Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong

Lovely little temple complex next to the City Pillar monument. The golden stupa is about 500 years old and is said to be built on the remains of an even older temple.

The original Wat was apparently older than the city, however the current buildings are much younger. We found the Wat relatively unspectacular, however its location slightly outside todays city centre on a hill made it worth the trip. Providing a quiet escape, Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong is a temple worth visiting. Its humble appeal and serene environment offer a decent retreat from the everyday hustle.

Awesome small temple packed with history. King Mengrai came here and also there is a city pillar and some great views.

One of Chiang rai's temples. It is located kind of further from the city center and at the top of a hill, so it may take you a while if you walk up there. The place was quite, but unfortunately we did not enjoy much of the view because of the weather.

This is another peaceful Buddha's relic near the city of Chiangrai.. there is also a city pillar in the hill compound.
