"Housed in a 19th-century water tower in Cologne’s Altstadt (Old Town), this distinctive hotel features 88 rooms over 10 floors, each immaculately envisioned by French designer Andrée Putman. The upper floors offer the best views—as well as the most recently refurbished rooms—but all the accommodations are equally elegant, with dark hardwood floors, neutral furnishings, and private bathrooms with high-quality toiletries. Throughout the rest of the hotel, a unique amalgam of glass, wood, and, brickwork—some of which is from the original building—lend the space an industrial-chic feel. In case you end up in a lower room, there’s always the 360° Panorama Roof Terrace, for a bird’s-eye look at the cathedral and beyond."

Unique building with lovely city views. Friendly reception. We were well taken care of as Hilton diamond member. Location felt a bit quiet but was still quite close to wherever we needed to go. Parking has electric charging but you need an adapter. Unfortunately there was a false fire alarm at 5am but thankfully it was quickly addressed by local fire dept.

Wonderful building, lovely staff, tasty breakfast and good location (if you like a walk). The bed was super comfy and the room had a nice seating area as well as a hallway so it didn’t feel too much like a hotel room. We stayed in the King sized room. It was a little hot as the windows don’t open but the air con is available all day and night. Nice and quiet too. |The hotel is situated a bit from the centre but that was fine as it’s easy to navigate the streets and find your way to the cathedral or chocolate museum. |The roof top bar is beautiful and the drinks are lovely (though a bit expensive). |I would 100% stay again.

This hotel is in one of the best locations for anyone wanting to visit Cologne. It’s close to everything—you can reach almost any place you want within 15 minutes. The staff was absolutely polite and helpful. I would give them 5 stars. However, there are a few points that could be improved. The most important issue was with the shower—the hot water kept switching between hot and cold every minute, which was very uncomfortable. Also, the photos shown when booking the room are random. For example, if you see a photo with an arched brick window view, it doesn’t mean your room will have it. You need to specifically request that type of room, which is not ideal. Our room had a patio, but the door to it was locked and we had no access. There wasn’t even a window we could open to let in some fresh air. The flat-screen TV was quite outdated. These days, TVs should at least support features like screen mirroring or apps like Netflix and YouTube. This is especially disappointing considering it’s one of the most expensive hotels in Cologne. The iron and ironing board were also in poor condition. Overall, I expected much more from a 4-star hotel managed by the Hilton group.

Unique hotel and experience. We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing. It had an art theme which was provocative. I enjoyed most of it other than the mannequin that was located just around the corner when you entered the suite. It made you think that there was someone in the room. The suite was on two floors. With the lower floor having a living room, a dinning area, a coffee station, and a half bathroom. The upper floor was like a mezzanine with a bedroom and a huge bathroom. I didn't like that the bathroom did not have a door (sometimes you want your privacy). We wanted to try the bar on the top floor but it was closed because there was a private party being held there. The location is a bit remote, but it is right by a U-bahn station, so it is easy to get to the center.

The hotel was amazing and the location is perfect! The rooms were spacious and really nice. Service was good too. At the reception,( riwan yosif) welcomed us and she was absolutely great! She gave us awesome tips about places to visit in Cologne and answered all our questions. Super friendly and helpful! We’ll definitely be coming back to this hotel again.

What a unique hotel!! This is a singular hotel in an old water tower. While not the most centrally located, it's a mere 10-15 min walk to city center and Schildergasse str. The hotel also features Bar Botanik - a gorgeous rooftop bar with great city views and amazing, though expensive, drinks. Rooms are a bit on the smaller size due to the unique architecture of the building, but well equipped and well worth it. The gym is quite impressive for European standards and features various aerobics machines, free weights, a smith machine, a rowing machine, and a variation of a pully machine. One of the nicest surprises: when I arrived, there was a problem with hot water in the hotel. It only lasted an hour, but the staff sent me a complimentary wine bottle as compensation, alongside a personal hand written note. What an amazing touch! This will easily become my go-to hotel in Koln!

Our stay in Cologne was nothing short of amazing—it could have easily been a 5-star hotel! Set in a beautifully restored historic water tower, the atmosphere was both unique and luxurious. We were lucky to have a top-floor room with stunning views of the Cologne Cathedral, Rhine River, and city skyline. Housekeeping was impeccable, and the front desk staff were friendly and full of great recommendations. We definitely want to return!

It was a very short stay at Wasserturm Hotel Cologne, but absolutely lovely! The location, even though I have arrived late at night, made immediate positive impression - the building is marvellous! I appreciate very much that there has been strong effort to keep its history, it is visible at the every step inside. The room was spacious, it has been a nice surprise to have the stairs leading to the bedroom area, and together with the high window it gave very special atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable as well, so you can have a very comfortable rest. Breakfast I would call a standard Hilton one, but with few nice improvements to it. Altogether, absolutely recommend. I hope the next time I arrive early enough to visit the bar on 11th floor, supposedly with stunning views over Cologne and delicious drinks.

Yelp
What a cool idea for a hotel. Set in an old water tower, you have never seen a place like this before. Even walking around the main floor it's kind of hard to navigate because there are a bunch of pillars/walls that make it hard to see across the room, but it kind of adds to the charm. The staff was really great at check-in. We got there early and our room wasn't quite ready, but that wasn't an issue, we were able to park the car and leave our luggage until later. The room itself was pretty nice. Two spacious rooms really, the bedroom and a living room. It's a shame they didn't take a little of the space from those rooms and make the bathrooms a bit larger...it was definitely tight, but not unusable. Unfortunately we were on the second floor and had a view of a couple of neighboring roofs, but as long as you're not looking out the windows there's enough inside to keep your interest. We didn't get to try any of the other amenities that were offered but overall we really enjoyed our time here. The parking garage was a bit spendy at 19 Euros per day, but I've seen worse. I don't know if I'd stay here again, but at least for a one-time experience I'd say we had a great time.

Yelp
'Ello chaps! I will say, Wasserturm Hotel Cologne is one of my all time favorite hotels - ever. You gotta love the vibe of this place. The hotel itself is inside a converted historic water tower, in the heart of Cologne's Old Town. Guaranteed, you've never stayed at a place like this. Walking to the room feels like you're staying in the underground vault from Gringots (Harry Potter). Service from staff was attentive and friendly. The rooms have tall cathedral like ceilings, although the bathrooms are a bit tight on space. The rooms were spacious. Note to non Germany speaking guests, the TV has limited options. The hotel recently opened a new sauna and work out space, both fantastic. Incredible amenities. There's also a bar on the top floor, restaurants and meeting rooms on site. Location: We managed to get around to the Christmas Markets without using public transportation. There are a variety of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores within a short walk. The Rhine River, Cologne Chocolate Museum are only a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel too. Overall I give this hotel five stars out of five. TIP: Americans love ice and staff are more than happy to provide, even though there are not any ice machines. Just go to the bar and ask for a cup or bucket of ice. You can also find bottled water (complimentary) in the work out room, and an ice machine in the sauna.

Yelp
Set in a former water tower built in the 19th century, Hotel Im Wasserturm is a unique hotel with a great location away from the crowd. A healthy ten minute walk to the main square and cathedral. There are about a dozen rooms/suites per floor. Our first impression was that the room layout and furnishings are a bit off and odd. The room is in a shape of a half circle. Remember, the hotel tower is completely round. The room-suite included a separate sitting room with a small desk, sofa, chairs, and flat-screen TV. The bathroom is large enough without feeling cramped. The toilet is in a separate space with its own wash basin. There is also a bidet near the shower. A little unfamiliar for North American tourist. A towel warmer in the bathroom is useful during the cold winter months. In the evening, housekeeping comes by to check if there is anything you need before you retire for the night. The most comfortable feature about the suite is the sleeping area. There is a large king bed with comfy mattress pad and warm individual comforters. Perfect for the cold December winter weather. Plenty of closet space and drawers. The gym is small with free weights, treadmill, and elliptical step trainer. A bonus in the 24 hour gym- The complimentary bottled water and assorted drinks in the cooler. For 20 Euros per person, we enjoyed the buffet breakfast one morning in their nicely decorated dining room. The cold cuts, salmon, pastries, cheeses, and hot egg dish were all yummy- but a bit pricey. The service personnel is efficient, but is a bit distant (German-style). No complaints here though. The staff is professional. The day of our departure, we accidentally left one of our cell phones in the room. I phoned the hotel from the central train station. Michael at the front desk searched and found our phone in our room. He even offered to send someone to the train station to reunited us with our phone loaded with important info and contacts. Thank you so much Michael..You deserve five stars ***** for your excellent customer service and friendly attitude during the check-out process. On our return to Cologne, we are staying here!

Yelp
As an event and restaurant venue- it's a spectacular view over the city, with an outdoor balcony, convenient parking garage underneath and elevators to the top. As a hotel, the marketing and branding is a bit more elegant than the basic and sparse interior furnishings and amenities of the rooms. On the 9th floor, we had floor to ceiling windows and were able to walk around on a balcony- which made up for everything inside the room feeling less luxurious than the views.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Germany and we thought the hotel was unique as a water tower converted to a Hotel. The front desk staff spoke English well. We were in the tower rooms and in room 601. The room is a large two story room. The room was probably amazing years ago but is tired now and needs painting and updating. You can not control the thermostat from your room and you must ask the front desk to change the temperature for you. When we arrived the room was very warm. They did turn it down when we asked. We went to the bar on the 11th floor and the view is amazing. We enjoyed a drink there and found the prices were good. The location of the hotel was good. We walked everywhere of interest with ease. We just thought with updating the place could be great. **the next day I asked the front desk to change rooms since ours seemed to be falling apart. We spoke to Natalie. She changed our room to 809 which was much better. We could walk onto the balcony and control the thermostat from this room. Natalie even brought us a beer. She changed this experience from a negative one To positive. I would return and Natalie was an excellent representative of the Hotel.**

Yelp
Amazing hotel! It is historical! Only downside is for those who have allergies, the rooms can get you stay awake. Apart from that amazing suites and clean!

Yelp
Very interesting hotel. Nice location and good service. Food was a bit pricey but tasty! I would stay here again! Lay out of rooms is something to get used to with shower on bottom floor and bed on top floor via spiral stair case in the 2 floor option. It was just about off season when we visited so it was very quiet. It is a nice place to stay and close to everything!

Yelp
Unique hotel. the service is good. Taking into consideration that this is a 5 start hotel and the price is quite high, the value for money question is out there. Given the fact that Cologne lacks a bit this kind of hotels, I give 4 stars Parking is far too expensive.
