19 Best Things to Do in Bangkok

"The main draw at Wat Pho is the country’s largest reclining Buddha, a 150-foot long sculpture occupying nearly every inch of the building and leaving guests to observe its gold-plated form from all angles. Beyond the Buddha, an expansive compound has the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand. The complex was Thailand’s first center for public education; people came to study its 1,360 marble inscriptions to learn about medicine, history, and liberal arts." - Diana Hubbell, Katie Lockhart

This is one of the famous and most visited temple in Bangkok Thailand. When I was there no a lot of tourists but I do like it because I can enjoy the place without having too much people. I was so amazed by the design on how the architect did the concept and designing this incredible structure that can stay up today. I adore how people respect their religious beliefs. And also I admire how they took care of the place. Every time I visited Thailand I always visit this temple.

I’d like to say the building is so detailed and amazing. Also, this is the first time i’ve seen an enormous statue such as a sleeping Buddha, it was so huge! However, the surroundings were so crowded. You have to be extra careful with your belongings. Hence, there are lots of souvenirs stalls and food stalls, so you don’t need to worry about getting food. Besides, you’ll get free water there.

There is a reason this is one of the most famous temples in Thailand. It really is that beautiful. It was 400TBH to enter but it is definitely worth it. I could have walked around Wat Pho for hours on end. Remember to dress with your shoulders covered and knees covered and also avoid mid drift. They do have some scarfs for if you are not properly dressed. There are some small venders close to the exit but everything is very over priced. I recommend going to local shops or night markets, or even the mall instead for your souvenirs.

A Cultural Gem You Shouldn’t Miss in Bangkok One of the most visited and iconic sites in Bangkok, this temple complex was a true highlight of my trip and an experience I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city. It’s not just a tourist attraction it’s a cultural treasure that beautifully reflects Thailand’s spiritual and artistic heritage. Most visitors come to see the breathtaking Reclining Buddha, an impressive 46-meter-long golden statue that radiates serenity and awe. While it’s certainly a must-see, my personal favorite part of the visit was exploring the main courtyard. The vibrant mosaics, peaceful garden corners, and detailed statues create an atmosphere that is both lively and calming. The architecture throughout the complex is absolutely stunning intricate carvings, colorful tilework, and beautifully sculpted structures that make you feel as if you've stepped into another world. There are also informative displays and plaques that provide great insights into Buddhist traditions and the significance of the temple. Helpful Tips: Arrive early to beat the crowds and enjoy a more serene experience. Entrance fee is 300 Baht, and cash only is accepted. It’s conveniently located near the Grand Palace, making it easy to visit both in one day. Whether you're passionate about culture, architecture, or spiritual history, this temple offers a meaningful and visually unforgettable experience.

This place is just amazing, there is a small cost to enter but it is definitely worth every baht. Famous for having the reclining Buddha, it does have so many more other beautiful things there as well. This place is huge in size, and put aside minimum one hour but I would suggest to give yourself a lot more so you can see everything. Do wear easy to takeoff shoes, because you are not allowed to wear them when looking inside the temples. Do look at the walls as there are beautiful paintings on them depicting all types of Thai culture. There is food and drink venues on site if you get hungry or thirsty. We also found it easy to find a car park in the area that was close to the venue if you are driving. This really is a must do if you are visiting Bangkok.

Really nice & pretty temple. The statute of the lying Buddha is huge! The interior is really nice and calming. The walls have very beautiful murals of the life of Buddha as you see from other famous Thai Temples and I really love looking at the details of it! There are couple of spots to take photo, but pretty hard to get the entire statue in 1 photo. There are also Big Gongs along the path from the entrance and my tour guide recommended us to hit the gong to experience"Spiritual Sounds" that calms & purify you. Pretty neat experience if you have never had the chance to hit a gong or hear a gong in your life. There is only 1 entry and 1 exit and you make a loop around the Buddha. The ncie thing here is they give you a tote bag to put your shoes in and carry it with you. The surrounding of the temple is also pretty nice with some big trees to shade you from Thailand's heat. There's also a tiny Amazon cafe that sells slushies which is perfect for the afternoon heat.

Interesting place, especially large liying monument of Buddha. Photos will tell better than words, so welcome to gallery. Only thing I want to mention – take cash to pay for ticket, if you have only foreign currency there is exchange office at the territory.

The temple complex is very big, consisting of many beautiful buildings inside. The architecture is stunning and atmosphere is very peaceful. You can see standing and sitting Buddha along with the iconic giant reclining Buddha. The ticket is bit expensive but the plus point is that it stays open later than nearby temples. So you can completely unwind in the calm environment after visiting nearby places like war Arun or grand palace. This place has a school to get formal education for Thai massage therapy. There are many cats which is a plus for cat lovers.
