Take out & CASH ONLY (atm located next building) Highly recommend the grilled onions! Wonderful staff! Excellent place to stop. Was busy!!but didn't wait long for my order! They also offer Wasses baseball caps (in red- bought one for $20) and Wasses t-shirts for sale too!

Inexpensive and YUMMY lunch! I kept seeing g this place recommended by bloggers and I am so glad we stopped by. My husband and I got 3 everything hotdogs, a classic, and a western, with a side of cheese fries. Everything was super good. Keep in mind this is a cash-only establishment.

An American classic! If you're driving through town on a summer vacation, Wasses is a must stop establishment. Why go to some overpriced sit down restaurant for a $15 salad? Here, you can enjoy a couple of simply topped hot dogs and fries. Or, if you're like me, try an assortment of toppings you won't find at other places. Chili, baked beans, bacon, sauerkraut, and spicy relish are just some of the unique toppings you'll find here. Trust me...these hot dogs are worth a try!

Long, long-time business, consistently good food and pleasant service. CASH-ONLY & the parking/eating area is not in great shape but we stop whenever we're in!

They are printing money! This place had a nice line at 1:30 but they were pushing out the dogs and stacking the cash like pros. The standard hot with everything is perfect taste of Maine - relish, fried onions, and mustard. The fries were perfectly fried and salted. The service could not have been more friendly. This place is a staple of summer. Yum!

This place has the best hot dogs I've ever had, hands down! Especially the hot dog with everything (fried onions, relish, and mustard). There's always a long line, but service is fast as they make the food immediately and have it ready by the time you're done paying Definitely come here for lunch if you're in town!

The hot dogs are steamed, the buns are steamed, all the toppings are on point. The nice lady gave my dog Dog a free hot dog. Everyone should go here at least once before they die.

We almost always stop by the Belfast Wasses but have eaten at the Rockland store, also. They both equally satisfy our hot dog craving! The Belfast store is in the Belfast Reny's parking lot and is both walk-up and drive-through. Plenty of parking and a few tables with umbrellas. There has always been an attendant at each side of the building, so the order is ready in a hurry. Friendliness is a common factor at both stores making you feel welcome and your business appreciated. We prefer the kraut dogs but have tried chili dogs. The buns are always fresh, the dogs grilled just right. As expected during these uneasy times, the prices just went up a little, but not enough to deter us! Just remember to bring cash - no other form of payment is accepted.

We came here based on the highest recommendations from locals, who regard it as a favorite spot. This is an old-fashioned lively busy, stand in line, yet divey place! We were not disappointed! The hot dogs and fries were excellent, to say the least. Now we understand why everyone raves about this place as one of the best for hot dogs in Maine! The serving lady was excellent and helpful! I highly recommend this place and hope to return the next time we are in the area!

Couldn't miss trying this famous hot dog stand when I was in Rockland, and I wasn't disappointed! Prepare to wait in line--it's clear that both locals and visitors are in the know--but it moves quickly and when you get your dogs you'll be glad you did. I went for their classic kraut dog, which also had relish and mustard and some onions; briny and pickly deliciousness. Also a chili cheese dog, because by the time I got to the head of the line I'd seen a few go past me and couldn't resist. The chili had a nice little zing to it, which was great. Super nice staff as well dishing things up for you. Wasses is a classic for a reason--one of those classic Maine summah spots you've got to try.

Guilty pleasure anytime we're close to Rockland! Bring cash, hungry bellies and a little patience.

Excellent service. Bea is a delight. The dogs are tasty, soft fresh buns. The fries were crispy with just the right amount of salt. We went @11. Just a couple of people ahead of us. Good was ready by the time we got our change and everything was hot. Cash only .

Almost 4 years have passed and memories may have faded so we once again joined the longish, slow moving line to order hot dogs for lunch. Once again we received, unless specified, a hot dog on an ungrilled bun with yellow mustard, sweet relish and grilled onions. Once again we were underwhelmed and wondered how did forget that these hot dogs were mediocre and not worth the wait?

Best dogs anywhere. Servers are pleasant and courteous. Whenever I go to Maine it's top on the bucket list.

Perfect lunch stop. Delicious hot dogs your way. We got "everything" plus ketchup. The fried onions were a perfect topping. We had ours on a nearby bench but most were eating in their cars. Loved it.

Ummm excuse me this place was so good! It was very fast too I was shocked! The thing that really won me over was the napkin placements. A napkin per hot dog and a bunch folded under the fries...as an avid napkin user and this was amazing. Also get yourself a cookie!

I absolutely love this place, they have the best cheese fries. I'm not a big fan of hotdogs but I will eat their hotdogs. The service is really quick and the people there are really nice! It is a pretty chill place and it is very peaceful there they have chairs and tables outside that you can sit at if you want and listen to the birds while you eat! i've been there so many times in the past month, I have tried to get cheese fries from anywhere else, but they do not taste the same at all. I can't get any better cheese fries from anywhere else!! What I'm trying to say is you should really try this place!

Excellent hot dog and fries stand. Easy to get to, private parking lot, right on the outskirts of downtown. Food is consistently excellent, as is the service, and I never have to wait more than a couple minutes or so in line/after ordering before my food is ready. They are like a well oiled machine here! I was lucky enough to meet Bea when I was there, and she has a hog dog special named after her that will blow your mind! Ask about "The Bea Special" next time you stop by. You will not be disappointed. It's all I ever order! And those lovely cheese fries, of course. Can't forget those :) Very affordable. Highly recommend!

There has never been a better hot dog made by man. I live 334 miles away, and make Wasses my first stop whenever I visit Maine. Simply the best!

Found it by mistake but what a delicious find. Hot dogs were delicious as well as the fries. Crinkle cut fries cooked perfect. Got the kraut dogs and tried one of the specials with fried onions relish and mustard. We liked that one the best but all were great. It's take out but tables were nearby. Ladies were very friendly and helpful. #stevensleavin

Delicious hot dogs cooked in peanut oil to differentiate them from the typically boiled hot dog. Place been here since 1972. I am not a big hot dog fan but I would always make room for this place in my life!

Food was so good and the prices so reasonable. Lady taking the orders and cooking was really friendly.

What can I say? Grilled hot dogs with loads of condiment choices from an iconic roadside shack on the coast of Maine served by super friendly ladies at the window and on the grill. If you're a hot dog aficionado and you're in Rockland...do it!

Once again I wasn't disappointed with my kraut and cheese dog. The kraut dog was loaded with a very generous amount of the German based Sauerkraut made with cabbage and salt. The cheese dog was topped with the perfect amount of melted cheddar cheese. Both dogs were grilled golden brown and placed in a steamed fresh hotdog bun. So, with this review in mind and if you are passing the Rockland area you just have to stop by the famous Wasses Hotdog Stand.

I can't ever say enough good things. THE BEST HOT DOGS EVER. Simple. Crispy. Amazing flavor. The buns are sooo soft and form to the dog so perfectly. My favorite hot dog combo is the bacon cheese "everything" - which includes mustard, relish, and onions. The ONLY thing I'd change is to be able to pay with credit card! I think they could really benefit from the use of a square or something because a lot of people don't always have cash and they just NEED a Wasses hot dog! Oh I almost forgot- the crinkle cut fries are crispy salty and always fresh!

If you don't go here you are missing one of life's greatest pleasures!!!! Don't eat dinner the night before- or breakfast that day. Head there for lunch a dig in! Seriously- don't die before you eat at Wasses. It would be a waste of a life!

Changed our route to try this spot with its great reviews and it was sadly closed on Friday. :(

I made a pilgrimage here after seeing Wasses on a best hot dogs list. The hot dog was fine, but don't kill yourself to get there. "The everything" was recommended. It has mustard, relish and grilled onions. Again, it's fine, but nothing special.

My Dad took me here a couple of years ago for the first time. Absolutely wonderful little place! I had a regular hot dog with ketchup and kraut dog, and they're so so delicious! They were open from 11-3 today and my family and I got here just in time. Stop by when you are able, you won't be disappointed!

These are good hot dogs unusual buns. Had the chili cheese dog and went back for a kraut dogs. Guilty pleasure and these ladies are a hoot so funny!

Well touted. For what reason, i am not sure. Having experienced coney island's hot dogs, deli hotdogs, Nathan's hot dogs, Wass's is a disappointment. Strange color, not very flavorful....not up there in comparison.

Still best hot dogs ever. If you are in Downeast coast and you don't stop at Wasses for an "everything" dog. Then you are truly missing out. It is part of the downeast experience. Any local will tell you it's the best around. When locals have family visit this is where they take them. They have hamburgers and fries. But everyone knows the dogs are just cooked perfectly. Simply put, the best Hot Dogs in Maine if not the country. Cooked in peanut oil and get 'em with sauteed onions. You'll want at least three.
