nature lovers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||This place is 10 minutes drive from Wastwater Lake. 13 minutes walk from Ritson’s force. ||The main mountains near the Wasdale Head Inn are Scafell Pike(England's highest), Great Gable, Pillar, Kirk Fell, and Yewbarrow.

Don't get the chilli con carne. Snide small portion in a large bowl for the cost, bit of a piss take really. Wasn't even tasty so ruined an appetite after the hike we've just done. Poor reward. Hopefully this negative feedback sorts out your chefs poor attitude in making a customer happy. Either that or I've just ate a £2 microwave meal and been stung for £17.

It’s a traditional pub at the foot of the highest and most spectacular mountains in England. It’s a bit rough around the edges. Service is great. Good trad pub food is served all day. A happy place for me and my family. There is no accessible parking and the main car park is 30 metres from the entrance. The Wi-Fi is not great. I feel bad removing a star for that, because I love the place, but I need to be fair. I haven’t used the accommodation so o can’t rate it.
