We went up very early in the morning to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep to catch the sunrise, and the view was absolutely stunning. There were quite a number of people there as well, all quietly enjoying the beautiful moment as the sun rose over Chiang Mai. After sunrise, we walked around the temple grounds. The golden pagoda shone brilliantly as the sunlight reflected off it, creating a truly breathtaking sight. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, and just being there made us feel a deep sense of serenity. Highly recommend visiting, especially early in the morning for the sunrise experience.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a beautiful temple. Located 9 km from Chiang Mai at 1073 metres altitude. It’s a huge temple, and the stairway to the top is guarded by two nagas. Walk around to enjoy the view and the beauty of the temple. When you get back down, you can shop for food and beverages at the market that is there. Also, consider visiting the Doi Pui viewpoint that is close by and offer tremendous views. Please remember to dress accordingly if entering the temple.

am always happy to have the opportunity to pay homage to the Buddha's relics at this sacred place. Every time I visit, I feel energized and peaceful in my life. I intend to visit every year. The atmosphere is especially wonderful during the winter months. I recommend arriving early in the morning to avoid crowds. There is convenient parking nearby, just one street away. The history of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan dates back to 1927 during the reign of King Kue Na of Lanna. The Buddha's relics were brought from Si Satchanalai, and a sacred elephant was used to determine the location for their enshrinement. The elephant stopped at the summit of Doi Suthep, leading to the construction of a Mon-style pagoda to house the relics. Later, renovations and additional structures were built around the pagoda. Kruba Sriwichai also built a road up the mountain, making it easier for people to visit. Currently, it is the sacred pagoda associated with those born in the Year of the Goat.

It is not far from Central Chiang Mai. may be 1 hr or little more. there are elevator (With Tickets) who cannot climb stairs. My Mom and daughter can't climb so we took the elevator. no Queue or waiting for it. I Suggested go in the morning. Evening also would be better for Sunset but we had other plans. Weather was awesome. infact little windy and cold on top. very nice temple. feeling blessed and divine. crowded but no chaos. everything is so calm and peaceful. people were not rushing for entering into Vat. Plenty of seating arrangement for people. so my mom literally enjoyed the place as she couldn't walk much. there are plenty of restaurants near by. all are cheap and good. you must try local thai food there. even there are many Thai clothing store but i wouldn't recommend anything buying from there as no guarantee for clothes. usually get shrink after wash. i always admire Thai people and their love towards their country and Buddhism. if we come Chiang Mai again, certainly will come back.

This majestic and ancient temple sits on top of the mountain that overlooks Chiang Mai. Upon reaching you have to either take the stairs or a small ride on the funicular train to reach the temple grounds. There you are greeted with this golden majesty and sights of the city below. Must visit spot in Chiang mai.

This place still incredible and stunning culture, arts, and view. We love to visit here about Dec-Jan, as the weather there is pretty cool for us. It's good for walk up and down. There are a lots of chairs or rest point. Caution for visiting here, you should not wear short pants, sleeveless shirts or sexy dress. But in case you wear a short pants /skirt, then you can rent for free before entering to Buddha's relics.
