Wat Tham Khao Pun

There are a couple of things to see here. The cave is not too long and it starts by going down into the ground. The first room has a tiled floor and a reclining buddha. Behind this the cave proper begins, and follows a mostly linear path to another underground cavern housing a seated Buddha. From here you go upstairs again and exit the cave a short distance away from where you entered. They have some photos and text here explaining more about the history of the area during the war. It's not very well maintained, though. Entry to the cave is 30 baht each. Nearby there is a road to go up to a standing buddha and gold chedi (the same road next to where you exit the cave). This platform provides spectacular views of the river valley. I recommend driving up here unless you want a long walk. Just be careful as it is a one way road. Once you're done at the temple you can drive further along the road to the end where there are a few cafes, also overlooking the river. I highly recommend you go there to eat, drink and cap off this visit taking in the great views.

We booked a boat tour on GetYourGuide with a private longtail boat, and this cave temple was one of the stops. Even though it was smelling hard from bats in the cave, it is definitely worth it coming here as it is gorgeous! There is a beautiful reclining Buddha and many more Buddhist ornaments.

Entry fees: 30 baht. If you are looking for a beginner friendly cave, this is likely a good choice with good lighting, although it might still be challenging for the elderly.

It was by accident I got to know this wonderful place that is hidden in a secluded cave, up the hill from the shores of the river. Reaching it is either by road transport, or by renting a boat from the famous "bridge on river kwai". I must warn you that you need to be in good health to overcome all challenges, from walking steep hills, to maneuvering through tight cave passages. Entrance fee to the cave is only THB30 per person, and comes with personal tour guide speaking in Thai language only. In general, very nice place and worth visiting

The temple itself doesn't offer much to see. There's a new church in development. The temple has a cave system. It is a bit challenging for big people, because it becomes a bit narrow. At the start of the caves is a Buddha to which you can show your respect. There are many bats inside the cave, therefore many poop and a nasty smell.

Excellent cave with actual live bats in. The tunnels through are a bit tight in places so if of a larger frame or with mobility problems then don’t go further than first cave. It was worth 30 baht entrance fee. Now the bad points. The site is very neglected and run down. The toilets were not good and again rubbish everywhere.
