Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu

My 3rd day of a 5 day tour stopped at mae hong son. The sky was clear and ultra blue. You couldn't get anything better than this. This the one of the highest peak in mae hong son and when you look down, you could see the entire town including their airport runway. At the main pagoda you have Monday to Sunday Buddha which allow devotees to pray and bring their offering circling the pagoda. My birthday falls on the Tuesday which means is a sleeping Buddha! And I would highly recommend that once you pray 🙏🏻, walk over to the edge where you see a gigantic 1864 number, enter the coffee stall and find yourself a nice view where you could savour a drink and look at the beautiful scenery down below. You might not be a God but looking down at the town and the surrounding makes you feel to peaceful and calm. Love this place!

This temple is on top of hill overlooking Mae Hong Son township. Some says the sunrise and sunset view is amazing here, but I'll bag to defer. The distance mountain ranges on both East and West positions blocked the first and last light so you are unable to see the sunrise or witness the sunset accept the horizons color change. That said, the morning view is pretty with sea of clouds covering the township.

If you visit around sunset, you’ll find a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. You can also hike up from the temple in the city if you enjoy climbing — it’s a rewarding walk. Next to the main temple, there’s a small memorial site dedicated to bikers who lost their lives on the loop. It’s a peaceful and meaningful place, suitable for both adults and children. There’s also a small coffee shop near the top where you can grab a drink or something cold to refresh yourself.

My favourite spot in Mae Hong Son town. To get here, there is a well-paved road for vehicles and stairway for soft hiking. This is the highest peak in the town, can come here to enjoy sunrise, sunset or take a sip of tea with a panoramic view of the city.

The main attraction here isn't the temple, but the observation deck. Its uniqueness lies in the 360-degree view. You can see both the sunrise and sunset here. We weren't very lucky with the sunrise; the fog was high. We climbed up twice, once early in the morning and once in the evening. There aren't many tourists, and there's no special fee.

There was a sea of ​​fog, and we couldn't see the sunrise due to bad weather. You can climb up by bike, car, or by taking the stairs. The walk takes about 15 minutes.

Walked up early morning to watch the clouds lift and reveal the town below. Great spot The old entrance up the narrow stairs was fun. Only took 20mins with young children.
