Wat Ban Tham

Around 2km hike. 1st part is very easy and end with a big cave. If you go higher you can see the whole area. Very beautiful scenary. Entrance free and very good people in the starting point. Not very famous tourist attraction. But if you like hiking this is a good place in kanchanaburi.

We came here on 26 July 2025. Lots of steps up to the dragon’s cave. Wear comfortable shoes. Unfortunately the temple area is not well maintained. Many parts can be improved.

Lovely temple with many steps especially if you go right to the top but the views are worth the climb. Take a slight detour near the very top to go into another smaller cave. There's a rope to help you get down to the stairs. Worth the extra few minutes.

We visited this temple quite late afternoon. Not crowded and no shop opens. We just taking walk around then came back, not hide to 5 destinations of temple. The temple was designed as a dragon. With head chamber, neck, body....tail. Head with the open mouth is the way to begin 1st destination...tail is end with the viewpoint from mountain. Parking is front. Lots of dogs there but they are very friendly. Free entry ticket.

Such a beautiful temple and well worth the hike up. Although it is a little tiring with the steps, the views and the temple at the top of the hill will leave you amazed. The dragon head entrance was also interesting to see and I really enjoyed looking at the frescoes engraved on the side of the walls. Definitely recommended if you are in the Kanchanaburi area.

Very pretty place with a beautiful stair leasing to a temple cave. Inside the dragon is written the legend of the cave. It's not too hard to go to the cave and the views are beautiful. Inside the cave you can take a long stairs to the top of the mountains for the view and golden chedi, this part is harder. It takes 1h30 to explore everything. Not crowded at all and snacks and restaurants at the bottom. The only downside is that it's hard to get there. You have two use Grab or your own transportation. Free to explore.

To explore this temple involved a lot of stairs hiking, but it is quite rewarding as well. There is already a temple compound at the foothill. Up the stairs and you will meet with a dragon, and enter a dragon. There is a temple mid hill which offer a great view of the surroundings. You can enter a cave which host a large golden Buddha. Continue going up from the cave will lead to a golden Stupa at the top, an amazing place to chill and take on the positive energy of the temple.
